Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Banjo is a very affectionate boy and a really great cuddler! His foster mom often allows him to sleep in bed with her, but he likes the couch too. He's a fairly mellow fellow and does rest a lot. His foster mom thinks he’s aging backwards and he’s getting more brown in his face.  We are so happy to share that he does NOT have heart issues as we initially suspected! His heart is good and strong but he does have early stage kidney disease and is on a special diet. Banjo Is also currently dealing with some incontinence but is a good sport about wearing his diaper. He really enjoys his walks, typical beagle with nose to the ground smelling everything! Banjo can be excited when first meeting another dog and can also be selective about who he likes. We think he would do best as an only dog but he would probably love a cat as a buddy. He also prefers not to be left alone for very long.  Banjo is looking for someone with a heart for seniors. He could go on sleepover anytime! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 10:38 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bruce will let you sleep late!  He lets his foster mom stay in bed until 9 am on the weekends. When he finally wakes up, he wants ear scratches and belly rubs.  Overall his avtivity level is pretty moderate, but every now and then he has bursts of energy and gets the zoomies.  Bruce really loves being with other dogs and they help his confidence a lot. In his foster home he plays Security Chief, keeping tabs on what's going on outside. He is fluent with the doggie door and goes out to sniff around in the backyard. He is also good on a leash. Bruce came to us skinny and fearful and he can still be timid and sensitive to loud noises, fast movements, and new people. Patience and gentleness are the key to his trust. Once he feels safe and comfortable,  he'll follow you around the house and even snuggle with you. His foster mom has been crating him both at night and when she's away, and he's doing fine with that.  He doesn't always like going in the crate, but once he's in there, he settles down right away. Bruce tested positive for heartworms, but has gone through treatment and is doing well. He is housebroken and is anxiously awaiting a sleepover.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 31, 2026, 9:49 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Matty's personality is all beagle! He's a friendly boy who was dropped off at a Louisiana shelter as a stray and he is so happy to be in his foster home! Matty wants to hang out with his humans and be a part of whatever is going on. He loves to cuddle and will do anything for food, including stealing it when you aren’t looking. Housetraining is still a work in progress, but improving. He does well in a crate. Once his foster parents started feeding him in his crate and giving him treats there, he was eager to jump right in. He is mostly quiet, even in the crate. He doesn’t bark unless he's helping the other dogs defend the yard, but even then he is not the instigator. And Matty is good with other dogs, even if they bark and growl at him. He isn’t intimidated, he just keeps going. He loves stuffed toys but occasionally he will get hold of something that isn’t a toy. He is still learning that part of being in a house. If you want a true beagle, he is exactly what you're looking for. Matty is heartworm positive but scheduled for treatment in Louisiana mid-March. He is healthy and asymptomatic so we expect him to do well. His transport to Florida can be arranged when we have an available foster home or prospective adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 31, 2026, 9:49 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.COMING SOON!Waffles was abandoned by a Missouri rabbit hunter and has happily traded in his life of going after rabbits for instead being a beloved house pet. He is now in his 3rd week in a temporary foster home in MO and loving it! Although he seems quite content to enjoy the comforts of a home, Waffles cannot be a trusted with cats or even fluffy little dogs who look to him like rabbits. He is great with the other beagles, a shihtzu, chiweenie, havanese mix and pitty in his foster home, but the Maltese who is tiny, white and looks bunny-ish is a no go. She runs and he chases. Otherwise, Waffles is friendly and good natured. He is still young and energetic so will need a family who can provide him with physical excercise and mental stimulation appropriate for his age and breed. He will arrive in Florida mid April and is heartworm negative and will be fully vetted.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 31, 2026, 9:49 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ADOPTION PENDINGBaloney may be estimated at 2 years but he is full of puppy energy and wants to play, play, play! He's a good cuddler too. This precious little guy was dumped at a gas station but he's  safe with one of our wonderful fosters in Louisiana. Baloney appears to love all other dogs and people. He is cute as a button and so, so sweet. His housetraining is coming along but not quite there yet. His foster mom says he gets to playing and doesn’t realize he has to pee until it’s urgent. Baloney is learning to spend time in a crate as his foster mom does work outside the home. He is heartworm negative and he's ready to come to Florida as soon as we have an available foster home here. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cheesecake has been with the rescue since September 2024. She came to us from Louisiana where she had been living in the woods near a small town. She was known to the residents who would often leave her food, but they were aware that she kept having puppies and unfortunately the puppies would very often get killed by other animals or run over by cars. She was hard to catch but after many unsuccessful attempts they finally captured her and one of her puppies (Pop-Tart). When Cheesecake arrived in Florida she was a very frightened dog. Her rehabilitation began with her first foster family where she learned she could live comfortably and even discovered a loving relationship with the man...and then began to trust his wife too. In November 2025, a little over a year later, we decided to move her to another foster to help her broaden her acceptance of people and being loved. She of course regressed a bit, but is re-adapting much more quickly than she did at first - just what we had hoped for! Cheesecake is still very timid and fearful of new things, new people and new places, but she is VERY gentle and sweet. She can be really affectionate and loves belly rubs and petting. Her energy level is quite low and she spends most of the time in her 'safe place', the bed (also in her first foster home). It took a while in both homes for her to learn she could go out on her own safely and come back in safely, but she is basically house broken and will hold it rather than pee in the house. So a few times a day she will take a brief stroll and sniff around in her fenced yard. At first, Cheesecake didn't interact with other dogs much, yet she has been quite accepting of them being near. Eventually she became somewhat companionable with them, but it took time. However, she does not yet understand play. It is important to know that Cheesecake is still a flight risk. If frightened she could easily get out of a harness or possibly even slip a Martingale collar, and if she got loose in an unfamiliar place she would be very difficult to catch. Cheesecake needs a securely fenced yard and someone who can be very attentive to her security. For so long this lovely girl was barely staying alive and so all she thinks about is safety and survival. We believe Cheesecake is on the road to learning to enjoy life, and our hope if she can find a family who will continue that beautiful journey with her. Cheesecake has been successfully treated for heartworm and has completed all of her vetting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 14, 2026, 2:15 pm
