Story
Her name is Charisma. One of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet, but very hyper/anxious. She likes to cuddle in bed at night and hog a lot of the space. She needs a big yard for her to run around mindlessly and exert her energy. She is crate trained and potty trained but will have accidents on occasion in new areas/if not tended to quickly enough. She’s not much of a chewer, rarely chews on furniture or shoes or etc, but has happened before out of boredom. She’s a lot to deal with but she also gives intense amounts of love and affection.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Susanna is a happy, energetic girl who really makes a connection with her human. She looks her foster dad right in the eyes everytime she sees him. Susanna is great with all his other dogs. She will play with any and all, is submissive and avoids confrontation. We aren't sure about cats but don't really notice a prey drive with squirrels or rabbits. Susanna has only been in her foster home a week at this writing, but she is doing excellent with housetraining. Her foster dad allows her to sleep in the bed with him at night and she sleeps right by his head. He says she greets him softly every morning when they wake up. She does not like the crate at all when he is home, but when he goes to work she goes into her crate for treats and handles it well for up to 5 to 6 hours. Susanna loves playing with toys and is a heavy chewer. She enjoys a variety of Nylabones. She does not resource guard her toys and will even offer to include another dog in playing with the toy. She is VERY food motivated - not aggressive at all, just loves food ...a lot! So foster dad is helping her learn some manners. Susanna is affectionate and happy to cuddle up for naps or 'chill' time. At first she wanted only to be with her human all the time, but as she has settled in she has become comfortable spending more time outside with the other dogs when dad is home but inside. Susanna's best feature is not her leash walking and we really recommend a fenced yard for her. She has a lot of energy and will need a family who can provide outlets for that. Blessedly, Susanna is heartworm negative and is ready to go on sleepover.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 8, 2026, 10:44 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Matty's personality is all beagle! He's a friendly boy who was dropped off at a Louisiana shelter as a stray and he is so happy to be in his foster home! Matty wants to hang out with his humans and be a part of whatever is going on. He loves to cuddle and will do anything for food, including stealing it when you aren’t looking. Housetraining is improving. He does well in a crate. Once his foster parents started feeding him in his crate and giving him treats there, he was eager to jump right in. He is mostly quiet, even in the crate. He doesn’t bark unless he's helping the other dogs defend the yard, but even then he is not the instigator. And Matty is good with other dogs, even if they bark and growl at him. He isn’t intimidated, he just keeps going. He loves stuffed toys but occasionally he will get hold of something that isn’t a toy. He is still learning that part of being in a house. If you want a true beagle, he is exactly what you're looking for. Matty was treated for heartworm in March. He is healthy and asymptomatic so we expect him to do well. His transport to Florida can be arranged when we have an available foster home or prospective adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 8, 2026, 10:44 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Buster is an amazing senior beagle who acts much younger than his age. He is housebroken, shows no food aggression, and has not needed to be crated when left at home alone. He is also very quiet and has only been heard barking a couple of times. He would be fine with someone working outside the home full time. Buster could live with or without other dogs. While he doesn't actively play with other hounds in his foster home, he happily joins them at the fence line to greet neighbors. When Buster was fostered in Alabama we learned that he did well with cats and children -- he was with a 9-year-old and a 2-year-old who were good to respect his space. He loves walking and does not require a fenced yard as long as he gets several daily walks. He enjoys rolling in the grass, getting belly rubs, and playing a game of throwing his beef sticks in the air. He sleeps wherever he likes and loves to snuggle in. Buster is heartworm positive and should be ready for a sleepover the first week of August.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 8, 2026, 10:44 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ADOPTION PENDINGMeet Tilly! If happiness had four legs and a wagging tail, it would be Tilly! This little beagle girl is so full of joy and is always ready to make a new friend. She lives in a busy foster home with lots of other dogs and loves playtime with her canine buddies, but she adores her humans just as much. Tilly may be small, but she has a big personality and plenty of energy! She would thrive with an active family, a playful dog companion, and ideally a fenced yard where she can run and burn off some of that enthusiasm. Her excitement makes leash walking a work in progress, so she’ll need a patient family willing to help her learn. She’s also making progress with housetraining since arriving at her foster home only just a week ago. During the workweek, Tilly is crated for 4–5 hours when the family is away, but she’d much rather be with her people, and if she’s not happy about being left behind… she’ll happily let you know—this little beagle has quite the singing voice! If you’re looking for an affectionate, playful companion who will fill your home with laughter, love, and a little beagle music, Tilly just might be your perfect match!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 8, 2026, 10:44 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Chip is a very happy go lucky beagle. He greets everyone he meets as his new best friend and charms them with his special beagle howl. We don't know about cats, but he loves other dogs and has no trouble sharing the human attention with the other beagle in his foster home. Chip also appears to be quite fond of children. He enjoys taking long walks and is learning to walk on a leash. He keeps his nose to the ground, making sure he doesn’t miss any important scents! He would probably love to be in a fenced yard but for now, walks are okay. At night, he sleeps in a crate and has done well with that -- no crying. He also eats his meals in his crate and when his foster family has to leave him at home alone for a couple of hours he is crated then as well. He does still have lots of energy so he probably wouldn’t be happy left at home in a crate all day. Chip is doing well with his potty training. He has only been in his foster home a short while and is on a structured and consistent schedule as his foster mom has not found his sign yet that he needs to go. Chip enjoys playing with toys and, although his energy level might be slightly above moderate, he does settle easily and enjoys long naps in his dog bed with his blanket. He is somewhat independent and does not seem needy, but he will sit on your lap and is happy to receive lots of scratches and pets. He does not jump on the furniture at all and has learned to sit when he wants a treat. Overall Chip is a very happy beagle boy who would do great in a home with children, other dogs or just a family of two. He appears able to handle things well when there’s a lot going on with dogs and children and people. He just jumps right in and is part of the action. Chip is heartworm positive and will be ready for a sleepover the last week of August.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 8, 2026, 10:44 am

