Story
Meet Wrigley- Heartbroken Return My Love Story Began on the Freeway Be mine? I’m Leroy Wrigley, two years old, a bulldog with a big heart, big feelings, and a love story that didn’t start out easy. I came from the 5 Freeway and the Orange County Shelter, where I was labeled “not adoptable” because no one could safely touch me. Not a single Cupid could get close. Freedom Frenchie Rescue stepped in anyway, sending a full rescue team to scoop my dramatic bulldog booty, get me safely to San Diego, and then all the way to Arizona, where my real transformation began. Learning to Trust (and Fall in Love) When I arrived at Mo’s house, I was finally given the time and space to decompress. I had my own cozy area, soft blankets, gentle voices, and regular meals. I learned what “potty outside” meant, started to feel safe, and slowly realized that humans weren’t as scary as I once believed. The “don’t touch me” Grinch in me softened, and little by little, love started to replace fear. I was adotped 2 weeks ago and now I am being returned.. I smell fear in people Its better to ignore me until you figure me out. Yea I know its the opposite but when you ignore me I want more love and I listen way better to get that! 333 rule needs to be applied with me I have to have time to decompress and transition. I do not live in this fast-paced world humans do. When I started at Mo’s she did 555. My Signature Wobble & Ongoing Care I have a very distinctive walk—one I proudly call my signature wobble. Like many English Bulldogs, I have hip dysplasia, but mine is a little extra spicy. My hip sockets didn’t form correctly, which gives me a hip-hoppin’, wiggly strut that turns heads wherever I go. Freedom Frenchie Rescue took new X-rays and confirmed that I’ll need physical therapy in my future, along with good supplements and maintaining a healthy weight. I came in underweight at first, but with the right meds, care, and love, I’m doing really well. A Bulldog Personality with a Soft Center Personality-wise, I am a bulldog through and through. I’m demanding, opinionated, dramatic when things don’t go my way, and honestly very funny. Once I decide you’re my person, my loyalty runs deep. In the beginning, I was very unsure about being touched and did try to bite—fear talking, not aggression. Sometimes when I’m picked up, I’ll still grumble like an old man being woken from a nap, but I have never actually hurt anyone. Now, I seek out affection, rest my big head in your lap, roll over for belly rubs, and absolutely melt when you scratch the side of my neck. House-Trained, Healed, and Still Growing I’m pretty much potty trained, eat like a champion, and since my neuter, I’ve stopped trying to decorate the house with leg lifts. I’m proud to report zero poop accidents. I can be around other dogs as long as they mostly ignore me, which suits me just fine. With time, trust, and patience, I could absolutely have a dog friend in the future. My Perfect Valentine Home I’m looking for someone who understands sweet-but-spicy bulldogs, keeps snacks nearby, and believes in slow trust-building with a big heart. I love scratches everywhere except my hips for now, and in return, I promise to bring goofy charm, wobbly joy, and unwavering loyalty into your life. All I’m Missing Is You I’m Leroy Wrigley—a fighter, a lover, a wiggle-walker, and a redeemed freeway boy. I’m finally ready to be warm, safe, and adored. Maybe on your couch, maybe by your side, but definitely in your heart. PS I am vaccinated, microchipped and neutered, currently I am being fostered in Mesa, AZ. My adoption donation fee is $1050.00 and you can check out how to adopt me at freedomfrenchierescue.org and apply for there too! *Please Note: All learning and guidance must continue in their new home. A dog’s behavior can change with a new environment and energy, and every family’s dynamic is different. What works or is allowed in one foster home may not be the same in yours, so consistency, patience, and continued training are key to their success.

