ASAP! We are looking to re-home Piper who is a neutered male Australian Shepherd born 2/5/2022 ~ 57lbs. Tail is not docked. His shots are up to date. Rabies was just done in May. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old. He is house trained, knows sit, shake, and lay down. He does okay on a leash, better with a harness, but can be reactive. He loves other dogs. He loves people but has shown protective and herding instincts. He got out of his collar and nipped at a lady's sleeve recently. He also nipped at a young girl who snuck up on us. A report was made with animal control for the second incident. Both injuries were superficial - a scratch. He would be best in a home with a yard. He does not do well with young kids because he wants to herd them. I am unsure how he would do with cats because he hasn't been exposed to them other than seeing them a window. He is affectionate, snuggly, and playful.

COURTESY - Chamaign, IL - owners contact info is at the bottom of the bio Meet Lucy! Lucy is an energetic, 7-year old, 30-pound black tricolor bob tail miniature Australian Shepherd female. Who could resist that adorable face? She is SLOW to trust, but once she trusts her humans, she is velcro! She will bond quickly to her person, but is very apprehensive and scared of strangers and new things. But Lucy is more than good looks. She may not be a perfect angel, but she IS fiercely loyal to her humans. She loves constant attention and to cuddle up with her humans. She loves being outside, but must be in a fenced yard. She has had some professional training and does well on her walks. She knows her basic commands. She would do best in a home with no small children or other pets. Ideally, a home away from heavily trafficked streets would be best as she is a very anxious dog. Lucy roams freely in the home during the day without any issues. She is very well behaved at the groomers and the vet’s office. Lucy, of course, is a work in progress. She has some protective instincts that need to be refined to be her best self. Cats and little critters are for chasing, so not good housemates. Lucy can be a bit resource protective as food and toys are her treasures. She is also very protective of her crate as she sees it as her safe space. She does well in her crate and sleeps in it at night. In fact, Lucy goes into her crate when she wants a little down time. She is being rehomed because she is very protective of her property and is herding small children away who come over to play. Homeowners live on a busy street with lots of children and it has become an unsafe environment for those children. We are searching for Active folks who love Aussie awesomeness and appreciate all that comes with an Aussie attitude - the joys and the challenges - are going to adore Lucy. We are located 10 min east of Champaign IL. Contact is Jennifer at jenham422@yahoo.com There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions.

URGENT Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Chatham, IL Meet Piper! He is an 1 year old Australian Shepherd/English Shepherd mix that weighs 57 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on his rabies and distemper shots, and on heartworm preventatives. Piper is great with other dogs! He hasn’t been tested around cats. No small children please, due to his reactivity! He is also crate-trained and housebroken. Piper has a bite history. He nipped a lady’s arm who walked up behind him while the owner’s sister was walking him. He has also nipped a little girl who snuck up behind them while the owner was walking him. He needs a home with a patient owner who is willing to work on his training and socialization! The owner is surrendering him because the apartment complex said he has to go. He needs to go by 5/31! If you think you can provide a great home for Piper, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $100 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Piper. Owner’s Contact Information: Shannen Gillespie at (760) 705-0643 or shannen.nicole.gillespie@gmail.com.

