Story
***SPECIAL NEEDS - BLIND DOG*** Peter is a sweet boy who was saved from being euthanized in the Devore shelter in California. He was pacing his kennel due to anxiety, and wore down his quicks to the point they bled. He was picked up with protective wrapping on his feet to stop him from injuring himself further. Once we got Peter back to a safe place, he was SUCH a lover. He loves tennis balls, shredding his bed, loves to climb in your lap, and loves to feel safe. Peter would benefit from a quiet home with no kids. He loves other dogs and would likely do well with cats. He needs slow introductions due to his special needs, but once he warms up to other pets and their behavior around him, he will be their best friend!

Story
Animal Profile:  Penny is a 14-month-old, 65 lb spayed female English Bulldog mix. She has a tight, clean coat and an adorable underbite. She has guardian-breed tendencies and will need a breed-savvy owner able to provide appropriate leadership. She is loyal to her family and loves to snuggle. She enjoys playing with other dogs but requires a human who can supervise and advocate for appropriate interactions or she is prone to bullying behavior. She is currently being fostered in a home with two other dogs and is crate-trained, house-trained, and has basic obedience training. She will benefit from structure, leadership, and ongoing training. Once acclimated in a home environment, she loves to snuggle and play and has a goofy, loving personality.  Adopter Profile:  Single family residence required Secure fenced yard preferred Large breed experience required Bully breed experience preferred Other balanced dogs, dog-savvy cats, and older children considered on case by case basis Adoption Info: The adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, flea/tick treatment, deworming, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Animal History:  Penny and her siblings were a surprise litter - their mother was adopted from a local family when she was unknowingly pregnant, so he got much more than he bargained for when she had puppies soon after her adoption. Penny was born on 12/09/22; one of the littermates was  DNA tested and so presumably all littermates are  75% English Bulldog, 12.5% German Shepherd, 12.5% Rhodesian Ridgeback. As puppies, these dogs were playful and engaging. Penny was adopted as a puppy to a family who was not prepared for the tendencies of this breed combination. Without any formal training, she developed territorial behaviors in the home and on walks that ultimately led the family to return her to the rescue. She has since been evaluated and fostered in a DGS foster home. She is currently available for adoption to the greater Seattle area.  March 5, 2024, 2:36 am

FOSTER OR FOSTER TO ADOPT: Meet Twix! He is an adorable 12-week-old Bulldog mix. He is sweet and playful and your typical puppy! Since he is still a puppy, he will need a forever home that has an area to frequently take him out for potty breaks and will be committed to obedience training and everything that a puppy needs. He loves other dogs and would love to be in a home with another dog to help show him the ropes as he grows up, or a home that has other dogs in their friend/family circle for him to socialize with. Twix is up to date on his vaccinations and will be neutered and microchipped prior to his adoption. His adoption fee is $550.

Story
Meet Bernie! He is a 8-year-old, 46 lb English Bulldog who is looking for his perfect forever home. He is currently living in a foster home, and this is what his foster has to say about him… Bernie is an excellent companion. He has a calm, sweet demeanor and loves pets and affection. He moves slowly and has some arthritic legs and/or hips and will need to be in a single story home without steps. He loves to go outside and to explore the perimeter of our yard or to get a drink of water. He has done well when crated but prefers to be lounging in a dog bed when we are around. He sleeps in the crate at night just fine and only barks when he needs to go outside. He gets along great with our other dogs (we feed them separately to avoid guarding or negative interactions) and is great with small kids (we have a 4- and 6-year-old). Bernie arrived in our care with an anal gland abscess which his foster has been caring for and is healing. He will need a bulldog experienced home that can care for his ears and eyes and continue with the care for his anal gland abscess. Cleaning his face, folds, eyes, ears and anal glands are paramount to his health. Bernie is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. HIs fee is $200

Story
To apply for a specific dog with Bulldog Haven NW rescue or submit a general application, please visit http://www.bulldoghavennw.org/10_apply.html My name is Monse (pronounced mon-say) and I am an almost 4 year old English Bulldog! I am curious, playful, energetic, and looking for a home that will take me on adventures and play with me. I still have a bit of that puppy energy, but I'm also content to take a nap or chill on the couch with you. My foster mom says I'm a sweet and happy girl! Oh, and this is super cool - I'm bilingual and understand both English and Español. We can work on our language skills together! I love going on walks and do well on leash, and stairs are no problem - I go right up and down with ease. A fenced yard would be nice, but it's not absolutely necessary as long as you're willing to take me out for walks a couple times a day. I also like car rides, stuffed toys, and chew bones and am fully house trained. As far as roommates go, my foster mom thinks I may be happiest as the only dog in the house, or that I might do okay with a fur brother if he lets me be the boss. I do seem to be fine with other dogs while out on walks. I am a friendly and happy girl and can't wait to find my forever home!

Story
To apply for a specific dog with Bulldog Haven NW rescue or submit a general application, please visit http://www.bulldoghavennw.org/10_apply.html Fezzik is still very much a puppy. He is a fast learner and loves to chase a tennis ball. New things scare him, but after a few exposures and confidence from you, he adjusts. He's very interested in kids but will need very slow introductions. He needs a person that will commit to giving him all the love and attention he deserves.

Story
Meet Benjamin!  He is a 4-5yr old neutered male who came to us from a Washington shelter.  Benjamin experienced neglect in his life but has flourished in his foster home.  He has lived with other dogs and has done well with a cat in the home.  He let us know that he would be totally fine living as an only dog...or with other laid back dogs (bossy Pei females are not his thing).   He follows his foster mom around everywhere and is very sweet & snuggly.  Most of his fur has grown back in due to his new & improved diet.  He has had entropion surgery and cherry eye surgery and is now ready for his forever home.  Benny loves that his foster mom works from home. He can be vocal when initially left alone but does settle down. Benjamin is UTD on vaccines, weighs approximately 55lbs and is fostering in Oregon City, OR. Story
Koa's foster parent thinks she's awesome! She's so smart and knows sit, stay, shake, lay down and rollover. This velvety black coated pooch is also a very good walker, fully potty trained, and even wears grippy socks in the apartment without a fuss. Her temperament is amazing - she's just as happy lounging on the couch as she is taking long walks or being out and about. With tons of energy despite her age she'll often ask for a round of tug or hide and seek. Koa is so good with people, she's become quite the celebrity in our building, and we get so many compliments on how pretty she is. She, of course, happily soaks up all the attention and pets from everyone.Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal.
