Story
Cruz Control: Activated. 🕶️🐾 Cruz is a one-year-old shepherd mix with a built-in bobtail, a mile-wide grin, and an advanced degree in stick collecting. He’s the ultimate combo of sweet, smart, and gloriously weird—and he’s ready to bring chaos (the lovable kind) to a home of his own. 🎭 Part-time goofball, full-time good boy. Cruz currently lives with two medium-sized foster sisters and thinks they’re pretty cool. It took him a day or two to settle in, but now he wrestles, zooms, and plays with them like they’ve known each other forever. He loves other dogs—but like any gentleman, he needs a proper introduction before he’s ready to mingle. With a little structure and some space to get comfortable, he’s all in. 🚫 Not crate trained (yet). 💩 Not potty trained (yet). But he’s working on both like it’s his job. 😼 As for cats—Cruz could live with confident, dog-savvy ones who can handle a little “OMG A CAT” energy at first. 🐶 He thrives with other playful dogs, especially those his size, and would do best with a buddy who can match his energy (or at least tolerate it with grace). 🏡 Cruz would love a home with: ✨ A securely fenced yard—he runs, explores, and plays with his foster sisters daily ✨ A consistent routine and humans who appreciate a dog with opinions ✨ Room for all his toys (and yours) ✨ Someone who says “Cruz, come here!” just to watch him sprint over with that goofy happy face 🧼 Surrendered at 1 year old, Cruz is still figuring out some of the basics, but he’s adjusting beautifully to home life. He’s funny, loyal, and always down to help you with whatever you’re doing… especially if it involves snacks. 👉 Adopt Cruz before he upgrades his foster’s backyard to a nationally certified zoomie track.

Harper’s Compatibility:Dogs - Meet & GreetCats - Passed Her Cat TestKids - Best suited for a home with kids 16+Some dogs are just different in the best way possible, and that’s Harper. At 7 years old, she’s smart, independent, and full of personality. She’s not the type of dog who’s going to follow you around all day, but she’ll always be there when it counts, curled up next to you on the couch, watching over the house like it’s her personal kingdom, or waiting for a snack (because let’s be honest, food is her love language).Harper is brilliant. She picks up on emotions, senses bad days, and loves having a job to do. She thrives on routine, structure, and training. She’s one of those dogs who enjoys learning just as much as she enjoys lounging. She can be a little picky about her social circle, preferring slow introductions and respectful interactions, but once you’re in, you’re in.She’s housebroken, crate-trained, and fiercely loyal to her people. She appreciates a calm, predictable home where she can be her best self without too much chaos. She’s affectionate but likes to do things on her own terms. Think of her like a dog with a cat’s soul.Harper is looking for a home that appreciates her brilliant mind, her independent streak, and her unwavering devotion. If you’re ready for a true companion with a personality all her own, come meet Harper at HSHC!

Story
Meet Hannah a 1 year old Catahoula/Cattle Dog mix and the sweetest velcro dog you ever met. Hannah was born deaf and was neglected and possibly abused the first year of her life in the home of a breeder. She was then surrenderedto a shelter living on borrowed time due to capacity concerns. Shewas extremely scared and confused and didn't know what was going on until she was brought into afosterhome. We had to give this girl a chance to blossom and she is quickly becoming this sweet and happy velcro dog.In the past five weeks in her foster home she has gained so much confidence and has become such a sweet girl. She loves listening to music loudly in the car on the way for a pup cup especially Enya. She probably likes to feel thevibrations or the beat. She does generally well in the car and has now learned to hop in and out with no problems. She loves her walks and will walk right next to you. Sometimes a little too close where she will accidentallystep on the back of my feet but she just wants to be so close so she feels safe on our walks. After a good long walk she enjoys sitting on the couch watching TV (with subtitles) with her foster family. Hannah's favorite genres are sci-fi cooking shows and rom-coms. She doesn't seem to like Stanley Tucci and she growls when he pops on the screen. We won't fault her for that. Due to her past she is very wary and cautiousof male figures and slow to come around them but shows promise with repeatedexposure. Her favorite special treats are cheetos and doggie icecream. She has perfect potty manners and will let you know when she needs to go. She is crate trained and her crate is her safespace that needs to be respected. She is doing very well living in a home with big and little dogs and several cats. She is respectfulof the cats and if there is a patient feline in the home that loves to snuggle in a bed with her she would be over the moon. She looks to her doggie foster siblingsfor her queues and mimics what theydo. Hannah wants to be in a pack. She will need a home with another dog friend that can be her forever companion and most importantly her guide and leader. This is a must. She also needs a completely fenced in yard for her protection. No holes or gaps. Hannah will take some time and effort but I believe in her. She is a diamond in the ruff :). Hannah being deaf doesn't define Hannah. She is kind sweet and needs a patient loving home that will appreciate her and make her feel safe for the rest of herlife.Home inspection will be required as part of the finalization of adoption of Hannah. Story
Update: going to Indy humane 7/9. We’ve had Wickett for the last 5 years. He has travelled many states with us and hiked many trails and has ran freely as a farm dog in between. We believe now at this stage of his life he would do best with an experienced family with no kids or kids that are older and can respect his space. Our son is in his toddler years and there is a lot of sporadic movements and food that puts him in difficult situations. He is friendly around our son and enjoys his pets when they are supervised. He is muzzle trained. Very sweet and loving dog. Wants to be with/near his people. Is very smart and food driven. Loves to chase squirrels/small animals and can jump 4ft fence. Meets new people best when he is outside in open space. Let him approach in his own time. Very protective of his space and area. He knows sit, stay, down, paw, touch. He has a dog brother for past 5 years and just takes time being introduced to other dogs and animals.
