You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lex is good with dogs, cats, and even chickens, but not a fan of the new crawling baby. Lex's family had loved him since he was a puppy but made the difficult decision to reach out to Southeast Beagle Rescue to find him a loving home. He has pleasantly suprised us with his vitality as he's still active enough to give squirrels a good chase and jumps for joy when he sees a leash... and he is pretty good on leash! He has enough energy to be fun but not so much that it's overwhelming. He's also shown us that he is able to handle new situations well. He was used to home-cooked meals (loves broccoli and oranges and of course chicken). He was also used to having a dog door where he could go in and out as he pleased. But he's learning to gradually enjoy a bit of kibble now and then and also to ask to go out and come back in. We would really like to see him in a home with a fenced yard and a dog door again though. Lex wants to be around his people and is often curious to see what they are doing, but he is not a velcro dog and doesn't get stressed when foster mom is out of his sight. He is however very vocal and will let you know quickly if someone is walking down street. Lex's que to crate up is 'Go home, Lex,' and he is comfortable sleeping in his crate at night. But one thing that's especially important to him is having his blanket. He loves putting his nose underneath it and sometimes covers himself almost completely. Lex is usually a confident dog and isn't bothered by thunderstorms, fireworks, or loud noises. He's a smart boy and knows quite a few commands and tricks! He understands 'Sit,' 'Lay down,' 'Come here,' and 'Leave it.' He also knows 'High five' and 'Roll over.' One of his fun tricks is '1, 2, 3, catch!' He knows to get ready to catch something when he hears the countdown. Lex can have that beagle stubborn streak and does not like being pushed off of furniture. Instead when he needs to follow directions, he responds to a countdown of '5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and of course chicken. This gorgeous guy is fully vetted and ready to go on sleepover. He's a friendly boy who was dropped off at a Louisiana shelter as a stray and he is so happy to be in his foster home! Matty wants to hang out with his humans and be a part of whatever is going on. He loves to cuddle and will do anything for food, including stealing it when you aren’t looking. Housetraining is improving. He does well in a crate. Once his foster parents started feeding him in his crate and giving him treats there, he was eager to jump right in. He is mostly quiet, even in the crate. He doesn’t bark unless he's helping the other dogs defend the yard, but even then he is not the instigator. And Matty is good with other dogs, even if they bark and growl at him. He isn’t intimidated, he just keeps going. He loves stuffed toys but occasionally he will get hold of something that isn’t a toy. He is still learning that part of being in a house. If you want a true beagle, he is exactly what you're looking for. Matty was treated for heartworm in March. He is still full of exuberance and energy, but fortunately came to us with some good foundational training. In is foster home he has done excellent with house training and he is easy to crate. Benji is very responsive to his humans and checks in regularly - a very helpful trait. He seems to know the 'leave it' command pretty well, but to him 'sit' means 'lie down' which is actually kind of cute. Although he plays well with other dogs he still has a some learning to do regarding respectful behavior. But he's still just so young. He has the most gorgeous eyes and makes great eye contact. His coat is silky soft and his nose has the slightest little upturn at the end that gives him an elfish quality. Benji really would do best with a fenced yard because of his energy level and perhaps a wise and tolerant dog to teach him the ropes. Although if a family wanted to train him to go jogging that would be a great thing as well. He does sleep quietly in his crate in his foster mom's bedroom at night but would most likely make some noise when left alone. That would probably take some training as well and in his current foster home at least one family member is always home. Benji is like any puppy, a treasure to invest in but the payoff is a beautiful and rewarding relationship for the rest of his life. Friendly, playful, and full of personality, she loves greeting new friends, exploring outdoors, and curling up close for cuddle time. This social girl is great with other dogs, enjoying playtime and sharing toys with her canine companions. She is also wonderful with kids and gets along well with cats too. Gracie was originally rescued with a tail injury that required amputation, leaving her with an adorable little tail nub. The family in Louisiana who had her for a number of years unfortunately met with some catastrophic circumstances and needed to rehome her. She has been with one of our wonderful Fosters in Louisiana since 9/10. Gracie has a slightly above moderate energy level and she loves going to the dog park. She enjoys walks, dog-park adventures, playing, and exploring, but she is equally happy to settle in for serious cuddle time. She is doing well with housetraining once she learned the household routine. Gracie sleeps happily in her crate at night, especially with a treat, and can remain crated during the workday. She may protest briefly before settling. She loves food and treats, but is not food aggressive. Her leash manners are decent, though excitement may inspire some pulling. Above all, she is a loving, people-oriented companion who would adore a family ready to offer her affection, playtime, and a permanent place to call home. He definitely needs another playful dog and he's having a blast with the other young boy in his foster home. They have a great time sharing toys and romping about. Please see videos below. Finn loves going to the dog park and showing off his running speed, and hâ°e also loves the water. One day the pool was not available so our silly boy climbed into a water bucket. Finn does still have a few puppy traits. He will go after shoes... even when you are wearing them... he puts his feet on the counter to investigate... and he likes rugs and blankets. But foster mom is a good trainer and Finn is starting to understand 'no' when he gets into those things. When Finn is left at home alone he is in his crate. He does cry for a bit but settles down pretty quick and he doesn't destroy anything in the crate. He sleeps quietly in his crate at bedtime. Finn definitely has a high prey drive and will chase squirrels and is definitely not good with cats. His foster mom is teaching him he can't chase squirrels on the leash, but it's a work in progress. He's not a big eater and not very food motivated (toys work better). At this point in his very young life he seems to relate more with other dogs than with people, but that could change over time. He mostly asks for affection when he sees his foster brother, Jasper is getting lots of attention. We think Finn may possibly be really good at agility. His prey drive might transfer well to stuffed toys but currently he is deprived of those as they are just not allowed in the home because of the other dog absolutely destroying them.
