Story
Daisy is an energetic, affectionate, and intelligent girl who has been in foster care for about a month and continues to thrive in her foster environment. Likely around 1 year old, she is a bubbly, personable dog who loves meeting new people and animals. Daisy is highly motivated by praise, treats, and toys, and she thrives on connecting with her humans. She enjoys cuddling, playing, and learning new commands, and would do well in an active home where she has a “job” or plenty of things to keep her busy.Daisy is potty trained and learning good leash manners, though she does have lots of energy and may need continued guidance as she grows. She gets along well with other dogs, cats, and would likely do well in a family setting with children. Despite her energetic nature, Daisy can be calmed with a confident, steady hand and clear direction, making her both playful and manageable. She and her foster brother, East, are very bonded, but both could thrive in separate homes if needed.Daisy’s sweet, loving personality, intelligence, and playful spirit make her a wonderful companion for any family ready to give her the attention, activity, and affection she deserves ????

Story
Ginger arrived with a terrible wound on her neck (caused by a collar that was too small) and she was so scared...she trembled and would not even walk, we had to carry her in most cases. With the help of amazing staff and volunteers, she has been improving and healing. She`s still scared and getting used to a leash, she may try to flee/run when scared. But she`s healing, she looks beautiful, and she`s even been going on some full walks outside with no issues. She just needs some kind humans to go slowly with her and give her time/space to adjust. If you think you have the right, calm spot for her where you can work with her to help her relax and blossom even more, email adoption@orangecountync.gov. We know she`ll really benefit from being in a loving home.If you`d like to help Ginger and other pets that enter the shelter with serious medical issues, please consider making a donation to the shelter. The Community Giving Fund is an easy way to donate online. Thank you!Foster notes on Ginger:`Ginger is so sweet! She is working through a lot of fear, but is gentle and kind to both humans and dogs. We went to Johnston Mill Preserve and got lots of good exercise out on the trails. Once we were moving in the woods, she was totally relaxed and really curious about our surroundings. She is working on trusting strangers, but loves the outdoors and would be an excellent adventure buddy!``Although Ginger is very fearful, she warmed up to us in a few hours. She loves the company of other dogs and was considerably less fearful after she met our dog. She is very uninterested in food; she didn`t take any of the treats that we offered her. She didn`t play with any of the toys. We took her home for a few hours. At first, she was avoiding us, but at the end of her stay, she was following us and accepting pets. She greeted our dog with enthusiasm, even though our dog wanted nothing to do with her. Ginger threw up in the car on the ride back, but was very well-behaved in the car. I love Ginger`s sweet and gentle temperament; despite her fear and distrust of humans, she is very kind and tolerant.`

Story
DOB 05/22/2022) Hayes is heartworm positive and our rescue will treat him. For this reason, he is adoptable within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC. Hayes The Resilient and Loving Terrier Mix! Are you still waiting to meet the love of your life? Well this dog literally has your heart on the tip of his nose! Are you looking for a dog who will love you unconditionally? Hayes might just be the one to steal your heart! This sweet terrier mix has had a tough start but is now on the fast track to becoming the loving companion you've been waiting for. Hayes is a handsome, intelligent boy with a big heart and an even bigger personality. While he’s had a rough start, he’s made incredible progress and is now searching for a calm, committed home where he can truly thrive. Hayes is at his best in a quiet environment without other pets—he wants to be the star of your life! He bonds deeply with his people and will stick by your side through thick and thin. A securely fenced yard is a must for Hayes, giving him space to explore and relax safely at his own pace. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, knows basic commands, and walks well on leash.  Hayes is looking for someone who understands that love and trust take time—and who’s ready to give him the patient, peaceful home he deserves. Hayes is a sweet and special boy that's just looking for a quite, loving home with no other pets and a nice fenced yard. Technically he is ok with cats but would probably just prefer being your one and only. He would also be ok with older, chill kids who aren't running around, playing, and rough housing. One big heart ready to love you forever. So if you have a similar lifestyle and just like things at a slower pace, not rowdy, and enjoy the sweet company of a furry friend, and this sounds like your perfect match, Hayes can’t wait to meet you. As part of Hayes’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Hayes, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2318777##
