Story
Hi, I’m Frankie (Francis is my name when I am feeling fancy). I’m a 5-year-old Tri Colored English Bulldog and have the heart of a puppy. When you first meet me, my nubby tail will be wiggling and I will let you fall in love with me. But when you take me home, I will be reserved and shy at first. I will slowly open up and show you my silly side. I will be your shadow so you no longer have to go to the bathroom alone. I am super smart and food motivated. I know how to sit, high five, down, and stay/wait. I’m working on leave it, drop it, and answering to my name (to be honest, I know my name, I just really like the treats). I would do best as an only dog or with a dog that is submissive, and with a family who will set firm and consistent boundaries. I’ve been living with a 5 year old child, and while I do LOVE HER, I have jumped at her when we all are excited, so I might be better suited with a family with children no younger than 5. (By the way, I can jump super high). I absolutely love my toys and food, but I can get a little protective of them. Since I spent some time living on the streets, I learned to guard what was mine to stay safe. Because of that, it’s best if other pets give me space during mealtime or when I have a toy. With love, patience, and consistency, I know I can learn to relax and share more easily. I walk very well on a leash, and like to stop to look at other dogs. I go potty outside (I use a doggie door at my foster’s house), and I enjoy baths and playing in the kiddie pool. I do worry when you are away, but if you promise to always come back, I can handle you leaving from time to time. I love my ears and butt scratches, and apparently my eyebrows are good luck so don’t forget to rub those. I will be your best friend, if you’ll be mine. So let’s be roommates and I will promise to be a good loyal boy. ****Please email ADOPT@VALLEYDOGS.ORG to meet me!

Story
Are you wondering what a shar pei rescue is doing with a pair of bulldogs...well so are we! It was a complete moment of weakness. Meet Bertha. This girl is as wide as she is tall but she has started her intermittent fasting, youtube ab videos and twice a day walks. This girl loves to walk so we are excited to see her waist line start to become visible This girl is great with people and other dogs. She did come in with her man Butkus but they do not need to be adopted together but we would love to see her go to a home with another dog. They had their first vet visit and honestly all their medical issues are pretty much identical to the medical problems we see with Shar Pei. Her tear production was reduced so we are going to assume she will need lifetime eye drops to replace that decreased tear production. Her skin was in great shape but did have an ear infection so an adopter that is familiar with weekly ear maintenance. She loves car rides and walks great on a leash. She is very friendly with all the dogs and people she meets on her daily walks.  She is fostering in Phoenix AZNovember 21, 2025, 11:14 am

Story
Meet Butkus....yep he is definitely not a shar pei. Call it a moment of weakness but seriously how could we let this guy get euthanized over some pretty breed specific medical issues which happen to be right up our alley in the shar pei world. Butkus might be the happiest boy ever. He loves everyone. His tail never stops wagging or what whatever you call that little nub.  Thank God he is cute and sweet because this guy is not the brightest bulb on the tree. So if you are the person who likes your dogs good looking and sweet and not concerned if they never figure out how to sit this is your guy! He loves car rides but so far is not a fan of walking but we are convinced with the help of Bertha he will realize how much he loves it. He is a good sized boy at 58lbs. He was seen by our vet yesterday and like Bertha did have decreased tear production in both eyes. He will need his cherry eyes addressed at time of surgery. His skin is already improved with regular bathing. Fostering in phoenix AZNovember 21, 2025, 11:36 am

LEROY WRIGLEY – YOUR HOLIDAY HIP-HOPPING BULLDOG ELF Age: 2 years old • From: The 5 Freeway + Orange County Shelter • Status: Naughty-but-Nice and Ready for a Forever Home My Christmas Rescue Tale Ho, Ho, HOLD UP — let me tell you how I landed in the Freedom Squad. One minute I was roaming the 5 freeway (don’t ask… I have zero survival skills except wobbling fast), and the next thing you know, the shelter humans were sending out a full rescue plea because nobody could touch me. Not a single elf. I was “not adoptable,” whatever that means. Freedom Frenchie Rescue said, “Move—we got him.” They sent a whole action team to scoop my dramatic bulldog booty, get me to San Diego, and then all the way to Arizona where the real magic started. Decompression, Cookies, and Learning Humans Aren’t So Bad When I got to Mo’s house, they gave me my own cozy space to decompress, breathe, and finally learn the joy of regular meals (yes, several a day, thank you very much). They taught me what “potty outside” means, gave me soft blankets, talked to me gently, and showed me what safe love feels like. And slowly… the “don’t touch me!” Grinch in me started melting like a snowman in Phoenix. My Hip-Hoppin’ Bulldog Shuffle Do I walk? HECK YES. I walk, I wobble, and I can move faster than Santa’s elves when the cookies come out. I do have hip dysplasia—like most English Bulldogs—but mine is extra spicy. My hip sockets didn’t form right, so I strut around with my signature holiday wobble. Phantom of the Opera? No. Leroy of the Wiggle-Opera. Freedom did NEW x-rays and guess what? I still need PT in my future, plus good supplements and a healthy weight. (They DID have to put a few pounds on me… I was skinny like a candy cane.) But I’m doing amazing with the right meds and love. My Personality: A Bulldog Wrapped in Holiday Spirit Listen… I’m a bulldog. Which means I come with a whole personality package. I’m demanding — that’s my #1 talent. I’m opinionated about pretty much everything, dramatic when I don’t get my way, and honestly? I’m absolutely hilarious. But once I decide you’re my person, I’m loyal in a way only a bulldog can be.” I used to be super sketchy about being touched. I did try to bite in the beginning (just calling it like it is), and sometimes when you pick me up I’ll grumble like the Grinch waking up from a nap—but I’ve NEVER gotten anyone. It’s fear, not fury. Now? I come over and lay my big ol’ head in your lap. If you’re lucky I roll on my back for belly rubs. And if you scratch the side of my neck? I SWOON. I bend like a candy cane so you can get the whole thing. That’s premium bulldog service. I’m potty trained, I eat like a champion, and since my neuter I’ve stopped trying to “decorate” every object in the house with my leg lifts. Zero poop accidents. Gold star for me. I can be around other dogs—as long as they pretend I don’t exist. (Honestly same, buddy.) In the future, I could totally have a friend after the holidays… with time and trust. My Perfect Holiday Home I’m searching for someone who loves sweet-but-spicy bulldogs, keeps snacks on hand at all times, and understands slow trust-building with big-hearted patience. I’m all about scratches—just not on my hips for now—and I promise to bring goofy charm and wobbly joy into your world. If you want a loyal Christmas sidekick who’s been tough some stuff but is finally learning how to be happy, I’m your guy. All I Want for Christmas… Is YOU I’m Leroy Wrigley—two years old, a fighter, a lover, a wiggle-walker, and a redeemed freeway elf. I’m finally ready to spend Christmas warm, safe, and adored… maybe under your tree, maybe on your couch, but definitely in your heart. Love Wriggs! PS I am vaccinated, microchipped and neutered, currently I am being fostered in Mesa, AZ. My adoption donation fee is $1050.00 and you can check out how to adopt me at freedomfrenchierescue.org and apply for there too!

Story
Meet Casper — the handsome goofball with a heart as big as his smile. His journey to happiness hasn’t exactly been a walk in the park. He first found himself in isolation at the Humane Society, battling pneumonia. Once in our care, we learned he also had Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome, which made every breath a struggle and left him vulnerable to aspiration pneumonia. But Casper? He’s no quitter. After a successful airway surgery, he’s breathing easy and finally able to live life like every dog should—full of tail wags, zoomies, and sunshine naps. Of course, healing isn’t just about the body—it’s about the heart, too. Casper is currently enrolled in a Board & Train program with our friends at Paddock Paws, learning to build trust, confidence, and calm. Early in training, we discovered Casper is hard of hearing, which explained so much about his past anxieties. With hand signals, a dash of patience, and a whole lot of love, Casper has been absolutely thriving. This boy is a social butterfly when it comes to other dogs—he lights up around his canine pals and will happily join in playtime shenanigans. He’s equal parts goofy entertainer and cuddle connoisseur: one minute making you laugh with his silly antics, the next melting into your lap for snuggles. Casper is ready for a forever family who will embrace him for exactly who he is—unique, resilient, and overflowing with love. If that sounds like you, apply today at skysanctuaryrescue.org/adopt. We can’t wait for you to meet this special boy.

Link to Betty's Video! https://youtu.be/lOKEdixfltA In need of a 50 lb ball of furry sunshine to brighten your days? Betty White is your girl! This lovely lady enjoys spending her days sunbathing, receiving belly rubs, and playing with her foster siblings. She plays fair and would prefer an environment of animals her size that are just as friendly as she. Small dogs and cats might not be able to handle all her beauty and fun, so it’s best her future owners have friends her size. In a safe and loving home, this sweet girl will fill your days with laughter and fun-loving splendor. Betty White is ready for her new home as she is housebroken, and thrilled to learn new skills with her new family.  In the times where she’s had her fill of playing outdoors, this big baby would love to rest right by your side ready for tummy rubs or treats (which she takes so gently)! Once properly introduced to her new family, Betty White you’ll keep wondering how such an amazing spirit joined your family.   Once properly introduced, she does GREAT with another playful dog (see her video of playing in the yard!  https://youtu.be/lOKEdixfltA ). She is not good with cats or smaller dogs but would do great with submissive dog or as an only dog.  How can you not fall in love with that grin? *Special needs/ongoing medical care: Betty tested for low levels of valley fever, she is on daily medication (Fluconozole) for this and is due for retesting soon to see if she can be taken off the medication. Timber is super friendly and falls in love with everyone he meets! This big love-bug is already housebroken AND doggy-door trained! (He is not yet crate trained, as the foster has not attempted to do kennel-training, so his potential adopter will need to be willing to do, if crate training is desired) Timber is a higher-energy boy, so he will do best in an Active home. He's got a great disposition, is very affectionate and is even-tempered. He's great with kids and is very gentle with them! And he's done great with dog intros thus far, but has not been introduced to any cats yet.  . He would LOVE another playful dog as a buddy! He is an awesome leash-walker and an awesome car rider.
