Luna Lou is a smart and loyal dog. She definitely fits many Basenji and Ibizan hound characteristics - our guess is she is a mix - larger than a pure bred of either breed. AKC lists some of the top Basenji character traits as: independent, smart, and poised. This is Luna! We think she likes having an activity or job to do like most Ibizan hounds. She LOVES catch, frisbee, or "nose work" games to find her favorite stuffed monkey toy. She would make a wonderful companion for an individual or or couple who wants a dog who likes to go on walks or hikes, plays frisbee, and takes well to training. She is looking to please and will be on the alert for your next signal to tell her what you would like her to do. She would like a quiet home life and while she can be very well-behaved around children, she prefers calm, composed adults who do not socialize with big groups of people. Luna is about 63 pounds. She is healthy and enjoys sunny and rainy weather. Our group is looking for a foster home for Luna as we look for her forever home. Please contact us about fostering or adopting.

Say hi to Mamba! Mamba is a sweet, funny, intelligent, and energetic 11-month old Mexican Street Dog who was rescued along with her siblings as a stray puppy from the desert of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She has since been cared for and rehabilitated by her rescuer who committed to preparing her for a loving and supportive forever home. Although cautious at first, Mamba loves playing with other dogs. She also loves being around people, and craves pets and gentle belly rubs. She is completely housebroken, and knows over 20 commands for which continued training and reinforcement would be beneficial. She travels well -- and boy has she travelled. She behaves well on long car rides as well as on airplane rides.  She would be suitable for an active family with older children, and is a great companion for hikes and other outdoor activities. Mamba is now looking for a loving, stable, permanent home that is active and engaging. She weighs 35lbs, is up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has been spayed. Meet sweet Summer, a young Formosan Mountain Dog   Summer is a very energetic and athletic Formosan Mountain Dog. He would be very suitable for a family that likes to go on many outdoor adventures. He is very friendly and sweet, and he loves to socialize. Summer is not nervous around strangers at all, and loves to say hi to everyone. He gets along well with kids, cats, and other small animals, he has an incredibly positive outlook on life! Summer likes car rides; he will quietly enjoy the view from the car window. He loves playing chase with other dogs at the dog park. He is not above playing in the mud and getting dirty, and he is very calm while being groomed. He is well behaved during ear cleaning and nail trimming. Summer is very obedient and loyal. His adoptive family would benefit from teaching him commands or enrolling him in obedience training, which will promote calmness and help manage his energy. Like many FMD , they need exercise regularly , The foster had done so by walking him daily for at least 30 min or play iin group.  With this routine, Summer never misbehaves in his foster home (such as chewing on things he shouldn’t or barking excessively). He is a simple boy who loves to play and go for walks! Summer is 17-18kg and he is fully grown, he is an FMD and beagle mix. Summer is a curious, adventurous sweetheart. He loves people and would fit in great with a family that loves to participate in social gatherings. Meet Maya! This cutie is a 1 year old Basenji / Pittie mix. She's a medium sized pup and weighs 42 lbs, making her a great compact girl with a big dog personality. She has a medium/high energy level and loves to play and go out on walks. She's a great hiking buddy and loves to spend time outdoors, and she's ultra playful! She also gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes, and she's got a very mellow personality. Her tail is always wagging, and she always has a bright and happy expression on her face. She's ready to meet you!! If you are not located near our rescue or if the drive is a problem for you, please still apply, as we bring animals out to as far as San Diego in order to bring them to their forever homes.