Story
Meet Arthur! He is a handsome 2-year-old with a heart as big as his floppy ears! This friendly, outgoing boy has never met a stranger and absolutely loves being around people. If you're looking for a loyal companion who enjoys attention, adventures, and being part of the family, Arthur may be your perfect match. Arthur is an active, playful guy who still has plenty of puppy spirit. He loves spending time outdoors, enjoys exploring the yard, and walks nicely on a leash. Whether it's a neighborhood stroll or simply hanging out with his people, Arthur is happiest when he's included. Arthur gets along with other dogs and genuinely wants to be everyone's friend. However, he's a bit of a social butterfly who doesn't always recognize when another dog has had enough playtime. Because of his enthusiastic personality, he would do best with a playful canine companion who enjoys wrestling and romping, or as an only dog where he can soak up all the attention. He would not be a good fit with an older or more reserved dog that prefers peace and quiet. Arthur is crate trained and settles in nicely when it's time to relax. With his affectionate personality, playful spirit, and love for being with his people, Arthur has all the makings of a wonderful companion for the right family. We know his forever home is out there, and we can't wait for him to find it.

Story
Meet Oscar! He is an incredibly resilient 9-year-old whose determination shines through every single day. When Oscar came to SBR, he had lost the use of his back legs. His family loved him very much but made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him because they could no longer afford the specialized medical care he needed. Just two days after arriving at SBR, Oscar underwent spinal surgery. While the neurologist repaired what could be addressed, much of what was discovered were chronic, long-standing changes to his spine. His journey isn't over, but it is filled with hope. Oscar has begun physical therapy and is working hard to learn to walk again. His neurological team is optimistic that he will regain the ability to walk, although his gait will likely never be completely normal. If you've ever met a determined basset, you'll understand Oscar perfectly—he's stubborn in all the best ways and refuses to let anything slow him down! Despite everything he's been through, Oscar remains one of the sweetest boys you'll ever meet. He gets along well with his foster sisters (as long as they don't come racing past him!), absolutely loves squeaky toys, and still tries his best to "chase" the lizards that visit the patio. His joyful spirit and zest for life are truly inspiring. Oscar still has more medical care ahead of him, including a much-needed dental procedure and neuter surgery. For now, however, his focus—and ours—is helping him regain his mobility and continue making progress one step at a time. Oscar's story is one of resilience, perseverance, and hope. We can't wait to watch him continue proving that, with love, determination, and the right care, amazing things are possible.

Story
Meet Molly! This sweet girl’s journey hasn’t always been easy. Molly was found as a stray and brought to a rural shelter in Alabama, but thankfully her luck has changed and she is now safe with SBR. While we don’t know her exact age, we believe she is around 8 years young — and don’t let that number fool you because this girl is full of love and still has plenty of life ahead of her! Molly is incredibly sweet, gentle, and has been an absolute delight since arriving at rescue. She gets along well with other dogs and has already charmed everyone she meets. Despite being found in rough shape — covered in fleas and far too skinny — Molly’s spirit has remained bright and loving. She is currently enjoying good meals, lots of care, and all the comfort she deserves while she works on gaining some healthy weight back before she can be spayed. Molly may have come to us with a few surprises, but one thing is certain: this resilient girl is more than ready for a fresh start and a family to love her forever.
