He came from a shelter they believed had been hit by a car he had a broken pelvis and injured leg, but we are fairly sure he was beaten. He was terrified of anything like a broom and pees and poops himself. He's getting better every day. He needs a quiet home, cats are okay, but no male dogs. He can be a sweet boy but wants to trust but we can see it in his eyes as he sizes up every situation. He loves playing with the female dogs in his foster home and can spend hours outside just running and playing. He weighs about 9 pounds, is microchipped and has been fully vaccinated. Neuter to be announced still recovering from a broken pelvis and injured leg. Please consider adopting a senior dog. They are passed over routinely in shelters and Chihuahua senior dogs who are black are then the number 2 breed most euthanized in shelters. Adopt don't shop! ##1371753##

Since they were still young and the shelter had outbreaks of infectious diseases, both were rescued before spending their entire puppyhood there. 3⃣ Basic Information * With People: Is a bit shy and may bark when approached by unfamiliar people but becomes quiet quickly if redirected. With familiar people, he follows them around, wags his tail, and sits leaning against them. Has become very accustomed to touch and will roll over to show his belly when approached or petted. * With Dogs: Tends to be wary of unfamiliar dogs, but doesn’t run away. If many unfamiliar dogs surround him at once, he hides in the corner or behind his foster parent. Loves playing with familiar dogs and initiates play!. Seems to be becoming more and more dependant on his foster sibling. * With Cats: Shows little interest when encountering cats. * Separation Anxiety: Is fine spending time alone, and also plays well when left with a dog companion. When left with a stranger, he is a bit shy at first, but relaxes if given treats. * Potty Training: Mostly does his business outdoors, so he tends to express his needs by tapping his feet in front of the door to go out to the yard when he wants to potty. * Hygiene: Dislikes baths and hides in his kennel. If you forcefully try to take him out, he screams and resists. Stays still once he’s actually being bathed, but may bite when you try to catch him. Therefore, caution is needed. Shows his dislike of nail trimming by screaming. Runs away from the dryer or brush but stays docile once grooming actually starts. * Walks: Has improved significantly with leash pulling since beginning solo walks. Used to stop when seeing cars or motorcycles, but has gained confidence and even runs during walks. Still finds busy streets overwhelming, so desensitization training is ongoing. Sometimes tries to chew his leash or collar, which he’s also undergoing desensitization training for. Tries to chew on the leash when it’s being put on, but once the walk starts, he really enjoys it. * Car Sickness: Gets anxious in the car but becomes calm if his guardian holds him. * Biting: Most of the time, he just squeals when someone tries to grab him. However, when he’s really uncomfortable, he may try to mouth or nip. Caution is needed. * Barking: Whines and squeals out of fear if a bigger dog tries to play with him. * Likes: Likes eating treats and chewing toys. * Dislikes: Is scared of other dog friends even when lightly touched by them for play. Winces out of fear if someone suddenly stands up. Reacts fearfully to sudden and loud noises. * Tricks: Has mastered 'sit,' 'lie down,' 'wait,' and 'turn.' Is well kennel-trained so he goes into his crate to rest when he wants to be alone.
