Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please be sure to read Mae's bio before applying for her.Mae's life began in an unsupportive and neglectful home.  She was confiscated from her original home and brought into a county shelter.  One animal on the property had been tethered and found starved to death, and Mae was one of several other dogs that were impounded.  She was so emaciated that she wasn't far from death herself.  Mae has learned many new things in a loving and supportive foster home, and her foster family has learned a lot about her- and where she would be most comfortable.    Mae would do best in a home with another dog, she loves to wrestle and play.  Another dog her size or larger would do best, since she can be an exuberant play companion.  She completely ignores cats, so having kitties in the home would be ok too.  She definitely requires a secured fenced in yard (no underground fences please) and a home that has the capability to utilize gates to keep her safe until she has had the chance to become acclimated to her new environment.  She can be a bit nervous with new people, but she warms up fast.  She would do best in a home where all children are 12 and over, since she has had limited exposure to children.  Mae still carries memories of her past, and the one detail she is sure of is that her previous tormentor was a bald man- she is terrified of bald men,  men with hair do not seem to be an issue.  She requires an experienced family that will give her the time she needs to get comfortable and blossom into an excellent companion.    Mae is leash trained, house trained (though rainy days can be challenging), crate trained, and she rides well in a car.  She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 28, 2023, 9:15 am

Story
Sweet beagle girl, Daisy, is a gentle soul looking for someone to spoil her with lazy walks and a world full of fun smells to keep that hound nose sniffing. She has a very affectionate and gentle personality and is good with all types of people and pups. Daisy walks well on a leash during leisurely walks, but also enjoys roaming around a fenced in yard. Her favorite thing to do when outside and off-leash is to roll around on her back in the grass, sunning her belly and wiggling her tail around. As with any good beagle, Daisy is very food motivated and enjoys mealtime immensely. Daisy enjoys naps during the day and has the most adorable little snores. She mostly sleeps through the night but may stir to go to the bathroom early in the morning if she doesn't get out before bedtime. She is potty trained to go outside, but may need to get used to a new place and schedule in the beginning. She is a middle aged dog, maybe between 6-8 years old so her delightful personality is here to stay. Her background is a bit of a mystery. She was found in the country, roaming around on her own. She was likely dumped after having many litters of puppies, or maybe because of the lipoma on her abdomen (a fatty non-cancerous lump). The vet said she is healthy, that the lump isn't causing her any pain, and that besides needing a good teeth cleaning, she would be ready for a loving home. Her foster family have taken care of her vaccinations and have started training with basic commands. Daisy would do well in a home with another calm and gentle pup, or as an only dog. She will adapt to any working situation, whether work from home or not. She has not barked or howled since being in her foster home so she would be fine in a house or apartment. Daisy's adorable face will melt your heart and she is ready to fall in love with her new humans. Daisy's adoption fee is $75. Please call (717) 725-5259 or email knkessler@gmail.com if interested in meeting little miss Daisy. ***This is a courtesy posting, this dog is not part of Hope Animal Rescue. Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Lucas was rescued from the Humane Society. He is most likely 2 or younger with a clean bill of health. Unfortunately, Lucas is very high energy. It still takes a lot of exercise to wear him down and living in an apartment is not for him. His ideal home would have two owners who enjoy play, a large, fenced in yard and another dog of similar size and energy level to play with. Due to his energy levels and struggles with boundaries, he might not do well around small children. He seems to be OK around cats. When he's relaxing at night, he can be very cuddly and sweet. He enjoys puzzle toys but mostly loves to chew on soft things. His favorite toys squeak and he loves to play fetch with a ball (primarily of the squeaky variety), keep away and he recently learned tug-of-war. He loves to rough house, but can play a bit too hard when tired. He is quickly picking up on his training commands. Me fee includes a crate, toys, food and bedding.

Story
This is Penny! Penny is the SWEETEST girl. She is a 7-year-old hound mix who loves belly rubs (she will let you rub her belly for hours), playing with her toys, and going on walks. She is a professional burrower who can get herself under a blanket in 2 seconds flat, and she loves snuggling in her beds. I got Penny from a family member who could no longer take care of her. She was adopted from a shelter at around a year old and lived 6 years as an "only child." I cared for Penny for about 6 months but she did not do well with our other dog -- Penny needs to be in a home with no other dogs and no small children. She will do very well in a home where she gets lots of love and attention.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below.      Evie is a sweet 2yo beagle mix who weighs around 18 lbs.  She is very friendly toward people and other dogs.  She could live with other dogs or be an only dog especially if her people were not gone for long periods.    She has been around cats and as long as the cat is dog friendly, she should be fine.  She does like to chase indoor cats when they run just for fun and play.   Evie is respectful/not interested in cats when they are still, she may do a quick sniff and responds to verbal cues from people if she is bothering the cat.      &#226&#128&#139Evie is gentle and submission, so she should be fine with children.  She is generally very quiet except when she first goes into her crate or left alone.  That should improve as she gets more comfortable in her foster home.  She might be too vocal for apartment living.    Evie is almost 100% housebroken.  Be sure to look for her cues to go outside though. She has moderate energy with a few bouts of puppy energy.  She loves to play tug or fetch.    If she doesn't have a fenced yard, daily walks will be sufficient.  She really loves her walks. She almost prances....she is so happy!  She is adjusting to being crated and has been crated during the day for up to 6 hours.    Evie loves to snuggle with her people, play fetch, go for walks, wrestle with other dogs and explore her surroundings.  After all, she is a beagle:-)  She also does well on car rides.     Evie spent several weeks in a shelter before being rescued.  So when she goes to a new place, she is a velcro dog. Even day she grows more secure and needs less reassurance and potty training.    Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING EVIE?
