Hello! My name is Beans! I was found in a backyard in Tacoma in June of 2023 and was skinny, terrified, and dirty but was able to get back on my feet with the help of my rescue families. Despite the hardship that I have been through, I am playful and have so much love to give. Some of my favorite things are snuggling and playing ball. I do have a tendency to snore a lot and can be clingy in bed but I hope you won’t mind. I love getting my belly rubbed and will gladly shake my leg around when you get the right spot. Although I am incredibly friendly, I have some separation anxiety and resource control behaviors that make it difficult for me to be around other pets. If you are looking for a companion who will love you, play with you, and lay on your lap, then I am your gal. I just ask that you allow me to be the only dog in the home so I can show you how good I can be without distractions. I know it will take some work but I promise I will work my hardest if you promise to help me.

Please go to our website for all specific information about this dog.  Our info doesn't transfer over to the adoption sites.  There is information you need to know about this dog before applying for adoption so please read his entire profile on our website www.collarofhope.org  BENTLY WOULD DO BEST AS AN ONLY PET.  HE NEEDS A SPECIAL DIET.   Bently came from a local shelter but we did get a lot of info on his past.  He was with his Mom but she passed away.  During that time, he did escape once and a dark-skinned man beat him unmercifully, even dislocating his shoulder, so understandably, he doesn't do well with darker skinned people now.  After his Mom passed, family took him in.  Observing some things at the shelter, they contacted the family with questions and they admitted that they and the kids teased him horribly with toys and food as well as hit him.  He was super hand shy when we got him and would cower when you went to pet and love on him.  He soon realized that it was nothing but kindness for him now.  Eventually, we saw his resource guarding from being teased and tormented when he tried to take a young dogs treat (the pup was crated with food, a bully stick and toys).  This can take some concerted effort to turn around in the right hands. Without these things around, he's a very friendly and loving boy even playing well and hanging out with some of the other dogs we've had him with.  It's probably best if he's the only dog in the home so there is no chance for altercation over food, treats or toys.   He's only 2 years old and has had a pretty crappy life so it's our goal to insure he's placed in the right home, so he's well loved, taken care of and happy for the rest of his life!   He is also allergic to both chicken and beef as well as grains (which no dogs should be fed).  It's easy to find single protein foods for him.  He's currently doing well on the Natures Domain Turkey from Costco.   If you think you can give this gorgeous boy a wonderful life and home, please submit our adoption application to get the process started!      Prior to adoption, our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and parasite treated/prevented.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 18, 2024, 4:52 pm

Zeus is a 9 year old Bull Terrier. He's a super sweet guy, a big cuddler, and loves to spend time outside in the sun or on the couch with his people. He spent the first 5 years of his life with an open yard, and as a single dog in the family. As such, he was not socialized or even neutered until he was about 6. Zeus has made incredible strides in reactivity when other dogs are nearby, but he has a history of escalating situations with other dogs and being aggressive and intolerant. Zeus would fit very well with a home where he would be the only pet. The reason he needs to be rehomed is because he has found his way into my care, alongside my cat and another bull terrier puppy. The puppy is energetic and pushes the old man's limits. My partner and I have tried everything we can to curb the triggers for Zeus, but fights have started to break out more consistently even after 6 months of solid effort, and we are worried about the safety of the two dogs together if the situation continues.
