Story
I`m a stylishly senior pet and therefore my adoption fee has been reduced. If you are 65 and older and interested in adopting me, ask staff about our Senior Squared deal! Go to this page for more information about available pets, adopting, visiting our facility, and contacting our adoption desk.Hello all! This is Shamley and she is a super smart girl who is ready to find a new forever home! Shamley came to us as an owner surrender, at no fault of her own, and she has been a great gal while being housed here at OCAS. Shamley did come to us with some osteoarthritis in her back end, and so we recommend following up with your full service veterinarian so that she can be the healthiest dog she can possibly be. She knows the wonderful `sit` and `shake` commands and does them with little effort if offered a yummy treat! Shamley would love to find a home with comfy beds and tasty treats to live out the rest of her golden years! We always recommend slow and supervised introductions between any new animals and current pets/people in the home.Shamley went on a little field trip and her adventure buddy had these lovely things to say about her:`Shamley doesn’t let her age show! She may be 10 years old, but she still has so much spunk and curiosity to her. Shamley was so excited to explore outside but also seemed to enjoy just hanging out with us. She is well-behaved on a leash and was happy to see other people and their dogs out and about! She knows `sit` and `paw` quite well and absolutely enjoyed her treat rewards! Shamley was so lovely to spend time with, and we hope she gets a human companion soon to give her lots of treats and love!!`

Story
Sweet Willow had a rough start in life, but is ready to find her forever home and have her happily ever after! She came to us afraid of human touch and has since blossomed in her foster home and loves being around her foster family. She bonded quickly with her best fur buddy, Hallie and now they are inseparable! They love hanging out, running in the yard and taking naps together. Willow is crate and potty-trained and is just the best little girl! She can't wait to meet her forever family and make new, wonderful memories with them! She would do best with another dog to play with and learn from.

Story
This is our sweet Aussie. She’s an incredibly friendly Australian Cattle Dog. I’ve had her since she was a puppy & have never met a happier, more playful pooch. She has beautiful curls behind her ears and loves giving kisses. She loves playing with people and other dogs, the occasional popcorn treat, and being a best friend. Aussie does not have any medical issues and is house trained. Aussie has had no incidents of fighting or biting & is not aggressive. She is friendly with cats but her energy level & playfulness are usually more than most cats prefer. Aussie is good with kids up to a point. Sadly we are having to rehome her due to our current living arrangements not being adequate for her needs. Since our toddler became more mobile, she has shown a lot of aggression towards Aussie, often cornering her despite our frequent correction. Our current apartment is what we can afford for now but doesn’t leave enough room for both our toddler & Aussie to have enough room to coexist safely.

Story
Arlo’s the sweetest boy (~2y/o, Australian Cattle Dog mix), but has been really stressed where we're living in NYC (I'm originally from NC). I’m looking for a place for him with a little more space to play, a bit more quiet than New York City offers, maybe a dog friend (not required), and hopefully a pretty active owner. He’s really well trained, great off-leash, knows lots of tricks, and is super loyal/a great cuddler. He’s high energy but in all of the best ways - he loves fetch, dog parks, hiking, and yards. He’s really the perfect dog — sweet, snuggly, smart, and super loyal. I don’t want to give him up but based on my life situation it seems like the right thing to do. If you know of anyone who might be a good fit, please let me know

Volunteer notes, 5/7/24:Today we learned that Baxter loves to chase balls, but his idea of playing fetch is to touch the ball with his nose and run back. He is sweet, friendly, goofy, and hilarious. He loves treats!Volunteer notes, 5/2/24:Baxter is a bouncy, goofy little love bug who is absolutely delightful to play with in the yard. He loves to show off his zoomies and ball fetching skills, and will demonstrate his knowledge of commands in exchange for treats. You cannot watch this dog play without laughing; he is full of infectious joy!
