Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi! I’m Adelaide, a 40 pound, 5 year old cattle dog. My friends call me Addy. My breed comes from Australia but the police found me wandering in Kent. Can you imagine someone dumping a beautiful girl like me? I was scared and lonely. Happier now at my foster home which has a big yard, one big human, one small human, and two playmates. However, I really want my own person again. I promise to love you with all my heart. My foster mom always tells me how beautiful and good I am. I’m house trained, not food or toy aggressive, and love car rides. It was hard to know who to trust when I was alone, so I am timid at first. My other issue is reacting to new dogs and sounds with loud barks. Because of my timidity and reactiveness, I don’t give a good first impression but if you give me a chance, I’ll make a very loyal and loving companion. Foster mom Donna here. Addy is a delightful dog full of contrast. She has high energy outside but calm inside. She can be independent but also playful and affectionate. She likes people of all ages but can get nervous if too many new ones all at once. I leave her alone in the house with no crate and she’s been good. Her ideal owner will love the outdoors and have a yard where she can run free and explore. We have recently allowed her to be off leash and she’s been good at recall but took a few months to get her there. Thus a fence would be ideal. **WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Buttons. I'm about 3 1/2 years old and I weigh about 42 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound through no fault of my own and I am now looking for a loving new family to join. I am a very sweet girl. I can be a little timid at first with new people, but once I get the chance to warm up, I'll pester you for endless pets and belly rubs. I have a typical cattle dog attitude towards other dogs. If I like them, I like them. If I don't like them, I don't. I will definitely need to have a meet and greet with any other dogs I would live with to make sure we get along. I am potty trained and I haven't had a single accident since I've been here at the pound. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Isabella really needs to find her furever home. The shelter environment is very stressful for her. She’s a little shy to meet new people, but she warms up quickly with treats. She loves treats! Isabella is dog selective, and should be introduced to new animals with caution. She’s got lots of energy, and would love a human companion who will play with her and take her for long walks. Isabella wants to know, “Will you be my friend?”

Story
Meet Ranger! He's is a playful pup who loves attention and spending time outside. He came to Rescue Village as a transfer from another shelter to give him a better chance at a forever home. Whenever he gets a chance to go on a walk or play fetch, his little nub tail never stops wagging! Ranger is also obsessed with toys and is constantly chewing on a bone. He loves to play with other dogs, but because he also loves his toys and food so much, he might do better as the only animal in the home, where he can be the center of attention. He would love to spend every day playing fetch and getting lots of booty scratches (okay, and probably a few treats, too)! If you're looking for a playful friend with lots of personality, Ranger would love to join you on your next adventure!

Story
Meet Gourd! Or as we like to call him, Cheesy Gourdita Crunch Supreme. Gourd is a sweet guy who lives up to his name because he loves food! Treats are the way to his heart, especially cheese! Gourd is a timid fella who can take a while to warm up to people. He has made a lot of progress through the ASPCA's Behavioral Rehabilitation Center and is learning to be brave! He'll need a patient home that gives him time to decompress and help him learn that the world isn't so scary! He likes to go on walks and does well with calmer dogs who don't overwhelm him. Gourd's heart is as big as his ears and all he needs is for someone to give him a chance! With a little bit of TLC (tacos, love and care), this goofy guy could become your new best friend. Come and meet Gourd today!
