Story
Cowboy is a little over a year old. He is super affectionate and loves to be with people. We rescued him as a 8 week old puppy from a friend who found him in a parking lot. He has had all his shots and healthy. He plays well with the only other dog in the family but he has never been around a cat to know how he would interact with them. He is funny and keeps us entertained. He is incredibly smart and super athletic. He would make a great agility dog if someone was interested in training him for that. He herds cattle by instinct but we don’t have a big enough herd of cows to need that. He is a heeler by nature and will herd you if you let him. He is also protective and will let you know if someone is at the door. He is an excellent dog and companion. We are re-homing him due to being the care takers of my elderly mother and her health issues. We will only consider a home where he will be wel l lived and cared for as he is a very loving affectionate dog.

Story
Updated 1May25 **Meet Marina** Health Status: Heartworm positive. Completed treatment and just waiting for retest. *Background* Marina was rescued after being found abandoned in a local Memphis parking lot with her puppy. The Good Samaritan who found them is keeping the puppy, but due to her male dog's less-than-friendly attitude toward Marina, she's been separated while fostering. This amazing foster is making it work despite the challenges, knowing that the shelter is over capacity and that every little bit helps. *Personality* Marina is sweet and affectionate, with a lovable spirit that makes her a great companion. She adores kids, making her an excellent choice for families! She's also cat-friendly, fitting easily into a multi-pet household to spread her charm all around! While she enjoys playtime, she's not the most rambunctious dog; she doesn't require someone to run her miles a day. Marina has met a few dogs that aren't her rude male foster sibling and has been good with them so far! She's a very patient mama and a good sport as her puppy has entered the "tornado phase." Marina is easygoing and adaptable, making her a wonderful addition to any home. *Fun Fact* Marina is named after the artist Marina Abramović, reflecting her creative spirit and unique personality! She embodies a laid-back and fun vibe. With her winning personality, she'll be the life of the party, even if she has to teach a few other pets how to share the spotlight! "I'm ready to love and be loved!" *Looking for* A loving forever home where she can thrive and bring joy to her new family! Story
To adopt please fill out an adoption Application  Calm, low energy, low maintenance. Katy is a 5yo female Australian Cattle Dog mix who was rescued running down the highway in rural TN summer 2024. Her rescuers were an older couple who took Katy home and made her part of the family which includes 3 other dogs. Not cat tested. Okay with older dog savvy kids. Good house manners. Housebroken but never crated because she doesn’t need to be. Obeys basic commands.  Loves to be with her people.  Initially, Katy tested positive for heartworms but she was treated without complications and cured. Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots, spayed, weighs about 50 pounds. Here’s some info from Katy’s rescuer/owner:   We found Katy near a busy intersection 10 months ago and decided to keep her but we have 3 high energy dogs and our female recently started picking on Katy. For Katy's sake, we think she is better suited in a much lower energy environment. She’s rather uninterested and indifferent when it comes to other dogs and is happy with her place in the pack. She is fine to co-exist with other dogs, but does not seem to want to engage in play that much. So, she would not be an ideal candidate for an adopter who specifically wants an active playmate for their first dog.  Katy wants a calm environment. If she sees other dogs play fighting, she becomes a “hall monitor” and tries to stop them. If a dog runs past her, she’ll sometimes try to grab them, not in an aggressive way, but just to calm them down like a hall monitor would. (That’s the cattle dog in her!). We let Katy spend the night with a friend who has a dog. Everything was fine until the dog next door came over to play and out came the hall monitor. Katy is a sweet, happy, respectful, and low energy dog. She likes giving and receiving affection, but it’s best to invite her to come to you for affection instead of going in for a big hug. If you get down on her level, she’ll come to you. She doesn’t like sudden, unexpected intrusions into her space. She prefers being pet instead of hugs. Her ideal adopter would be an adult couple or single that wants a happy walking buddy or just a sweet companion. A calm, low energy environment. No small children but she would be fine with older dog savvy kids. No other dogs or maximum one low energy dog.
