Story
Meet Harper, a cat with a tale that's straight out of a fairy tale. Once upon a time, Harper lived in a world where cats could talk and make wishes. One day, Harper wished for an endless supply of belly rubs and bed snuggles. His wish was granted, but with a twist - he was transported to our world, where only humans could provide him with the affection he craved. That's how Harper ended up at the shelter. He's sweet, cuddly, and a bit goofy, but also a little shy. He loves belly rubs and snuggling in bed. Harper's magical journey has brought him here, but he's still waiting for his biggest wish to come true - to find a forever home where he can share his love and magic. Adopt Harper, and fill your home with his magical love and warmth. ##1663263##

Story
This kitten was found in the garden of the senior apartments where I live, along with a companion kitten, but probably not a sibling. They were covered in fleas; one of the residents gave them flea baths, and sheltered them overnight. She wants to be involved in everything & she will learn your routine. Her dominant personality traits are her intelligence, her athletic ability (her ‘acrobatics’ is more accurate), and how much she likes to show off. She wants to be close to you and wants, and needs to be, a companion. She loves to play and would like a playmate. She is so intelligent she learned to play fetch in a day and a half, she learned to jump up on my shoulder (soft landing no claws). I am hoping for a perfect home for her. I have had her for 2+ months (what might be half her life). With some idea of her personality, I will try to tell you about her. To discuss her possible adoption, contact me through the shelter or email, for her full bio (and to discuss adoption).

Story
SAGE is a beautiful and special female Egyptian Mau / Domestic Shorthair cat, 1 year in age. Sage is playful and curious. She loves exploring and appreciates her independence. We currently have her as our office cat. She is used to being around other cats and dogs, but we feel she will be happiest as the only cat in her future home. Sage has a funny personality, she loves rubbing her little body on everything. She adores receiving attention and affection. Sage is a happy and chill cat looking for a forever home where she can love and be loved. If you are not located near our rescue or if the drive is a problem for you, please still apply, as we bring animals out to as far as San Diego in order to bring them to their forever homes. Currently, we are driving animals far out on an as-needed basis! If an animal is posted from us, they are AVAILABLE, however we sometimes do already have an adopter in place to meet them - however, please apply directly ASAP to ensure you get considered to meet them! We approve based on the best home, not first-come-first-serve. If you are interested in adopting and think you can provide a great home for this pet, please complete an online application so that we can better assess if this pet is a good match for you and your family. Once that is complete and we've approved you, we can set up a time for you to meet your potential companion for life! We are strictly by appointment-only. We apologize if you cannot reach us via phone, it is a personal phone # - we recommend emailing at cats@vida4animals.org for the quickest response. We apologize if we do not get to you quickly - we only have a few staff and volunteers, and we must focus on finding our animals good homes, but if you would like to help us improve and volunteer, let us know! PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE YOU RESPOND. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. KONA and her siblings (PELE - PRISCILLA - RINGO - FELIX - LULU) were saved from the shelter. They were so scared and underaged. They were in danger so we had to find a foster quickly! KONA has been ready for her FUREVER home for a long time! KONA is a playful girl who loves to talk. When she’s hungry, she will follow you around meowing at you until you feed her wet food. Her favorite place to be is playing inside of a cardboard box. She loves a box full of toys so she can jump inside and dump all of the toys out. KONA is a DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / EGYPTIAN MAU-TABBY MIX. She is 2 years and 5 months old and is good with cats and small children. In her foster home, she is around other kittens and older cats. She has never been around dogs. She will do best with a strong cat that can handle her playing and strong will. Or she will be good by herself. KONA is currently located at a foster home in Beaumont, California. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Go to Workinwhiskers.com (Click on ADOPT) 2. Fill Out Online Form 3. Submit Online Application 4. Someone Will Call / Text to Do Phone Interview 5. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. KANE and ABEL were saved from the shelter. They were unsocial and sick. Now he is ready to be adopted. KANE is still a bit shy. But he will warm up. He loves his soft food and loves to play with his foster siblings. He is very affectionate and loves to play!! Total lap cat. KANE has literally learned to watch TV. And in one of the pictures, you can see him siting while he watches TV. He loves to play. He loves to talk too! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Welcome to Act 2 Rescue where you become part of our A2R family. Adoption is an important time in your life and we are grateful to be a part of it. We take pride in offering you a personalized adoption experience with continuing behavioral support as needed. -Mindy Gould, CEO Hello,  I am a wonderful kitty but I prefer to be the center of my family's world so please just me in your home. Life has been hard, but I am incredibly loving and need affection. I prefer to come to you and love on you especially during computer time. I make a great companion and will sleep with you. I was originally found dumped at a park and starving in a high coyote area. I was rescued and stayed at A2R for a while until I trusted humans in 2021. I was fixed and rehomed to an amazing lady who is a nurse. We loved eachother dearly and I was the light of her life. Unfortunately her health became so severe we had to part and I am mourning my wonderful meowmy. I would like to find a home with someone who could use an ESA or companion as I need one too. I hope this will be my last time in a new home, it has been stressful and I will need some patience because I tend to hide right now but when you sit down, I am all over cuddling you.   