Story
Some dogs are easy. They love everybody and everything and have no quirks or issues. But doesn’t that make life kind of boring? Brayleigh is anything but boring. This girl was found as a stray roaming the streets of Texas. She had raging skin and ear infections and barely any fur. She’s also blind and deaf. But Bray is a strong and sassy survivor. With help from our vet care team, she had regular medicated baths and her beautiful coat started to grow in. Then she was a trooper and had dual luxating patella surgery. Through it all, Bray has remained true to herself. She’s very complex: She doesn’t like strangers and abhors men, but likes female humans and male dogs. Once she makes friends, she’s very sweet, affectionate, and playful … as long as you don’t try to brush out her mats or clip her nails. She’s gone through a lot in her 5-6 years and she knows what she doesn’t like! Bray loves to play, but is also content to lie down near her person. She isn’t terribly Velcro, but she does like to know where her human is. She likes to play with toys or just carry them around. We’re guessing she maybe didn’t have any her whole life, so now she will sometimes fall asleep with a toy in her mouth. It’s pretty adorable. Bray’s DNA test shows she’s a mix of Australian shepherd, Australian koolie, Australian cattle dog, and shar-pei. She’s a great size at just about 25 pounds. She’s good on a leash, great in a crate, and will potty outside if it’s dry or inside on a pad. She knows the touch command for “come” and is pretty convinced that’s all she needs to know right now. Brayleigh will need a very specific home with just a patient woman or women, preferably someone who has had experience working with “interesting” dogs. She’d probably prefer to be an only dog, but could live with a laid-back male canine sibling. Bray also needs a fenced-in yard for safety and would prefer someone home most of the time, although she is good on her own. She can be left uncrated and will use her potty pad and isn’t the least bit destructive. Brayleigh has allergies so she needs regular shampooing and brushing, daily medication, and weekly injections. Yes, she has many issues and can be difficult and stubborn. But don’t we all? It’s going to take a very special person to adopt this very special girl. But Brayleigh is so lovable, it’s worth the time it takes to get to know her. Plus she gives the biggest and best sloppiest kisses. ##915140##

Story
The tango is a dance that focuses on flair, love, and playful movement. We think our little Tango puppy was well-named. This Aussie mix is sweet, loving, and snuggly. But he’s also very playful and full of personality and can even be independent at times. He is a very busy, very nosy boy who always likes to know what’s going on. And he looks great while he’s doing it! Tango has so many favorite activities. He loves to explore, play tug of war, and sit on his person’s lap. He adores other dogs and wants to run and wrestle with them. Tango is hearing and vision impaired, but it doesn't stop him from dancing through life. He is a smart boy and has already learned “sit” and is working on “come” and “stay.” He’s also doing great with house training and crate training. His ideal home will have a fenced-in yard and another dog buddy. And perhaps a dance floor. ##1475452##

Story
"My name is Blue and I bet you can tell why! I have the most amazing crystal blue eyes you have ever seen! I was brought here on April 11, 2020. A relative brought me here because I wasn't living in the best of circumstances. Soon, I was adopted!! Sadly, my adopter Dave passed away and now I'm back at the shelter to find a new home. (To learn more about me and Dave, click this Facebook link and read the comments: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=268035965592307&set=p.268035965592307). I loved being with Dave every day. He gave me anything I wanted , and it shows! I'm a little on the heavy side....well...maybe ALOT on the heavy side. (These photos are of me back in 2020.) The folks here say a diet is in my future. Don't let this steer you away. I will lose weight as long as you have that diet word in my new home, along with some good exercise in a fenced in yard or daily walks with my new family. I love everyone, am friendly and will make a nice family dog! I'm a great medium-size dog. I know basic commands and am super handsome. I have a cute curly tail, and a great smile. I'm not a big barker. I like walks by the beach and sunset cruises. Well, at least I THINK I'd like that. But, I'd REALLY like a nice family who would love me forever." .............. Story
"Hi there! My name is Bunny. I was picked up as a stray on April 8, 2023. I'm about 12-18 months old; playful and friendly! The folks here say I have the coloring and temperament of the Red Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) and the build of a Mountain Cur. Sadly, I don't remember my parents or know exactly what breeds I am. But, I do know I'm very smart, energetic and fun. I would love an active, outdoorsy family or to be a farm dog! I'm the kind of dog that thrives on structure--I'll do best as a loyal soldier, following the orders and duty of my patient owner. I was tested with cats and friendly dogs here and passed with flying colors! Before I came here, I had not been on a leash much, so I'm learning how to not pull---a training collar helps a lot. Could you be the family for me? Come meet me---bring your other dog(s) and kids so we can see!" ..... Please come meet this sweet soul soon!
