Story
Nala was an owner surrender to a shelter in south Texas, so not much is known about her past. She was picked up by an independent rescuer, and Second Start Rescue agreed to take her in. I have been fostering Nala in Magnolia, TX for about a week now. Nala is a timid young pup. She is scared of many things, including loud noises and fast movements. Despite her fear, she has remained the sweetest thing. Her favorite thing to do is snuggle when we are sitting or laying on the couch. She will lay with anyone on the couch for hours. Nala is house trained and crate trained. She even prefers to eat her meals in her crate. Nala has been around children, cats, chickens, as well as other dogs, and has done well with all of them. Nala will do best in a quiet home with patient people and patient pets. She needs people who will love her and show her that the world isn't so scary. She will benefit from a home with another independent dog that can show her the ropes. However, another dog is not necessary - she would do fine being the only pet where she can have all the attention from her people. Nala would do best in a home with older children due to her shyness around noises and quick movements.

Story
https://foha.org/pet/nelson2021/ Nelson here! My new adoptive family will need to be ready to provide a lot of training which my friends at FOHA will help to coordinate at time of adoption. I can be unpredictable so I am looking for a family with no kids 15 and under. Look deep into my different colored eyes - then get me a ball! I LOVE to play fetch! The second I see a ball or hear you say the word, I'm ready to play. I know how to fetch and I'll bring the ball right back to you and drop it at your feet. I also love water and getting sprayed with a hose! I've been lucky to join doggy social here at FOHA and I have enjoyed playing with other dogs. I love going for walks as I get to know the volunteers and they get to know me. As much as I like new dogs I am not comfortable around a lot of new people. So I would not do well in a dog park or doggie daycare. I'll go ahead and say it, I'm extremely smart. I'm looking for an active family that will put my intelligence to good use. I would love to have a huge fenced in backyard to chase my ball until my heart is content. Apartments and condos will not be a good fit for me. If you would like to come meet me, submit an application and we can set up a time to get to know each other. See you soon!! I am looking for a home with no kids, no cats, house with a large backyard, and an experienced owner willing to work on training. Check out all of the dogs available at Friends of Homeless Animals! https://foha.org/pet-adoption/find-a-dog/

Story
https://foha.org/pet/pelican2022/ Hey there, I'm Pelican, and while I may be a dog, my dreams take flight! I'm a spirited and cheerful fellow, always ready for some fun and games. Among all the activities, soccer is my absolute favorite, and I can't resist a thrilling match with my volunteer friends at FOHA. I've had a taste of home life before, where I shared the space with another dog. Things started off well, but I quickly realized that I might be at my best as the only four-legged companion in the house. If you're looking for an only-dog scenario, count me in! I'm a people-loving pup and have the boundless energy that's typical of a border collie mix. Bonus: I'm super soft to the touch, making cuddle time even better. If you're considering bringing me into your life, I have a special request. I'd thrive in a home with a very experienced owner who's up for working with me on a few behavioral challenges. I'd also do best in a home without children. I'm eager to shower you with love and am more than willing to learn and grow. So, what do you say? Will you be the one to come and meet me and embark on this incredible journey together? I'm waiting to spread my wings and soar with you!

APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application-pet-central-satx/ We must have an application to move forward. (Shayne's Rescue is an affiliate with PetCentralSATX). If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. JASMINE (female) came from a litter of 7 -- 5 girls; 2 boys. Mama is a white shepherd-type dog about 40#. Daddy was probably the local Casanova, maybe a Border Collie mix. These pups were born on the first night we had freezing weather and 2 courageous ladies went out in the cold and caught the stray mama and her 7 puppies and brought them to our rescue. DOB 1/17/26. JASMINE is playful and very happy. She has a beautiful golden color with some white and a tail that curls over her back. She currently is 25# and will probably be about 40-45# when grown. She is spayed, all 4 DAPP vaccinations including Leptospirosis, Rabies, and Bordetella. She will be a great family dog. She loves other dogs of all ages and size. She also leaves my cats alone. Like most puppies, she does bark … not good for an apartment. She is used to be in a kennel as well as being in the puppy pen outside. This is a great deal!!! Get in on the ground floor and adopt now so that the family can bond and have fun for the summer! Story
Meet MJ (“Max”)! Max is a handsome 1-year-old Border Collie mix with brains, energy, and a whole lot of love to give! This smart boy is neutered, crate trained, house trained, and eager to learn. He already knows sit, lay down, wait, and stay, and he’s currently mastering spin and place. Max absolutely loves people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He’s happiest when he has room to run, play, and frolic in the yard—sometimes with a few excited barks to let everyone know he’s having the best day ever! Because of his herding breed mix and active nature, Max would thrive with an active family and a securely fenced yard where he can safely burn off energy and enjoy outdoor adventures. While Max adores dogs and humans alike, a home without cats is best for him. This young boy is looking for a family that will continue his training, keep his mind busy, and give him the love and exercise he craves. In return, Max will reward you with loyalty, fun, and endless affection. Could Max be the perfect addition to your family?