Please help me feel loved and wanted again. My foster meowmy is helping me heal but only a forever home can really do the trick.  Love, Jesse PS.I am all ready for my new home! I have been seen by a veterinarian, had all shots I was able to get when I was sterilized or they checked my sterilization status and microchipped!  All I need now is you! I am currently living in a foster home and am fully litter trained. Act 2 Rescue will even help you make sure I am able to integrate into your human and pet family with their behavioral coaching support during the transition period. I can't wait to meet you so please fill out an application for me today and join the A2R family! _______________________________________________________________________  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please be aware we are a small foster based rescue in Riverside, California. Our volunteers often have other jobs/careers as well. We are not a government funded shelter and all of our donations and adoption fees are used to run the rescue and help the animals in our care. Since we are no kill, higher fees for in demand breeds help us cover critical care.  We are always in need of volunteers, donations, and fosters. Please excuse any wait times as we are often inundated with emergencies or short staffed. You can learn more about us on our website https://act2rescue.org or at www.allmylinks.com/act2rescue    Steps 1-2  of the ADOPTION PROCESS must be done before we do OFFICIAL MEET & GREETS or take deposits.  To keep animals healthy,  we limit  foster based meet & greets  to people fully qualified to adopt them.   No animals can be held without a $75 deposit. Deposits cannot be refunded if you change your mind, they are to hold a cat and can result in other adopters being told they cannot adopt. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1.  Application:  Log into our website and complete the adoption application at link below: Applications :  Forms (rescuegroups.org) 2. Virtual Home Check: Once your application is approved, check back if you haven't been scheduled for a virtual home check within 48 hours.  A virtual home check to ensure safety of your residence for your kitty (not perfect cleanliness). You will be told during the visit if you pass.  3. Official meet & greet with your kitty at an adoption event, foster care, or adoption center depending on location of the kitty.   We only have a few  volunteers,  so we apologize at times we fall behind due to high demand of some cats.  5. Sign adoption contract and, if appropriate, foster to adopt clause. 6. Pay adoption fee via zelle using act2rescue@gmail.com (not our phone number) or using cash. We can accept cards at adoption events but the terminal charges fees that are pretty high so it's not the best option.  7. Take your kitty home. Be sure to isolate kitty while they adjust to your home. We may check in from time to time to be sure you do not need any additional support because we love hearing how our kitties are doing. As volunteer staff, happy stories are literally our paycheck.  8. Check out our website https://act2rescue.org for resources, blogs and info on how to best take care of your new kitty. Our professional behavior coach is available via text to assist you with transition as well. We also have a Facebook group to interact with our behavior coach and other kitten care experts, as well as our A2R family like you! ****Please note, we do not have dedicated staff for phone lines so please text instead of calling. If the cat/kitten is listed, they are available. However, they could have pending applications or meet and greets scheduled. Filling out an application and approval does not obligate you to adopt the kitty. If they are not a fit...we have plenty of other kitties for adoption. This kitty has received at least two FVCRP vaccines, rabies if over 4 months, Revolution for fleas/ticks/heartworms/stomach parasites/ear mites, de-wormer, sterilization*, and microchip (you must register for it to work but it's free).  All kitties are given a general wellness check by a veterinarian prior to sterilization.  Deposits: The only way we can hold a kitty is with a non-refundable (if you decide not to adopt within 2 weeks not if we void the adoption) deposit of $75. We reserve the right to void the adoption up until the point the contract is signed. If we cancel the adoption (for kitty health or other issues) we will refund your deposit. If you wait longer than 2 weeks, we cannot hold the kitty due to space constraints. Your deposit could be used on another kitty. If you decide not to adopt at all, any deposit will go to the care of animals rescued with us and may be written off as a donation.   Foster to Adopt: Kittens must be 2 lbs or 8 weeks and fixed to be adopted. This will be noted in the approximate available date. If a kitty is unable to be fixed in a timely manner, they may foster to adopt. This would be all adoption paperwork and donations would be exchanged and the kitten would go home. Adoption paperwork will have a clause that it is not final until animal is sterilized.  Once the sterilization appointment arrives you must bring them in to be sterilized or the animal will have to be returned to the rescue. You may also have them sterilized on your own and show proof to the rescue. Once sterilized the adoption will be complete. We normally do not do these in this manner but due to extreme situations they may arise. Final health checks are done during sterilization. Any unknown health issues would also allow you to choose a different cat.   Failure to comply with sterilization will result in returning the animal to us without refund of donations. Breeds:  We cannot guarantee breed but do our best to identify possible breeds based on their appearancxe and personality. If you DNA test your furry friend, let us know the results. It is fun to see what the kitty actually is and how close our guess is. Please know not all DNA companies test for all breeds and the science is still catching up so it may adjust later to have breeds we saw. We like to know so we can improve our analysis too.   We cannot guarantee health but go to great lengths to have healthy kitties. Kitties do not live in a cattery but in private fosters for this reason.  Snap Testing: We do not test for FELV/FIV in healthy animals as it is often incorrect in animals under 6 months and can be a false positive. False negatives also give a false sense of security. These tests are best done if an animal is unhealthy to determine disease.  https://www.uwsheltermedicine.com/library/resources/why-are-some-shelters-no-longer-testing-all-cats-for-felv-and-fiv April 22, 2024, 4:08 pm
