I’m a super smart girl. I really don’t know why I haven’t been adopted yet, I was found as a stray 2 YEARS ago and was brought to a humane society in Mississippi, where I sat for a year, until a wonderful rescue in Tennessee took the chance and brought me up to Tennessee in hopes to find a home! My care takers have been doing everything they can to find the right home for me, but unfortunately I’ve been in rescue over a year now. I do love to play with my medium/large breed doggie friends, I like that we can wrestle and tumble around! I try to get kitties and little dogs to rough it up with us big dogs, but I get to rough with them and I would do best in a home with other medium/large breed dogs! I even do good with kids 10+! What we know about Gus: 💢Great with dogs 💢Great with kids (has lived with kids and another dog previously) 💢Awesome temperament 💢Calm, great on a leash 💢About 1.5 years old 💢Potty trained 💢Crate trained 💢Loves snuggles Gus came to us extremely underweight, nearly bald, with open wounds all over his body due to Demodex mange. He has since recovered fully and is ready to find his forever family! Gus was far too interested in the cats when we cat tested him as his herding instincts are present with these types of animals. However, he is great with other dogs and we use him to help introduce new dogs to the rescue. Gus has gone out on multiple Doggie Day Outs and did so well each time! He was his happiest self at the dog park with his rescue buddy (Folly) who has since been adopted. He likes to meet new people and go for car rides! We think he could be a heeler mix because of the speckles but we truly still don’t have a great idea about breed. The regrowth of hair didn’t help us with this as much as we thought it would 😂 Note: Since Gus has a history of Demodex mange, this means he is genetically predisposed to this condition if he does not take flea/tick prevention regularly. This little shy guy has a lot to offer his new family. Dutton has a typical heeler personality and behavior traits . He's very sweet and shy initially. Warms up slowly but is always very kind and respectful. He enjoys playing with other dogs . He's good with children just initially shy at first. He has a beautiful and wonderfully sweet disposition. He's being fostered by Ginny in Memphis, Tn. Once an application has been submitted and approved, Ginny would love to speak with you about him. He lives with another dog and two little adorable boys! Once adopted, Dutton will travel on Rescue Vet Transport to his new forever family. The Transport Company travels to the north east each and every weekend, leaving Memphis, Tennessee around 6 AM Friday morning, starting a group chat with adopters and drivers once departed and making stops along the way all the way up until West Greenwich, Rhode Island transport is an additional $185.
