Story
NAME: Hunter BREED: Bassett Hound Mix BIRTHDAY: 2019 WEIGHT: 50lbs ADOPTION FEE: $200 &#226&#128&#139 Poor Hunter has been through so much in his life, and we are so sorry that his journey to find a forever home is still ongoing. We thought we had the perfect family for him, but Hunter needs a cat-free home. After being saved with less than an hour to live in the shelter, we know that Hunter is happy to be in a real home and is doing his best, but we need to find the perfect fit for him- and we know it won't be easy. &#226&#128&#139 Hunter is slow to warm up but then he loves with all his heart, and it makes him protective of those he cares about. This means Hunter shouldn't be placed in a home with small children, and will need an experienced owner who knows to take things slow and be extra cautious. Other dogs seem to be a green light, as long as they are independent or are fine with Hunter having his own space when he needs it. &#226&#128&#139 If you've read this far, you may be wondering- why would someone pick Hunter, when there are many easier dogs waiting to be adopted? We know that Hunter won't be a good fit for everyone, but we know that he is a good boy who has many wonderful qualities. We know that every dog deserves a chance, and we know we won't give up on Hunter just because he's not as easy as the others. He is house trained, walks well on a leash, and is in general quiet and well-behaved. Under the right circumstances, he could definitely be an easy dog if given just a little time to settle in. Please consider Hunter, and share his story so we can send him home soon! March 28, 2025, 4:38 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- BUTCHIE IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION. PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.Paws Crossed Dog Rescue email: pawscrossedinfo@yahoo.com Paws Crossed Dog Rescue serves the Eastern Panhandle of WV and nearby areas.  Please read ADOPTION INFO on the left side of our website to learn about the adoption application process. Butchey is a 2 1/2 -year old, neutered male, weighing in at around 35 pounds.  He's a good boy that likes to be active. He was lacking in confidence and social skills.  He has been in training for several months now and has done a great job !  He has learned to politely play with other dogs and make friends with many humans .  Butchey walks well on a leash and does well out in public.   A dog savvy household will be best for him. Continued training would be a plus. He can be in a home with other dogs. However we believe Butchey would do best in a home with an older, mature, stable, female canine.  We want him to maintain his newly acquired skills. If allowed, he can become overly attached to his human.  Butchey's currently still in a boarding / training facility due to a lack of fosters in rescue.   He will require a physical fence.  This is not negotiable.  Please read Adoption Info on the left side of our website. Email inquiries can be made to PawsCrossedDogRescue@yahoo.com   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 26, 2025, 9:30 pm

Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose Nothin', don't mean nothin' hon' if it ain't free, no no And, feelin' good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues You know, feelin' good was good enough for me Good enough for me and I'm Bobbi Lou. That's the jam folks except freedom in the streets means an empty tummy and that wasn't my jam. MMMM Jam. I like Jam or I bet I would. I like food and it sounds yummy in my tummy. Foster mom keeps the kibble bowl full so I never have hungry belly anymore. I am a Basset/Beagle mix and 7 years old. I'm 28 pounds and probably won't get bigger give or take a few pounds now that I get food everyday. I've been learning so much in my foster home. I do my potty business outside 99% of the time. I seem to like smaller dogs and am unsure about the bigger dogs that live here. Cats also live here and I'm a little growlie when they get in my space but if they leave me alone I'll do the same. They taught me how to go into my crate and that's where I sleep. I would much prefer to stay with my human and I don't take up a bunch of space. I stay in the lap area so you can get maximum pets. Come get me please so I can measure the lap space and make sure I fit. (don't worry I'll fit) Local adoption fee $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Meet Russo! This sweet 3-year-old, 44-pound Retriever/Hound mix was recently rescued from the PG shelter and is now safe in a loving foster home. With his soulful eyes and gentle spirit, Russo is slowly but surely starting to settle in and decompress. He’s a unique blend of Labrador Retriever and Basset Hound, which means he’s got the heart of a loyal companion and the charm of a low-riding cutie. Right now, Russo is taking his time to feel safe, relax, and get used to his new surroundings. As he opens up, we’ll be learning all about his personality, likes, and favorite ways to spend the day. One thing's for sure—this boy is already stealing hearts with his quiet strength and soft gaze. Stay tuned for updates as Russo's foster family gets to know him better. We can’t wait to share more about this special pup! Shelter volunteers said this about him: " Meet Russo, the charming low-rider with the cutest combo of short Beagle legs and a long Labrador body! This sweet little guy is ready to trade in shelter life for a cozy home of his own. He’s eager to leash up and head out, always happy for a break from his kennel and even happier when he’s by your side. Russo walks nicely on leash, takes care of business quickly, and is longing for human companionship. He’s participated in playgroups but seems to prefer the company of people over large dog crowds—maybe he’s just more of a people pup at heart! If you have a resident dog, feel free to bring them by for a meet and greet to see if they click. Russo would thrive in a home where his people are around throughout the day—perfect for someone who works from home and wants a loyal, low-riding sidekick. Who’s a happy boy? Russo! Happy, tail wagging Russo loves to play outside, confidently setting a course for interesting smells and places. Low slung and steady, he was very easy to leash up and quietly went about his business while we toured the grounds. Reportedly Russo is a doggie playgroup rock star! A great advantage if your daily dog care includes neighborhood walks and occasional dog boarding or daycare. Russo has very soft fur and a tail like a flag (making him easy to spot in a crowd). Under 50lbs Russo can fit into just about any size family living situation." April 16, 2025, 10:42 am
