Meet Phoebe – The Happy-Go-Lucky Girl Who Thinks Life Is One Big Adventure! Phoebe has never met a stranger, and she's pretty sure the entire world was created just for her to explore! This happy little girl is playful, goofy, curious, adventurous, and incredibly social. She loves people, loves other dogs, and approaches life with the kind of enthusiasm that makes it impossible not to smile. Phoebe isn't interested in sitting around waiting for something exciting to happen. She wants to be part of the excitement! Whether she's investigating something new, playing with another dog, exploring on a walk, or making friends with someone she just met, Phoebe is always ready for a little fun. Active, Adventurous & Full of Puppy Energy Phoebe is still young, but her foster expects her to have high energy as she matures. She's playful, adventurous, and loves being active. Phoebe would likely enjoy a family that spends time outdoors and wants a dog who can eventually participate in activities like hiking, exploring, and longer walks once she's physically mature and her leg has fully recovered. She's not necessarily going to be the kind of dog who's satisfied with a quick potty break and then spending the entire day doing nothing. Phoebe will need opportunities to exercise her body, engage her brain, and enjoy life with her people. Training, enrichment, sniffing games, interactive toys, and veterinarian-approved exercise will all help her develop good habits as she grows. For someone looking for an active companion to share adventures with, Phoebe has plenty of potential. A Little About Phoebe's Back Leg Phoebe had a broken leg when she was a very young puppy. Although she underwent surgery to repair the fracture, the leg did not heal quite as intended. As a result, her kneecap did no heal in its proper position. But here's the wonderful news! The displaced kneecap is not noticeable. She does have a slight limp at times, but that should resolve as she regains full strength in that leg. Phoebe does not let her leg slow her down one bit! She shows no noticeable signs of pain or discomfort and continues to be the happy, playful, adventurous puppy everyone loves. Phoebe is currently working on strengthening the affected leg, and she is expected to make a full recovery. Her future family should be prepared to continue following her veterinary team's recommendations as she builds strength and heals. And while we can't promise exactly how any medical recovery will progress, Phoebe's outlook is encouraging and she is expected to make a full recovery. She may have had a little bump in the road early in life, but her enthusiasm for living it to the fullest hasn't changed a bit! Still a Baby with Lots to Learn Phoebe is still at the very beginning of her training journey. Potty training has been introduced. Her leg injury and 6 weeks of crate rest set her back a bit, so she'll need a consistent schedule as she continues learning. Formal obedience training is still in the early stages, and she hasn't mastered commands yet. Her leash manners are already described as good, which is a nice starting point for such a young puppy. Her future family should be prepared to continue working on: - Potty training - Crate training - Basic obedience - Leash manners - Appropriate greetings - Impulse control - Independent play - Age-appropriate exercise - Mental enrichment - Positive socialization Phoebe is still a baby, and her foster reports no significant behavioral concerns. She just needs someone willing to help her turn all that enthusiasm into good habits. A Puppy Who's Ready to Explore Phoebe already enjoys getting out and experiencing the world. Quiet neighborhood walks, park visits, errands, and other social outings are all activities her foster believes suit her personality. As she grows, she'll need continued safe, age-appropriate exposure to new people, sounds, environments, and experiences. Because she's still a puppy, outings should be appropriate for her vaccination status, physical development, and ongoing leg recovery.
