Story
Lexie is a 7 year old Austalian Shepherd mix. Full of energy, this incredibly sweet girl is looking for a life partner to explore with. she loves couch time with her favourite people. trying to read a book? well, be prepared to have a dog flipping every page for you, as she knows no personal space! Lexie would do best as an only dog and with kids 13+ years of age. she maybe super playful and full of energy, but she does enjoy her alone time.

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Diesel. I'm about 8 months old and I weigh about 30 lbs currently. I am extremely underweight. I was surrendered to the pound, along with my friend Derby, because our owner was unable to provide proper care for us. I am extremely sweet and very affectionate. I will need a patient family that is able to work with me on training and finishing up my housebreaking. I get along well with other dogs and I love to play. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Please contact melissa (melissa@pawsandprayers.org) for more information about this pet.  Meet Harry! He is about 1-1/2 years old, weighs almost 40 pounds, and is an Aussie mix. Harry is friendly, energetic, and bouncy.  He gets along with other dogs and his human friends. Harry enjoys playtime with his younger dog friends, but has been around older dogs also. He has done well with the kids he has met at events. He has not met cats.  Harry is crate trained.  He will greatly benefit from training to work on his leash manners and would do well with an active family.  Harry is an active guy and would go great with an active adopter that enjoys walking or running. His adoption fee includes age-appropriate vaccines, microchip, and neuter. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application today at our website  www.pawsandprayers.org. Harry's adoption fee is $250.    ***The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application today at our website www.pawsandprayers.org. Inquiries submitted through Petfinder or other third-party websites do not submit as applications in our database. Current/previous veterinarians need permission to speak with us; if we are not able to speak with them, we cannot complete the review of your application.*** April 27, 2024, 9:01 am

Story
Wagga Wagga, named for a city in Australia is a sweet Australian Shepherd puppy. The Pups were born January 1, 2024. They are sweet, smart, have all their first shots (distemper/parvo/lepto, Bordetella, one year rabies) been microchipped, and are on heartworm/flea meds and are wormed. Wagga is the most unusual of the group. His left eye has a beautiful blue circle surrounding it. To adopt this beautiful puppy, please do our non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org and we will see if it is a good fit for you and the pup. Any questions, email marty@pawsandprayers.org .We are requiring a fenced yard for these puppies. Thinking about a new puppy….. things to keep in mind: Puppy will need time, training, love and connection, mixed in with a load of attention. Best if children are school age or older; we will consider younger children only on exception basis. Puppies have small bladders and need to have someone to let them out regularly for potty breaks…..work from home, work part-time, come home at lunch…..need a plan as they will need you every 4 to 5 hours until they are at least 6 to 8 months old. Will your current pet be willing to accept a new puppy. Puppies can be a handful. Will you be traveling extensively for the next couple of months? Puppy proofing your home is like baby proofing you home; it requires effort. Puppies can go to their new homes from 8 weeks, but holding on a little longer and letting them go around 12 weeks can be really beneficial, as their development and socializing will be a lot more established by that point. Those few extra weeks can make a big difference in how they act in their new home….. more social, less nippy. The adoption fee is $400. April 27, 2024, 9:01 am
