Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Denise (sharpeisnchihuahuas@msn.com) for more information about this pet.Irene was dumped at the gate of a high kill shelter in WV one weekend.  She is a sweet dog that deserves a family for the rest of her years. Poor Irene has been diagnosed with Cushing disease and will require cushings medication for the rest of her life. With her Cushing Irene pees alot very frequently. She needs someone that will take her out every couple hours to pee. She sometimes needs to pee in between so foster mom has xlarge size pee pads inside which  she will go on. Also the same with overnight. She can't hold it an entire night even though she is on meds. She is on 2 different kinds of meds and requires a test every couple months to make sure meds are regulated. She is so sweet and friendly. She walks perfectly on a leash. She likes to be petted and be with people. She is great with other dogs and pigs. ** LOCAL CENTRAL PA APPLICATIONS ONLY **Her adoption donation includes spaying, vaccinations, implanting of a microchip, application of flea meds and worming. Irene is in foster care so please complete an application at our website (www.castawaycritters.org) before meeting her. Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt; however, it is required. Applications are processed in the order received in an effort to find the best match possible for both the dog and the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 27, 2023, 1:42 pm

Story
When Irish eyes are smiling, does that mean they are happy? Or maybe they had too many pints at the pub? My eyes are smiling, and I am a non drinker, just want to have full disclosure here! Even though my eyes were smiling in these pictures. I was desperate for help for my little one, Lewis. You see, he was dying...full of internal and external parasites he really had no fight left in him and I knew it as his mother... so I used my Irish eyes to get us saved. AND IT WORKED!! Our lives are do amazing now, Lewis us alive and well after some very intense care, and ADOPTED INTO AN AMAZING HOME!!! I am not ever producing more babies, so it is all good! Now I get my turn for love, comfort and safety and a FOREVER HOME!! I am an adorable girl, about 45# of low-rider basset/heeler-ness. I am great with other dogs and like to play keep away! I am ready when you are, do your stuff so we can ride off into the sunset, in air conditioning, of course! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Ruby and I am a 9 year old sharpei/basset hound mix who was a local owner surrender.  My owner's mother became ill and she had to leave to take care of her, so that left left me looking for another home. I was rehomed once by my former mom and also taken to the shelter for them to help me find a home but both times I was returned because I can be picky and fearful. Then Tri-State took me in and now I live with a very special foster family. I have some medical issues where I have horrible reactions to vaccines, its a medical disorder that causes my jaw to lock shut. It was a very scary experience.   Other than that I am very healthy. I am able to be around other dogs if watched, but I would prefer to be an only dog.  I only get close to certain people, however they still need to be cautious around me - after all I am mixed with Sharpei.   Dogs like Ruby are hard to adopt out but we will continue to look for her perfect fit and take care of all that she needs until that person comes along. Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescued Basset Hound!  We ask all potential adopters to complete our application and approval process first so we can discuss the dogs that fit your home.  We usually have 25 - 35 dogs available and the ages range from less than year old to ten plus years old.  Once we receive your application you'll be contacted by an adoption representative to complete the application process.  We look forward to speaking with you about our wonderful hounds waiting for forever homes!!! Spayed or Neutered,
Story
We’ve had Elsie since she was a puppy. She is affectionate, is fully house-trained, and knows basic commands. She lives with a cat and is non-aggressive with other dogs. Unfortunately, she does not tolerate our three young children well, which has resulted in her needing to be separated from our kids for the majority of the day. This isn’t a good way for her to live, so we would like to find her a home without children where she can be more integrated into the daily life of the family.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Stop and smell the roses! Meet me, Rose! I'm a lovely and lively young lady who is ready to find her furever home! True to the beagle breed, I'm super vocal about who and what I'm interested in! I'm an excitable girl who is interested in a family that can help me learn some boundaries with spaces and people. I'd love a home where kids are over 3, just because I love to climb all over my people and I can get a a bit too excited, as well as mouthy, which I need help curbing. I am not fully housebroken so training is in order too. I promise I am well worth the effort because I have a big heart and years of companionship to share. I think I'd do well with other pets with a proper slow introduction. I am the prettiest rose in the shelter bouquet so come on over and meet me soon!---Our facility is open daily from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM, meet and greet appointments are highly recommended. If you are interested in meeting an animal please contact us via email at Lancaster@pspca.org to learn more about our adoption process and to set a meet and greet appointment.
