Story
Roe’s life wasn’t always filled with love. For years she was used only for breeding, never knowing what it meant to be part of a family. When her owner no longer wanted her, she was surrendered to our rescue. But Roe’s gentle spirit shines through her past. She is sweet, resilient, and eager to give love now that she finally has the chance. She’s learning about soft beds, belly rubs, and the joy of just being a dog. Roe is ready for her fresh start—with a forever family who will love her not for what she can give, but for who she is.

Story
Bonnie is a 2 year old Aussie shepherd/sheltie mix female. She is only 25 pounds and does not mind being an only dog. She is dog selective but prefers males and will play non stop. She is up to date on all vaccines, microchipped and spayed and ready to go to her new home. She jumps up a lot. Working on the jumping but part of that is her young energy. She loves to kiss people and likes sitting outside when it is sunny. To adopt Bonnie, please do our non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org so we can see if you are a good match. She is a bit of an escape artist. Her adoption fee is $350. Any questions, email marty@pawsandprayers.org.  She was positive for Anaplasma Phagocytophilum and Lyme tick disease so we will gave her medication for 30 days.  She will need to have bloodwork done again in another 6 months to see if she needs any antibiotic again. It is cheap (around $10 for 30 pills) and is a small pill. Hopefully it is cleared up now. Her young age works in her favor. Story
Looking for a quieter, payient home. Can be a single lady or a couple but so far Amy will not willingly greet men at meet and greets. Amy is 11 months old, house trained, crate trained, and has been to 6 weeks of obedience classes... She did spend the first 6 months of her life in a pen outside with her littermates,;so she is shy and would love a new owner that can work with her on socializing. Once in a new home, she can lovingly be called a loyal velcro pooch. No children please, as she was adopted and returned due to her being afraid of littles! Her dad is an Australian Shephard and mom is Boxer/Pit bull terrier. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and a loving little girl. Her adoption fee is $300. To meet her you can do a non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org.  Any questions, email kreuger9367@yahoo.com      November 12, 2025, 4:58 am

Story
Margie is a sweet Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie/Australian Shepherd mix girl weighing in at 46 pounds. Paws and Prayers received her after she and her sister were hit by a car. Another rescue took her sister. Margie limped and had a luxated patella so we took her to access possible surgery. Unfortunately when blood work was completed she had all three tick diseases with a finding of 467. The three kind of tick diseases were Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis and Lyme. A reading of 30 means they are experiencing problems with the tick disease so three vets were talked to had NEVER seen 467 and referred the findings to specialty vets who said it was not a time for surgery.. Also, she had a corona virus in her blood. Surgery could not be completed under these circumstances. If the leg was operated on it would probably get infected and would be of no use.  So we waited and she had several doses of antibiotics. It took 5 months to clear her blood but by that time scar tissue formed on the leg and she would not get much relief from surgery. She will always have a little bit of a limp and need medication as arthritis will probably set in as she gets older. She will need Carprofen and Gabapentin the rest of her life. Her foster mom has been paying for it and says it would cost about $33 a month. She would also need to be checked in another six months to verify extent of tick disease and recovery rate.  And of course, she will need to be on heartworm and flea medications. Definitely needs a home without too many steps. She can go down my three steps to the outside but I have to lift her back end up to get her up the steps. Margie is frightened of new people but once she bonds with you , she will love so deeply, you will never be able to let her go. Her adoption fee is $350. You will need to complete a non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org in order to meet her. Any questions, email marty@pawsandprayers.org.   This pet qualifies for the Pets for Patriots program  https://www.petsforpatriots.org/veterans/ December 5, 2025, 3:39 am
