Story
Hi…Everyone meet Vinny!!! Vinny became a member of the Legacy family when he was at risk of being euthanized for a heart murmur.  After being examined by a veterinarian, his murmur was diagnosed as not being severe enough to require euthanasia.  That was in January 2021… Fast forward to TODAY!!  Vinny is a FUN, sweet, and cautious puppy who is curious about so many things that are new to him.  Vinny is in a loving foster home that he shares with 2 adult humans, 4 other dogs, and 4 cats.  He is SO wonderful with EVERYONE he meets!!  He LOVES attention and hanging out with everyone, but he especially LOVES to play with balls, sticks and other dogs!  He does try to play with (sometimes chase) a couple of the cats, but has never tried to hurt them.  Vinny has the typical puppy energy, but he will also curl up and sleep when he has tired himself out. We believe Vinny was born in late September 2020.  We also think he is an Australian Cattle Dog mix.  At 6 months, he weighs 35 pounds, so when he is done growing, it is estimated he will be around 40-45 pounds (again this is just a best guess).  He is up to date on shots, vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and om preventative medications (for fleas, ticks, and heartworm).  Vinnie is currently under medical care of our vets as well as a specialist in Akron as he is having trouble emptying his bladder. We are determined to figure out what the problem is and fix it to the best of our ability. He does currently wear belly bands and we do not know how long he is going to need to do this, until we figure out what is going on. Vinny had the chance to attend a puppy training class.  He seemed to really enjoy the class and was a SUPER fast learner.  Vinny will just sit and look at you waiting for direction.  He LOVES to please his humans!!  He is just the sweetest boy!!  He LOVES snacks, belly rubs, and going for walks.  He also LOVES attention.  Vinny sleeps well in his crate. That is also where he spends his time when his foster parents are not home.  So he is used to and comfortable with being crated. Please consider applying for sweet Vinny.  He would make a wonderful addition to a family willing to love him forever! Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-1 1/2 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $100.00 {$75 if Senior} of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue. ADOPTION FEE's: Puppies under 6 months: $199.00 Adults: $150.00 Seniors (over 7 yrs): $99.00 If you are interested in one of our dogs please fill out an application: https://form.jotform.com/193425528783165

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Bubba. I'm about 10 months old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound because I was recently bought from another person and I wasn't a good match for the family. I had too much energy and their other dog hated me. I am a very sweet and extremely smart dog. With the right family that would continue my training just a bit more and stay on top of me, I would make an absolutely amazing dog. I have so much potential to be a great service dog or support dog from someone that can put just a bit more into me. I am very food motivated and readily listen when I am told to sit, lay, or even shake hands. I have been very friendly and social with all of the people that I have met since making my way into the pound. I have also done well around all of the other social, friendly dogs I've met here. I have been in the play yard here with play groups and I've done great. If another dog tries to dominate or act aggressive to me, I don't like that, but I do great with dogs that do great with me. I have been great here at the pound with my potty habits and I appear to be at least mostly housebroken. If you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes a parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Meet Buckshot! Buckshot will be 1 year old Sept. 7th 2021. He is a 27 pound Male Blue Heeler Mix who is also Deaf. He was surrendered to a high kill animal control facility along with a younger litter of puppies. Unfortunately, another rescue pulled the puppies and left Buckshot behind. We couldn't leave him there alone, confused and afraid. Hard-working, intelligent, and loyal—that’s a Blue Heeler in a nutshell. Historically, these dogs were bred to work on farms as herding dogs and they still thrive when they have a job to do. Their fierce loyalty makes them even better workers. Even if you don’t work on a farm, you can put them to work. They love figuring out puzzles and retrieving toys. We are only considering families with kids 10 years old or over as the heeler mixes like to herd small children sometimes. Because he is deaf we are requiring a home with a secure physical fenced yard for Buckshot. With his breed instincts, he is very active and will also be a "Velcro" dog because he is deaf. He will look to his human for communication and direction. He does know some hand signals. He would do well with another confident dog his size and activity level. Buckshot is neutered, current on vaccines, including Rabies, dewormed, tested Negative for Heart Worm and current on prevention and current on flea/tick prevention. His adoption fee is $350.00. If interested in meeting Buckshot, complete an adoption application online at furgetmenotrescue.org Personality traits Friendly, Affectionate, Loyal, Playful, Gentle, Smart

Story
Hi, my name is Bronn! I was surrendered to the shelter due to not being a good fit in my last home. I am a very handsome guy, who is ready for my new family! I can be a bit nervous around new people but enjoy the company of the people that I know. I love going on walks and hanging out in the office with the staff. I am looking for a cat free home. A dog sibling my be a possibility. I do best with submissive dogs. A meet and greet would be required to make sure we got along. My former owner said that I am very active (well I am a cattle dog), independent, talkative and shy to visitors. I like to chase & pounce with a variety of toys, chew on Kongs or bones, play fetch, play in or around water and play tug of war. I would prefer a home with adults or teenagers and up, no young kids for me please. If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neuteringAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2022 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $7.00. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$5.00)Leash and collar included