Story
Agatha (aka Aggie, aka Dusty) Built Like a Meatball, Moves Like a Ferrari Hi, I'm Agatha I was found as a stray and FFR picked me up at AZ Humane. I'm a 3-year-old exotic bully lowrider, which basically means I'm built like a tiny tank and somehow still capable of reaching speeds that should probably require a permit. People keep calling me Darla 2.0, and honestly, I understand the comparison. We both have confidence, charm, and a strong belief that we deserve to be adored at all times. The difference is there can only be one Darla, and there can only be one Agatha. Trust me—we've discussed it. The Great Utah Competition I currently live with Darla, and we're actually pretty good friends. By "good friends," I mean we spend a large portion of every day competing for Utah's attention. If Utah sits down, we're both there. If Utah walks into a room, we're both there. If Utah so much as glances in our direction, we're suddenly convinced we haven't received affection in years. It's a very serious competition and we both take our responsibilities very seriously. Thankfully, Utah has enough love for everyone, even if Darla occasionally forgets that. Bedtime According to Agatha Every evening I have one simple and completely reasonable request: I get petted first. That's it. That's the rule. Once I receive the appropriate amount of attention, I happily settle down next to Harvey and Foster Dad and drift off to sleep. I'm not saying the bedtime routine revolves around me, but everyone seems much happier when it does. Food Is My Love Language I enjoy food in all forms, but Foster Dad's crockpot creations are on a completely different level. The second those smells start floating through the house, I become very interested in whatever is happening in the kitchen. Since coming into rescue, I've put on some healthy weight and I'm looking fantastic. My little lowrider body has filled out nicely, my coat looks great, and life is pretty sweet these days. Ball Is Life Do not let these short little legs fool you. The second the horse ball comes out, I transform into an athlete. I sprint around the yard with the rest of the pack like I've been preparing for the championship game my entire life. The ball doesn't even need to belong to me—I simply need to be involved in whatever excitement is taking place. The neighbors probably think we're hosting professional sporting events in the backyard. A Little Shy, A Lot Sweet When I meet new people or find myself somewhere unfamiliar, I can be a little shy at first. I like to take a minute, look around, and make sure everything feels safe before jumping right in. Once I settle in, though, I become part of the family very quickly. Foster Dad says I fit into the household like I'd always been there, and honestly, that's exactly how it feels. I love people, I love dogs, and I love being included in whatever is happening. Just a Tiny Tune-Up I do have a small mass on my ankle that will be removed, but it's simply a minor bump in the road. Other than that, I'm healthy, happy, and ready for whatever comes next. Rescue has helped me get back to feeling my best, and now I'm ready to find a family of my own. What I'm Looking For I'm looking for a family, some dog friends, a comfy couch, plenty of snacks, and humans who appreciate a girl with a big personality. If you're searching for a dog who is equal parts comedian, cuddle bug, athlete, best friend, and professional attention-seeker, I might be exactly who you're looking for. Just know that if you sit down, I fully intend to sit next to you. And if another dog gets there first... Well, let's just say I've had plenty of practice competing with Darla. Agatha is spay, vaccinated and microchipped and being fostered in Scottsdale, AZ. Her adoption donation fee is $1100.00 you can apply at freedomfrenchierescue.org

HI BESTIEEEE… I’M TOOTSIE (aka Gumdrop) The Vibe (aka… what it feels like to meet me) Okay so like… imagine sunshine + your wedding day + the best concert you’ve ever been to …and then multiply that by 1000. That’s me. I’m 4 years young (I think they made a mistake) and 22lb low-riding exotic bully with googly eyes that may or may not be looking directly at you… or your snacks… or your soul, but wherever I go, the energy shifts. Dogs play more. People smile more. Life just feels better. I’m basically the dorky cheerleader of the entire pack. My Personality (warning: extreme happiness ahead) I don’t just play… I COMMIT. Full body tackles (the loving kind), tug-of-war champion energy, and I will absolutely grab your pant leg to say HI OMG I MISSED YOU. I fumble, I tumble, I roll, I bounce… I’m pure chaos joy in the cutest little low-rider body. And one thing about us exotic bullies? We wake up happy, stay happy, and spread that energy everywhere. My Bestie (and dream scenario) My girl Blake is my ride or die. When she couldn’t play after surgery, I waited… and the SECOND she got cleared I ran after her like I was about to hug-tackle her into another dimension. If we got adopted together? ICONIC. If not, I’ll still thrive—but I do need a playful dog sibling. I’m not built for solo life. ME+FRIEND=LOVE. My Glow-Up (aka look at me NOW) When I came in, my ears were struggling but with meds (pills, ear drops, keep that in stock please) and medicated baths… they are glowing. My ear has opened up beautifully and once my dog glitter grows back, I’m 100% that girl. I eat like a queen—fish-based kibble, raw salmon on top, and probiotics because gut health equals hot girl energy. The Real Talk Section (because I keep it honest) I’m working on potty training every single day and getting better, but I still have accidents sometimes. I did spend a lot of my life kenneled, so I have little calluses on my legs and sometimes… I make questionable snack choices (hehe… turds), but with structure, supervision, and probiotics, I’m improving big time. I just need someone patient who understands where I came from. If you tell me know I look at you and decide but now I make the right decision. My Quirks (aka my extra sparkle) When I walk, my little feet drag, so if we’re out and about I might need some cute shoes or honestly… a wagon would be my dream life. All the fur on my head has grown back in and my glow-up has been next level. I LOVE feeding time, I LOVE dogs, and I LOVE life. My Dream Home I need a home with another playful dog because I thrive with a buddy. I want someone who embraces joy, laughter, and a little chaos, and who will keep helping me grow into the best version of myself. Final Thoughts (from me, your future favorite dog) I’m not just a dog… I’m the energy your house didn’t know it was missing. I’m the sage, the palo santo, the good vibes only. I walk in and everything just feels lighter. If you’re ready for nonstop joy, a built-in best friend, and a whole lot of fun… I’m your girl. Tootsie is vaccinated, microchipped, and spay her adoption donation fee is $1100.00. She is being fostered in Mesa, AZ and you can apply for her at freedomfrenchierescue.org

Story
Will is a 3-year-old American Bully with a story that speaks to both heartbreak and incredible resilience. He first came into our care during a truly unique moment—his unhoused mom was in the hospital giving birth around the same time our Director had just welcomed her own baby. When the hospital reached out asking if we could step in to care for Will temporarily, we were honored to help. After a few weeks, Will was reunited with his mom. But not long after, she reached back out, knowing something wasn’t right. Will wasn’t acting like himself and needed urgent medical attention. She trusted us to help him, and we’re so grateful she did. When Will returned to us, it was clear he was struggling. After rushing him in for care, we discovered he had been given amphetamines. From that moment on, Will’s healing journey began. While in our care, Will also underwent BOAS surgery to help him breathe more comfortably and improve his overall quality of life. After recovering, he began to decompress, finally settling into a safe environment where his personality could start to emerge. Today, Will is continuing his journey with our friends at Connected Canine, where he’s building confidence, learning basic obedience, and being thoughtfully exposed to new environments. He is sweet, loyal, and deeply connected to his people, and he thrives with structure and consistency. Will has been through more than most dogs ever should, but he continues to choose connection and trust. He’s ready for a home that will provide stability, patience, and the understanding he needs to keep growing into the dog he’s meant to be. If you think Will might be the right fit for your home, please submit an adoption application at skysanctuaryrescue.org/applications. Once received, we’d be happy to answer any questions and arrange a meet and greet with him.

