Story
Pumpernickel is my name! Finding my forever home is my game! I’m Pumpernickel, but my besties call me Pumpkin! I’m a young adult male, full grown between 1-2 years of age! I weigh about 50 pounds, but I’m light on my feet! My favorite thing to do is simply hang out with my humans and my doggy friends. I really want another canine brother or sister, either is fine by me! I love every dog I’ve met so far! I love them so much that I might overwhelm dogs that aren’t as passionate about playtime as I am! But I won’t respond to any negativity, I just roll over on my belly and give my best puppy dog eyes. I love people, including kids. I like to give kisses and to snuggle. I’m still learning about the concept of “personal space”, so I hope my forever family doesn’t need too much of it. I am potty trained and crate trained. I wish I didn’t have to go in a crate because I’d rather keep playing, but I am comfortable once I am inside it. I currently take my meals and sleep in my crate overnight, but I’d really rather be curled up with YOU or with a best doggy friend beside me! I walk well on a leash. Again, I want to be right beside you, and sometimes we might get tangled or tripped up, but I’m improving every day. I love to go for walks and adventures! I have the energy to keep up with the best of them, but I can nap afterwards with the best of them too! I was found as a stray and nobody claimed me or wanted me. Sandi Paws told me they’d find the perfect family for me! I’m hoping it could be YOU! So fill out the online application at SandiPaws.org for me and let's make history together xoxoThank you for your interest in a Sandi Paws Rescue, Inc. Story
4 years old Neutered male Looking for a home with kids over 12 years Smart, friendly, and energetic Gets along with other dogs I'm a smart and energetic boy with strong herding instincts, true to my breed. I'm crate trained and do well when left alone, have good leash manners, a reliable recall, and know "sit," "shake," and "lay down." I love car rides and do great at the vet. I'm a friendly and happy-go-lucky guy who loves everyone I meet and get along well with other dogs. My favorite toys are squeaky toys and balls—I could play with them all day! I'm looking for an active family that can keep my body and mind busy. Because of my herding tendencies, I'd do best in a home with older children. If you're looking for a playful and loyal companion, I'm your guy! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.June 13, 2024, 6:25 pm

Story
Remy-Australian Cattle Dog mix-male-neutered-3 years. Meet Remy! Who loves Australian Cattle Dogs? If you do, consider Remy! Remy is a special boy who came to CCHS as a surrender. He was surrendered because he would herd kids and wasn't fond of them. He was also surrendered due to be reactive to other dogs when on leash and behind a barrier. We have seen this at the shelter but if you take charge with Remy, that behavior is diminished. He is a very smart dog and Australian Cattle Dogs will take charge if they can so if you know the breed and can handle their need to be in charge, Remy follows your lead. It does take Remy a little time to warm up to strangers but he's getting better with that at the shelter, because to him, we are all strangers at first! Remy is only around 40 pounds so he's a nice size. He would love a country home where he can be in his element! Remy will chase things outside that move, such as squirrels so training a good recall with him is essential! He is also housetrained but needs time to adjust to your routine. Remy will bond quickly and strongly with his new person. He will be loyal, fun to own and he will be a great best friend. We know it will take a special home to take Remy, further his education and be his leader but we know there is a home for him! He's pretty comfortable at the shelter but it took him some time to warm up, so we expect him to need some time to adjust in a new home. Here is the short list for his new home: No kids. He needs a human that is a good leader. Another dog in the home may be ok as long as the other dog will put up with a Cattle Dog taking the lead. His previous family said cat friendly, but we still need to test him with cats. We just need someone to take the time to give this boy an education because the sky is the limit with him! He has a lot of potential. Apply to meet him at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS

Louco-Blue Heeler/German Shepherd/mix-male-neutered-2 1/2 years. Meet Louco! Louco is a strikingly handsome 63-pound dog who arrived from a neighboring shelter where he had been awaiting a forever home since September. He's a dog that flourishes with structure, shows eagerness to learn, and has a strong desire to please. Louco is the epitome of a happy-go-lucky canine. He has energy and athleticism, and when that energy is directed productively, he excels. Whether it's a structured walk or another activity, he aims to please. He's the ideal candidate for a best friend. With just a bit of effort, exercise, and training, Louco will undoubtedly become an incredible companion. Another charming trait of his is his enjoyment of baths, which he sees as just another form of affection. Apply to meet this stunning boy at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS

Ginger-Australian Cattle Dog/mix-female-spayed-3 years. Meet Ginger! This charming and sweet Australian Cattle Dog is bound to capture your heart. Weighing just about 37 pounds, Ginger was surrendered to us because of landlord issues. She's housetrained and thrives on a consistent routine. Ginger is a submissive dog who may take a moment to get comfortable with new people, but once she does, she's all about the belly rubs! She gets along well with other submissive dogs. Ginger would love to be your new buddy! Apply to meet her at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS
