He has spent most of his life in a shelter in Texas. He is a fun, sweet, loving, smart heeler mix. He has a playful side where he throws toys around but most of the time he just wants to sleep and snuggle!    He’s doesn’t mind his kennel at all! Does so well going potty outside, knows sit command, working on shake. Very food motivated! After being in the shelter so long, he’s learning household manners like not jumping on the table or trying to steal food from the hands of the kids. He does have a bit of the heeler herding in him that comes out when he gets excited and is playing. But he’s really such a well behaved dog. He spends most of his time curled up on the couch. He has so much love to give.April 24, 2026, 1:31 pm

Story
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxQD-9Bt1kw Please read the entire profile. John Connor has been with the rescue since last summer since he and his mom were dumped in the country. He is about 18 months old now and I don't understand why he hasn't been adopted. He is adorable, he only weighs about 40 lbs, he is great with other dogs, people, and cats. Perfect little dude. He loves to run and play and splish splash in the water. He would make a great companion for an active individual or a family that enjoys outdoor adventures or spending lots of time in the backyard. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) -- Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
Mac is the kind of dog who brings a sense of adventure into your life. He’s curious, smart, and independent—always exploring, always discovering, and always ready for whatever the day holds. Mac spends his days exploring the woods, checking out the ponds, and just enjoying being a dog. He loves water, loves movement, and has that natural confidence that makes life with him feel fun and engaging. He’s affectionate and friendly, but not needy—he’s happy to be part of your world while still doing his own thing. That balance makes him both enjoyable and easy to live with. He’s expected to grow into a larger dog and will thrive in a home that enjoys the outdoors or wants a companion for daily activity and exploration. Good fit: someone who wants a smart, adventurous dog to share life with—walks, hikes, exploring, and everyday experiences. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (neutered/spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $550 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
We’ve had Zoey for around 6 years. We got her shortly after Zara in Feb 2020. Zoey is a very loyal and loving dog. She loves her “person” and will follow them around the house. She will get jealous if her person is giving attention to another dog or human. Zoey loves to play fetch and will bring the ball back to you countless times. She loves treats and is very food motivated. She knows sit, down, and shake. She is ok on a leash with a harness. She is create trained and will sit by the back door to go potty. Zoey tolerates kids but not when they want to climb on her or grab her fur. She will run away if that happens and doesn’t like loud environments. She will chase cats but tolerates them. She would do best with a kid free house that is quiet and low stimulating. Both her and Zara love to go to the dog park and go on walks.

Story
Winnie is a simple and easy puppy to love and care for. This sweet girl will melt your heart with her amazing personality and simple love. Her young life started out rough and was found in a dump, but this did not break her. She is independent, smart, and loves to cuddle with you when it's nap time. Winnie has crazy ear days- you never know if both ears are going to be up or down or just one up or down, either way she is always cute. Winnie is very treat motivated, which has worked well for training, but takes a bit of patience as she has none when it comes to getting those treats. She gets along with other dogs and has no problems with cats. She is crate trained and housebroken in her foster home (when she gets to her forever home it may possibly take some time again). Winnie’s favorite things- bones, toys, finding rocks, and running and playing with her sister, Stevie. Winnie is love and happiness and just perfect! These sisters (Winnie and Stevie) have really bonded through their experiences and time spent together. It would be great to adopt them together, but willing to split for the right homes.
