Story
Meet Dozer – Our Very Own Off-Brand Cattle Dog If we ran a DNA test on this guy, it’d probably come back 50% cattle dog, 25% generalized anxiety, and 25% nerd. Dozer is a quirky, lovable 7-year-old who's ready to trade in the noise of the city for a quiet, low-key home with room to breathe. Despite his age, he still gets a kick out of chasing birds and anything with two wheels. He may not be your typical herding dog, but his loyalty and offbeat charm more than make up for it. If you're looking for a steadfast companion who prefers dirt roads to sidewalks and a little peace over the hustle, Dozer might just be your perfect match. **if you are interested in Dozer, please complete an adopters profile at parl.org and come in during our open hours**

Story
Meet Winnie 🩵 Winnie’s journey with us began when we were contacted to help with her puppies. But we could never leave a mama behind—and this sweet girl has earned her own happy ending. Her pups, Lola, Vito, and Cleo, are on their way to bringing joy to new families, and now it’s Winnie’s turn to be someone’s beloved baby. This beautiful mama has done her job, raising her litter with love and care. She was originally rescued by a kind-hearted woman who also took in her not-by-blood but very-much-in-spirit sister, Harper—Winnie absolutely adores her. If you know cattle dogs, you know they’re loyal to the core, and Winnie is no exception. At first, she may be a little reserved—she likes to observe and understand new people. But give her a moment, and you’ll find a loyal, loving companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side. Winnie is happy both with and without other dogs. She enjoys running around with her friends at the dog park but never strays far—she’ll always circle back to make sure her person is still there. She’s house-trained, uses a doggie door, is non-destructive, and is learning how to walk on a leash. But honestly, once she bonds with you, she won’t want to wander far anyway. Winnie is great with humans of all sizes and has the kindest heart. Now it’s her time. She deserves a home where she can finally relax, feel safe, and never worry about being left behind again. We’re hoping someone sees the beautiful soul she is and gives her the forever family she’s been waiting for. If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Meet Chili – Your Adventure Buddy & Cuddle Queen! Chili is a 7-month-old spayed female Australian Cattle Dog (Red Heeler) with a heart as big as her energy level! This sweet and spunky girl is up-to-date on all vaccines, on flea/tick prevention, and has received a 12-month ProHeart injection, so she’s ready to go wherever life takes her. Chili is the perfect mix of outdoor explorer and indoor snuggler. She loves hiking, swimming, and romping around in the yard—but she’s just as happy curling up with her people at the end of a fun-filled day. Chili gets along great with other dogs and is friendly with everyone she meets. She’s okay with cats too, though her herding instincts may kick in if they run (classic Cattle Dog behavior!). Like most heelers, Chili can be a bit mouthy during play, but it’s all in fun—she doesn’t bite. She would thrive with an active family who enjoys outdoor activities, or in a home with a fenced yard where she can play to her heart’s content. She’s also fantastic off-leash on hikes and sticks close to her people like the loyal companion she is. Chili is a smart, affectionate, and playful pup who’s looking for a family to love and adventure with. If you’re ready for a life of fun, loyalty, and sweet snuggles—Chili is your girl! Meet Georgia - A brave Momma ready for her happy ending Adoption Fee: $449 includes transport Adoption Application - Copy & Paste https://forms.gle/FmtRtYxQNnemdkdw9 Georgia is a beautiful Australian Cattle Dog with a heart as big as her journey has been tough. Dumped while pregnant, Georgia did her best to survive—and protect the life growing inside her. She found her way to an abandoned house and gave birth to her puppies in heartbreaking conditions, surrounded by filth and garbage. Through it all, she stayed strong and devoted to her babies. By her side the whole time was her little companion, Rick also left behind. A kind-hearted Good Samaritan began feeding Georgia and Rick and, after the puppies were born, reached out for help. That’s when we stepped in and brought them all to safety. Georgia has now weaned her puppies and is thriving in a loving foster home. She’s a little shy at first, but once she feels safe, she blossoms into a sweet, affectionate, and loyal companion. She gets along well with other dogs and would love a calm, patient family who can show her the love and kindness she’s always deserved. This brave mama has come so far—and now she’s ready for her forever home. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend with a gentle spirit and a courageous heart, Georgia is your girl. She is a 1-year-old Miniature American Shepherd and weighs 20 lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Macaroon is nervous around strangers but warms up after a while! She is good with children! She hasn’t been tested around cats. She is good with small dogs but is reactive towards medium and large sized dogs! Macaroon is housebroken and crate trained. She is currently on Prozac for her anxiety. She loves to be with her people, once she warms up to you! She will need a home with someone who is patient and can continue the reactivity training that she needs.
