Story
VERA is ready to play! She's a stunning young brindle mixed breed girl, our best guess is an Australian Cattle Dog mix. She's around 1 year old and fully grown at 33 pounds. She loves to run and play in the yard with her doggie pals. Every morning she hits the ground running, doing Daytona 500-style zoomies in the yard. Vera has struck up a special relationship with her foster sister based on a mutual love of playing bitey face and tug-of-war. Vera was painfully shy when she arrived at the rescue but she's blossomed in her foster home. She's still on the timid side in new situations and when meeting new people and needs the companionship of a confident playful dog who matches her in size and energy level. Vera needs a home with a physically-fenced yard suitable for high speed zoomies. She's housebroken and crate trained. If you'd like to meet Vera, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Vera at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. She's very timid during adoption events, but please don't let that deter you, all she needs is a little patience. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Hi my name is Vanilla! Like a vanilla latte, a vanilla cookie, a vanilla soda, or vanilla ice cream! All of these are great names for me, because I'm also a sweet little treat who will add a pop of sunshine to your day! I'm a goofy little girl with some quirks, I love to sit and stare at my foster mom and "chirp" at her until she gives me pets! I also love to remind her that she's not petting me enough by trying to pet her! I love to get my belly scratched and snuggle up with a great blanket. Don't worry if you don't know exactly where the blankets should go, I'll rearrange them to my liking! Sometimes, I even like to burrow into them for a nap or pile them all up and make myself a blanket throne in a sun spot. My life wasn't always so sweet, a rescue lady found me sitting in a ditch out in the country. My pelvis was broken and x rays showed that I have some bbs in my hind quarters too! My pelvis is still healing, so I can't go on long hikes or runs. That's fine though, because you can grab a latte, and a blanket and we can SNUGGLE UP. I immediately brought out my sweet side and was happy to sit in her car and start my journey to forever! All of my teeth were broken as well, so I only kept my top canines and my molars, but that doesn't slow me down AT ALL. I love snackies, I just drool a little extra and my tongue is a little floppier than you might expect. I'm 35 pounds of SWEET SNUGGLE BUG and I'm looking for my forever family (and couch). I get along with the other dogs in my foster house but I don't really like to be crowded. I have an 85 pound foster brother who tries to play with me, I'm still warming up to him and don't like it when he plays too rough but he listens well when I set my boundaries. No cats please! I like to chase them too much. Foster Notes: Vanilla is a great little girl who gets along really well with my senior dogs, she is about 35 pounds and 2 years old. She likes to hang out in the crates sometimes but I do not crate her at night or when I'm not home. In new houses she'll tend to mark, but she stops after one or two days and hasn't had any accidents since. ADOPT VANILLA!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

These pups are in Cincinnati, Ohio too!

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydududeequine.org Meet Ellie — Your Holiday Helper, Professional Hug Collector & Seasonal Hall Monitor! Ellie is a 4-year-old, 27-pound Mini Aussie who brings the perfect mix of brains, beauty, and festive flair. Think of her as your own personal holiday elf… if elves had herding instincts sharper than Santa’s sleigh runners. This clever girl is house and crate trained, rides like a champ in the car, and is always ready for a peppermint mocha run (don’t worry, she’ll stick to pup cups). She’s great with other dogs and absolutely adores her people — especially if they come bearing treats, belly rubs, or compliments about her fabulous coat. Speaking of that coat: Ellie will stand patiently for grooming like she’s at a Christmas spa day. A little brushing? A little pampering? A little “you’re so pretty, Ellie”? She is HERE for it. Now, a quick note about kids: Ellie takes holiday “peace and order” very seriously. Small children may find themselves gently herded back into formation — so she’s best suited for a home with adults or older kids who appreciate her commitment to organization. Think of her as your festive floor manager. Cats? TBD. But knowing Ellie, she’d at least try to offer them some seasonal guidance. Ellie is loyal, funny, affectionate, and ready to jingle all the way through life with her new family. Whether it’s winter walks, cozy nights by the fire, or supervising gift wrapping, she’s your girl. Ellie’s Highlights: - 4 years old, 27 lbs of Aussie adorableness - House & crate trained - Great with other dogs - Expert co-pilot for ANY road trips - Loves attention, grooming sessions, and anyone who appreciates her sparkle - Professional human-herder (older kids or adults preferred) Looking for a little magic this season and a whole lot of love? Ellie is ready to deliver all of that wrapped in puppy fluff and tail wags!! ✨ Apply at haydudeequine.org — Ellie is ready to make your season (and every season after) joy filled, bright, and perfectly organized!

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🐾🔥 Meet Dante — The Dashing Adventurer With a Heart of Gold 🔥🐾 (Australian Shepherd • 2 Years • ~45 lbs • Professional Good Boy) If you’ve been wishing for a four-legged best friend who can keep up with all your adventures — from weekday hikes to weekend chaos — allow us to introduce Dante, the Australian Shepherd whose life goal is to be included in absolutely everything you do. Yes, everything. If you’re going, he’s going. If you’re sitting, he’s sitting. If you’re eating… well, he’s respectfully observing with hopeful eyes. At 2 years old and around 45 pounds, Dante is the perfect-sized partner in crime. He’s sweet-natured, active, playful, and handsome enough to make your neighbors ask, “Wow, where’d you get that dog?” (We approve of you bragging about him.) He’s good with dogs, great with kids, and even gets along with cats — which is impressive given that many Aussies consider cats to be mysterious, poorly timed flock members. Dante says, “No worries, mate. We’re cool.” He was previously heartworm positive, but he has completed treatment like the brave champ he is and is now cleared and ready for his forever home. Fully vetted, neutered, and house trained — this boy is as turn-key as they come. A couple things you should know: • Dante is barky. Not “I’m yelling at every leaf,” but definitely “I have opinions and I would like to share them.” • Because of that, apartment life = big nope. • Outdoorsy, active families = HUGE YES. He wants adventures! Hikes! Road trips! Splash zones! Life! Dante would thrive with a family who will include him in the everyday moments and the big fun ones — from coffee runs and yard projects to camping trips and long scenic walks. He’s happiest when he’s part of the action, right by your side. He is currently with a neighboring rescue partner — we work together to save as many lives as we can — and we will happily pull him into Hay Dude Rescue to complete his adoption. If you're looking for a best friend who brings joy, energy, loyalty, and a sprinkle of Aussie spice, Dante is your guy. 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org — Dante’s next adventure starts with YOU! 🐶✨

Story
Between Dec, 1st-15th, part of my adoption fee is sponsored! Thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters campaign, my new family can take me home for $70! Meet Uncle Fester! This handsome 4-year-old Australian Shepherd mix has quite the story to tell. Originally adopted as a puppy from Louie’s Legacy, Uncle Fester recently found himself abandoned in the woods. Thankfully, a local shelter recognized him and contacted us right away—and we wasted no time bringing him back into rescue where he belongs. Despite all he’s been through, Uncle Fester’s heart is still full of love. He absolutely adores men—he completely melted for the dog warden who helped him—and he does well with women, too. He may be a little shy at first, which is understandable after the whirlwind of his past week, but once he warms up, he’s affectionate and loves all the pets and attention you’ll give him. Uncle Fester walks decently on a leash (though he can pull a bit when he’s excited) and enjoys car rides, where he sits back and watches the world go by. He’s also good with other dogs and was even found with a canine companion. We’re still getting to know this sweet boy, but one thing’s already clear—Uncle Fester is a gentle soul ready for his fresh start and a family who will never let him down again. Uncle Fester is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $275.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