Story
Paco — The Pirate With A Heart of Gold “Yeah… I’ve got one eye. And honestly? It kind of works for me.” Hi, I’m Paco. Some people call me Paco the Pirate, which feels pretty accurate considering I look like I should be sailing around stealing snacks instead of living in a house. I’m around 22 pounds of sleepy, chill Frenchie energy and I’ve been in foster care for over a month. 3 weeks in CA at a temp foster and then to AZ for the last few weeks. but honestly? I settled in pretty quickly. I’m the kind of guy who likes soft couches, naps, and keeping life low stress. “I’m More Couch Potato Than Chaos” If you’re looking for a wild, nonstop-energy dog… respectfully, that’s not me. I sleep a lot, I relax a lot, and when left alone I mostly just hang out and snooze. I’m very much in my “retired uncle with a recliner” era. I enjoy being around my people, but I’m not constantly demanding attention every second of the day. I also love snacks and Hulu, so honestly? Keep both of those coming my way and I’ll absolutely be your bestie. “We’re Working On The Whole Potty Training Situation” I’m somewhat house trained and making progress every day. I’ve had some accidents, but we’re working on improvement and routine helps me a lot. I’m also not fully crate trained yet. I’ll definitely give a little speech about my feelings when I first go in the crate, but after a bit of complaining, I usually settle down just fine. I do like tho chat you know the Frenchie chatter.. that’s me! At night? The living room couch is my preferred sleeping arrangement. As it should be. “About My Eye…” One thing you’ll notice about me right away is my eye. I have glaucoma, which has caused me to have limited vision. In the long run, there’s a chance I may eventually need to have my other eye removed, but right now it is not medically affecting me and I’m not in pain. Because of that, we are not removing it at this time. I am also still adjusting to my vision changes. I’m getting used to only having one eye and not seeing very well out of the other one, so I really need time to transition and feel safe. Because of that, I do not like dogs getting directly in my face. I’m not a fighter at all, but I will absolutely stand up for myself if I feel uncomfortable or cornered. A slow transition into a new home is going to be incredibly important for my success. Please keep that in mind. Don’t just throw me into your pack like I’ve lived there my whole life. I need patience, structure, and time to settle in and learn that I’m safe. The important thing to know is that I navigate life really well. Dogs are incredibly adaptable, and honestly? I don’t let it slow me down much at all. I still enjoy life, I still enjoy people, and I still know exactly where snacks are located at all times. “My Rescue Story” I came from the San Diego Humane Society, and my rescue pulled me knowing I needed a soft place to land. Before coming to Arizona, I stayed with a temporary foster in San Diego for a few weeks while recovering from my eye removal surgery. And man… let me tell you… after surgery my eye swelled up to the size of a baseball. But my foster never gave up on me. She stayed on top of my medications, did ice packs with me, encouraged me every single day, and kept me going while I healed. She was pure motivation for me during recovery, and because of that, I kept pushing forward. “My Perfect Home” I’d love a home that understands I’m a lower-key kind of guy. A family that appreciates a chill companion, doesn’t expect perfection overnight, and is willing to continue helping me with routine, patience, and confidence-building would be ideal for me. Mostly though? I just want somewhere safe to land. A couch. A soft blanket. Somebody who loves me exactly the way I am. And maybe a few snacks too. Paco is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, he is currently being fostered in Tempe AZ. You can apply for Paco at freedomfrenchierescue.org and his adoption donation fee is $1100.00.
