Story
Adoption Donation   $ 299 Located:  RI Age: 4.5 years old Weight: 56 pounds  Meet Finn!   Finn is a striking 4.5 year old black and white Australian cattle/terrier mix and is looking for a family who tend to be home bodies. Finn would rather stay at home and play in his own house/yard than prowl the town!   He loves to play and heard his toys, especially his ball! He would love to chase it around your fenced-in yard.  You do not have to worry about him alone at home. He is very smart and knows all basic commands.   FINN would do best with a positive minded adult home only.  After working with our trainer at Jenn Reynolds Training Tails Finn is building his confidence level back up due to an off leash dog attacking him.    Sunday football, baseball, basketball games on the couch is his fav!!!  Sunday driving and long walks on the cape or ferry rides to the Block not so much.  He prefers the end of the recliner.   Please reach out to me if you are interested in getting more information or to set up a meet and greet with Finn. Save4pawz@gmail.com Friends of Homeless Animals, INC of RI  If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  Save4pawz@gmail.com  Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt. If you feel comfortable that the animal is a good fit for your home, at this point, you would submit a sum of $200 as a partial payment of the adoption fee as we process your application. From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit. If you are not approved to adopt, any payment sent to us would be promptly returned in full. At this point, we will remove the animal from our adoption sites and hold the animal for you while we check your references. If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc. Meet Charlize Theron!  She is what looks to be a beautiful Heeler mix with a white/cream/merle very soft coat. Since moving to Rhode Island, she has lived with adults, cats and dogs. She would do well to have another active doggie buddy in her forever home because she LOVES to play – wrestling, hiking, walks, chasing and then collapsing after for snuggle time. Charlie/Chi-Chi had a rough start to life which has left her wary of new situations and people. She has experienced a tremendous amount of change in her short life therefore her patient human(s) and doggie family help build her confidence, create an environment of safety and in return she gives so many kisses!! She would do best with another playful and confident dog to show her the ropes. Charlize has many amazing personality traits; she's super affectionate, intelligent, even-tempered, eager to please, gentle, and mild mannered.  We feel she would do best in a household that does not have a lot of foot traffic and offers a predictable and stable “everyday” schedule. Patience and time is key with Charlie so that she can trust and open up on her own pace. She is not a social butterfly and is looking for someone who does not have a lot of social expectations of their dog.  She is an active girl who loves hikes, play time with other dogs and walks.  After she has her exercise she does like to snuggle and relax on the couch, but she is not a natural couch potato.  She does not like the crate, but this is something her foster mom is working on.   Think Charlize Theron would make the perfect addition to your family? Fill out an application to let her know! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see      HERE      for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:    www.sosarl.org/aa/   *  *Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor. April 25, 2024, 11:21 pm

Story
Curly is an adorable one-year-old Cattle Dog Mix who is eagerly looking for a forever home. With her calm and quiet demeanor, Curly has won the hearts of everyone she meets. She possesses a loving nature especially once she forms a bond with her human companions. Her foster mom has enjoyed taking care of her and has stated that her company was most endearing. They spend many nights cuddling as the foster works on her computer. Even though her foster mom will miss her, she knows Curly is ready for the next big step in her life in finding a loving family! How did Curly come into the ArkanPaws program? There is a video of her walking across a bridge with several other abandoned dogs in an area known for dumping unwanted pets. The ArkanPaws volunteer returned with live traps and by the next morning she was secured. At first, she was afraid and it took about one week to win her trust. She still is shy when initially meeting strangers but warms quickly when she feels safe.  One of Curly's most endearing qualities is her gentle and sweet nature. She approaches life with a relaxed attitude, always ready to take things at her own pace. While she may initially be reserved, it doesn't take long for her to warm up to people, and once she does, her affection knows no bounds. She enjoys being petted and following her person around the yard and house. How did Curly get here name? Her cute little tail is what she is named for! Her appearance is very unique with her dappled short coat and corkscrew like tail. Her coat sheds very little and is easy to maintain. Curly will do best with older kids who are eight years old and up. She’s learning to like toys and has a zest for treats. With proper interaction, she has the potential and curiosity to engage in play. She's doing very well with the cats in her foster home. Curly is curious, but does not advance, or act aggressive in any way with them.  She’s crate trained and still trying to master potty training. Her foster mom is working with her to walk on leash. She is fully vetted: spayed, microchipped, all core vaccinations, and has been examined by a licensed veterinarian. Her current weight is a healthy 38 pounds. Her adoption fee is $450, which covers her transport and all of the vetting she has received. She has been tested for heartworms and the result was negative. ArkanPaws is not licensed in the state of Massachusetts and unable to deliver there. ArkanPaws is a non-profit agency and all adoption fees supports other pets in need.  ##1771554##

Story
Stitch Local is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Stitch is a stunning Australian cattle dog, weighing about 45 lbs. He turns 2 in May and would love to celebrate his birthday with his new family. Like many people, Stitch gets anxious when meeting new people & going to new places & prefers slow introductions. But once he knows he’s safe, he warms up quickly and is a loyal, loving companion. While he has lived with another dog before & enjoys playing with dogs, we feel Stitch would prefer to be an only pet. He loves receiving all the attention from people! Older kids would be best, as little ones can make him nervous. Given his breed, he loves going on long walks & hikes and requires a fair amount of physical & mental stimulation. He walks well on a leash & is great in the car. Stitch is fully house trained, neutured & utd on his vaccinations. He does not like being crated at all & will injure himself trying to get out. Fortunately, a crate is not needed, as he is nondestructive in the home. Stitch is so excited to become part of your family adventures! If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter. If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Be sure to check our Facebook page "Rhode Home Rescue" for details on upcoming events and other announcements.

Story
Billabong is a high energy, high action, all-things-Australian kind of dog! He's about a year and a half old and has the stamina to show for it. His intelligence is just as sharp as the rest of him, already knowing some of his essential cues - sit, down, paw, and speak. As an ACD, he thrives in the outdoors with plenty of room to run, jump, and play. He'll do the same indoors, of course, just with a whole lot more obstacles in the way. He's personable and friendly once he gets to know you with no issues being handled. He's even happy to climb up onto your shoulders if you were to let him to! (Warning, we do not recommend doing this at home.) There is an initial stranger danger phase where he'll bark and sniff you out, but it's just his way of saying hello. Once toys or treats are in the picture, it's all over. He'll be your best friend until the end of time and stuck as his fetch machine for the next few hours. No aggression has been seen with food, toys, high value treats, or handling, and he's only proven to be a certified Good Boy.If you're interested in Billabong, we're slightly selective with the way we're going to place him. We don't want to place him in a house with cats as the breed has a prey drive, and kids in the home have to be over the age of 12 since we don't know his history with them. Big dogs he seems to be nervous around, while smaller dogs make him feel more comfortable and he'll open up more readily to them. Keep in mind this breed is one that typically exists on farms to keep them physically and mentally stimulated, so this is not going to be an apartment dog. He'll be ideal for a family that's active, outdoorsy, and can keep up with the needs of a tenacious pup. Billabong will come neutered, microchipped, with his Rabies and distemper vaccines, a heartworm test, his heartworm preventative, and his flea/tick for the month. Please fill out an application on our site, ForeverPaws.com, before booking an appointment. If you're already approved with us, however, feel free to give us a call and set up an appointment to meet Billabong today! As he will be meeting multiple families as the applications come in, please don't expect to walk out with him same day. We operate off of best fit for our animals vs. first come first served. Thank you for understanding!
