He was comfortable enough around me, allowed touch, took treats, interacted some with me, but he really really wanted to play with the big dog in the next yard. He wasn't aloof though! Took treats gently, eager to please and loved being called a good boi, it was a fun yard time for both us us He does seem to be feeling the stress from the shelter, some have had some trouble getting him out of his kennel but he was perfectly behaved for me. This is an active breed, he will need consistent physical and mental exercise to be happy, it is likely what is causing his current stress and occasional barrier reactivity. It is worth noting that he was a very loud bork monster when I first approached his kennel but after 3 treats he was ready to follow me anywhere I was going Knows how to sit, walks well on the leash (just a tiny bit of pulling) and seemed potty trained!! ##2528145##

She was found abandoned in an apartment complex in June. Since then, she has been spayed and vaccinated, and we are looking for a permanent home for her. This sweet girl is friendly with dogs, cats, and people. She especially loves meeting new people and making furry friends! She has several cat housemates, whom she is friendly with and respectful of their space. Penelope is an active girl who loves going on walks and to the dog park. Once she gets enough exercise, she is calm and relaxed in the house. She walks well on leash, although she may pull when she spots a dog she’d love to play with. She’s also a great housemate. Penelope is crate trained and house trained, comfortably stays in her crate for 6+ hours, and sleeps in her crate at night. She doesn’t bark when left alone and only occasionally barks when someone knocks on the door. Penelope already knows “sit” and is working hard on “stay” and “come”. Like many young, enthusiastic pups, she’s also learning that all four paws belong on the floor when greeting people. Penelope will be a fun, affectionate, active companion who loves people, walks, and adventure. We took her in at about 5 months old in December 2025. She is now about 1 year old and is a small/medium Red Heeler mix. She is a very sweet, energetic girl who loves attention and playing. She has been raised with a much larger dog and they get along very well. She is also crate trained and loves playing with toys. She has lots of personality and would thrive with someone who can keep her active and involved. She is very active and would do best with someone who has the time and experience for a young, high-energy dog. She is an escape artist and will dig under fencing, so she needs secure containment and supervision outdoors. She also has a high prey drive and cannot go to a home with chickens, poultry, or other small livestock. Our current schedule doesn't allow us to provide the exercise, supervision, and training she needs. She is a loving girl with lots of personality and potential, and we want to find someone who can give her the active, secure home and time she deserves.
