ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13681Name: GunnerEstimated DOB: 05/04/2024Current Weight: 6 lbsBreed: Basset Hound / English Cocker Spaniel MixEstimated Adult Weight: 45-55 lbs (approx.)About Gunner:Gunner is an adorable little bundle of joy from our Independence Pups litter. With his soulful eyes and floppy ears, this Basset Hound and English Cocker Spaniel mix is sure to steal your heart. At just 6 pounds now, he is expected to grow into a handsome and sturdy adult, weighing between 45 and 55 pounds.Personality:Gunner is a curious and playful pup, always ready for a new adventure. Whether he's chasing after a toy, exploring the backyard, or snuggling up for a nap, he does it all with a wagging tail and a happy spirit. He’s sociable and enjoys the company of people and other dogs alike.Training:Like all puppies, Gunner is at the perfect age to start training. He's eager to learn and please, making him an excellent candidate for obedience training and socialization. With positive reinforcement and a little patience, he’ll grow up to be a well-mannered and loyal companion.Ideal Home:Gunner would thrive in a home where he can get plenty of love, exercise, and attention. He would do well with an active family or individual who can provide him with the stimulation and care he needs. A yard to play in and perhaps a canine sibling would be a bonus!Health:Gunner is a healthy young pup and will come microchipped, and up-to-date on his vaccinations and deworming. Regular vet check-ups and a balanced diet will help him grow into a robust and healthy adult. Please note that Gunner is so young, he has only received 2 of the required 3 puppy distemper vaccines. This is very IMPORTANT because it means that the immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age. Until then, he MUST stay out of public places where it could be exposed to the germs of other dogs. These no puppy zones include all pet stores, dog parks, and for apartment dwellers, areas used by other dogs. These requirements are strictly for the puppy’s medical safety and longevity. If you're looking for a loving, energetic, and adorable new family member, Gunner might just be the perfect match for you. Apply today and see if he’s the furry friend you’ve been looking for! Please keep in mind that Gunner is searching for…- Someone who won't leave me home alone for more than 4 hours, at least not until I am older. The older I am, the more I can stay home alone. I just don't want you to get mad at me if I have accidents or chew things I'm not supposed to when you leave me for too long. I'm a puppy, so I get bored quickly and when I'm bored I could get in trouble.- I am looking for my forever home, not my for right now home. So as I get bigger I need someone to teach me how to be the best dog I can be. I am young and still learning. You may want to teach me some new tricks like sit, stay, etc. Professional training will help me bond with you. That sounds like fun!- I saved the most important for last. I am hoping my new mom or dad will snuggle with me, play with me and love me forever and ever!

Story
Poppy is a stunning, 8.5yr old beagle girl. This lovely senior is a total sweetheart, despite suffering years of abuse in an animal testing laboratory. Poppy is the perfect little companion for any individual or family! Poppy loves to go on walks, spend time around other dogs, and sniff around the yard (in true beagle fashion), but more than anything... Poppy loves to be near her people! She's great with kids, too! Poppy has received an A+ in couch snuggles. Poppy has been learning lots from her two foster siblings and, while she hasn't initiated play with them yet, they have given her a lot of confidence. She would love a home that could provide her with both exercise and lots of laid-back cuddle time together. Poppy is also cat approved! If you are interested in adopting Poppy, please fill out an adoption application at https://bfp.org/rescue/ and email us with questions: adopt@bfp.org. Location: Houston, TX
