Story
Meet Jake! Jake is a sweet and soulful 10-year-old heeler mix with a heart as big as his 62-pound frame. This handsome gentleman came to us after some pack conflicts in his previous home, so he'll need to be the only pet in the home.  Jake is incredibly friendly with people and has quickly won over staff and volunteers with his gentle nature and love for snuggles. He walks politely on leash and seems to truly enjoy his time exploring the world at a steady pace. While he could benefit from some portion control and a bit more exercise to reach a healthier weight, Jake is more than ready to be someone's loyal walking buddy and couch companion! If you’re looking for a loving, low-key dog who still has plenty of pep in his step and affection to give, Jake might just be your perfect match. Come meet this cuddly cattle dog and see why we’re all so smitten!   The adoption fee is $250 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days.  Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day!  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.  ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them.  Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission.  ##267697##

Story
Danni is a 4 year old Cattle dog mix who is training to play ball for the major leagues one day. Her preferred pawrent would throw a ball for her all day long.  Her foster dad is encouraging her to expand her horizons and she is now enjoying long walks, squeeky toys, butt scratches, belly rubs and cuddles on the couch and bed.  She has mastered basic commands like "sit" and will now "wait" before eating her meal or exiting.  They are working on "paw", "lay" and "stay".  She appears to be potty trained and has not had any accidents in her foster home.  Danni had some past resource guarding tendencies so she should not go to a home with smaller kids.  She does tend to startle with loud noises and requires reassurance to settle down and relax in the car.  She does not seem to like other dogs but if her foster dad has her engaged in a game of fetch she is able to ignore the neighbor's dog barking at her. While Danni may be a bit anxious at first, she connects deeply with humans who show her compassion, patience, attention and have a good arm! Apply to meet Danni and she may do her spin excited dance for you! The adoption fee is $350 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. The adoption fee helps cover the cost of these vetting procedures. If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an application.   We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Story
Winston - Deaf Dogs Hear with Their Hearts Hello world I'm Winston....please don't mind me as I practice my sign language! You see, I'm hearing impaired, but I am super smart so I use hand signs to communicate! I have been waiting a while for my perfect home, but I will be a great companion once I find the right match. I will need SEVERAL MEETS before adoption, as I am people selective and it takes me a bit to get to know and trust someone. I'm a two year old who is a happy, handsome fella with gorgeous baby blues and would love to be someone's one and only. Once I trust them, I'd love for them to take me on walks/runs, play fetch, toss me toys, snuggle with me and teach me new commands! I do have a few requirements, though: I NEED A FENCED IN YARD, AN EXPERIENCED OWNER AND MUST BE AN ONLY DOG. So, if you have enough time, patience, dogs skills and can go slow with me, I will learn to trust you and be your loyal forever boy. No apartments please! Also, small children make me really nervous as I can't hear them so teenagers and adults only. I also prefer a house that won't be active with too many strangers coming and going but am crate trained, if needed. I currently living with a trainer and she loves me so much that she will provide continued training help for my whole life! I haven't had many good experiences in my life yet, so I'd love to be your loyal best new friend, if you have time to devote to me! Want to meet me and see how amazing we can be together? Please apply at www.nalarescue.org to adopt or for more information. All shots, boosters, rabies, spay/neuter, and microchip is included in NALA Rescue's Adoption donation fee. All meets are scheduled by appointment only once an application is approved. Please apply at www.nalarescue.org and if approved we will reach out to the applicant and answer all questions. All dogs/puppies are available until they are removed from this site so please no inquires if a dog is available.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information. Mariah is a very sweet 1.5 year old pup. At 46 lbs, she would be a great addition for someone looking for a medium sized pup, with a fabulous personality! She gets along well with other dogs, loves to play and especially run around the yard. She is adorably interactive and will even share her opinion at times. She's a doll who's eager to please. She does well in a crate, and has been learning new commands quickly in her foster home. She loves to snuggle with her humans and looks for any belly rub opportunities. Mariah would love to have a dog buddy in her forever home to keep teaching her the ropes.Mariah has a short, sleek coat which is easy to brush and dry. She is shiny, smooth and sleek like a little seal. She has a quiet and gentle demeanor, and she also has a sunny disposition that makes you smile! She is the sweetest girl. She is well behaved, rides well in the car, and has all the makings to be a wonderful family pet. Meeting her is falling in love with her! Like any of our dogs, this sweetheart would make a great addition to an active home that will provide love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation. Because of that, Mariah's ideal owner will have prior experience. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember  that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners.   Mariah's adoption fee is $325, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.June 14, 2025, 10:07 pm

Story
Hi-I’m Waylon! I came originally from Texas where life was not great for me like it is now is rescue!   I am about two years old, around 55 pounds and am a very handsome cattle dog/Australian Shepherd mix. I’m a really good boy with a sweet spirit and love to get pets and give kisses! Plus I like other dogs and an fine with children.   I am learning lots of new things! First, I'm potty trained and rarely have any accidents! I am also learning my kennel is a safe space (and I get treats when I go in there!) but I definitely prefer to be in the living room lounging and stretching out or following you around the house or outside with whatever you are doing.  Who wants an adorable loving shadow? That's me!  I really really love being told I’m a good boy and bonus I like getting brushed and all the pets!   I want to make my people happy and I'm super smart so  I’m working hard on basic commands like: come/sit/down/stay/kennel/shake! I  like car rides and walks and I’m learning leash manners.  I do much better with a harness because if I see something exciting like a bunny or a squirrel. I'm also getting used to loud signs but motorcycles driving by do make me bark lol. When I’m excited I want to put my front paws on you and get as close to you as possible for all the love. I also know my name and I come when I’m called.   I’m very friendly and want to say hi to everyone! Could you be my forever best friend? If so, please apply at www.HavenAnimalRescueNebraska.org   ADOPTION DONATION: $350   *ALL DOGS MUST BE INSIDE COMPANION ANIMALS! They are all up to date with vaccinations, altered, microchipped, HeartWorm tested, and on preventatives.   PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! July 5, 2025, 10:58 pm

Story
Had Duke since he was 10 weeks old, currently 6yrs old. Outside dog, has had some inside training. Would need inside work. Good for a farm or land. Sweet, fun, lovable dog. Likes to bark, loves attention, can be easily trained. Doesn’t love a kennel, doesn’t enjoy being left alone. Loves to play, loves being outside, loves treats. Digs sometimes. Cuddly dog. Unfortunately current circumstances aren’t working out and neighbors are complaining about his barking. He’s a good boy, trained with commands and some hand signals for commands. Little stubborn sometimes. I sadly cannot give him all the care and attention he deserves and needs which breaks my heart.
