Story
Meet Efrem (my foster mom calls me Eli). This handsome hunk is about 10 months old and a complete LOVE! ASCZ thinks I am a mix of Kelpie & maybe hound; I am about 35 lbs. I am housebroken. I am crate trained. I love other dogs! I take about 5 minutes to warm up to new people! I love to run & play & explore and go for walks with my people and dog friends. I am intrigued by the resident cat, not mean but I did like to chase her at first. I would probably do great with kids if given the right amount of time to get accustomed to their fast movements and louder kid ways. I live with a 12 year old now and he's cool! I am a little timid at first, but some reassurance goes a long way. I would love a new doggie sibling to play with and give me a little confidence! That would be great because I love to play. I learn quickly and I am a smart cookie and some training, practice on the leash and lots of love will do me good! I have been waiting a long time... my siblings are all adopted... not sure why no one wants me?! But, maybe saving the best for last?? Here is the link to the application for me: https://asecondchanceforziva.org/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
Hi! My name is Carla. I am one and a half years old. I am believed to be an Australian Kelpie or maybe an Australian Shepherd mix. Mainly, I am mixed with love! I am a very happy, energetic, loyal, alert, eager and extremely intelligent young girl with puppy like tendencies. Due to my breed, I am capable of untiring work and endless energy if so desired. I would fit in best with an active lifestyle that includes lots of opportunities to exercise in a large fenced-in yard where I can zip around and show off my athleticism. I can run really fast. My foster mom says I'm like a bullet when I'm running at top speed! Kelpies and Australian Shepherds prefer to have a job to do as they were created to herd sheep and cattle. I will need stimulation and small tasks to keep my mind active and my energy in check. A good job or a workout combined with the mental exercise of obedience lessons would help me be my best version of myself. The mental exercise that the training provides would be a great way to keep me happy and involved. Training me for agility, obedience and rally are some great ways to give me some exercise. Although I sound like a lot of work, I can be chill as well so don't be scared off! I would be an excellent choice for adults and/or families with older (teenage) children that love to play and keep me entertained. While I love being super energetic, I also have an "off" switch too. I'm super happy if you take me out for a run, but I will be just as happy to settle down and snuggle on the couch afterwards to watch a movie. I enjoy being walked twice a day to sniff the neighborhood and do my business. I currently know how to sit and leave it. My foster mom is teaching me some additional words and some other useful commands as well. I learn really fast!! When you meet me you will notice that I have a great smile, love being petted, enjoy fetching and chewing on tennis balls, playing tug with my rope toy, and getting belly rubs. Scratches behind my ears make me very happy as well. I apologize upfront as I can be a bit bossy with other dogs...sorry...kind of a breed characteristic, so I would prefer to be an only dog and cats make my "chase" button turn on, so best to avoid those as well. But don't worry, I can certainly fill up your home with lots of fur baby fun! If you would like to open your heart and your home to me, please email STORKWOODS@COMCAST.NET directly. This is the BEST way to get an application. I am being fostered in Middle TN but there is transport available to fabulous homes in the NE.

This friendly, little guy is just 35 lbs and is a ball of energy. He is just 9 months old and loves to play with all of his toys. We had no idea what his mix is but he probably won't get much bigger. He loves other dogs that can handle his play style which can be a lot for some dogs. He is crate trained and housebroken. Older kids would be best as he may have some type of herding breed in his DNA! He will definitely need someone who can work on his training and keep him actively engaged

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.wagoninn.rescuegroups.org Squirt is an awesome dog who is currently with our partner in Louisiana. Squirt is hoping to come to NJ if we find a foster or adopter. We offer a foster-to-adopt trial for approved adopters. Squirt and his friend Boot were surrendered to our partner rescue in Louisiana. He is now in a foster home in Louisiana with other dogs and cats. Squirt is a timid boy at first and takes a little time to get to know new friends. He is a sweet, loving, well behaved companion. We think he is a Kelpie and/or Shepherd mix. Squirt is fixed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is currently being treated for heartworm and can come to NJ after his treatment. His adoption fee is $550.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. How to Adopt Me! If you are interested in learning more about me, and possibly making me part of your family, please go to    wagoninn.rescuegroups.org   . Click on the orange Online Adoption Application button to fill out an application. A Wag On Inn volunteer will be in touch soon! Story
Hello, future fur-parents! Get ready for a dose of charm, a sprinkle of playfulness, and a whole lot of doggy affection with Poppy, the 4-5 year-old pup stealing hearts! If you want a dog who will let you wrap your arms around her and give her hugs, this pup is for you! What makes Poppy stand out? Well, let us tell you! Poppy is the reigning champion of carrying toys around in her mouth, and occasionally hiding them in her crate or giving them a tour of the Great Outdoors (aka her foster family's backyard). Whether it's a game of fetch or a cozy cuddle with her favorite stuffed animal, she's your go-to playmate. Brace yourself for lotttts of affection Poppy knows she's adorable and will shamelessly request for pets and belly rubs whether or not your hands are available. She might be happiest as the only pup in town, with a heart big enough for all the love you can give. Poppy is quite the fashionista, and is currently rocking a unique reverse mohawk, since she's missing some fur on her back. It's growing back, and our vet gave her a clean bill of health the mystery hair loss only adds to her intrigue. Like any proud Aussie, Poppy can be a little vocal, especially while playing or when expressing her opinions. Poppy doesn't bite but can be a bit mouthy when she's in the zone or sharing her thoughts, so we recommend a home without small children for a seamless match. Unlike most Aussies though, Poppy has a pretty moderate energy level and will hang out with you while you watch TV or work from home, but loves if you'd be willing to take her for a short walk first. Poppy is crate-trained and ready to be the queen of her cozy castle when you're away, but she's trustworthy enough to be left out of the crate, as long as you don't leave out food for her to sneak away with. Poppy is fully housetrained and is good on a leash, but may pull a little sometimes when she's excited.Poppy also passed the cat test at the shelter, though her foster family hasn't had any cats for her to charm or check out her behavior with. Poppy can be a bit skeptical when it comes to some new things, so she does well with folks who can be patient and take the time to earn her trust and show her that things aren't so scary. She's a quick learner though and once she knows it's safe, she's a confident pup. When she arrived to her foster home she was very sure that brushes were bad and scary, and with some trust and patience, she's now pretty comfy being brushed. She's still on the fence about baths, car rides, and seeing the vet, but her foster family thinks she'll get more comfy over time. Ready to embark on a journey of love, laughter, and a touch of whimsy with Poppy? This one-of-a-kind furball is waiting for her forever home, and it could be yours! Come meet Poppy, and let the adventures begin! If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our application. Meetings will not be scheduled without an application.
