Story
Dakota is an energetic and loving dog I had adopted from the shelter. She is very playful and loving to any dog, cat, person or child she sees. Everyone she meets she welcomes them and acts like she has known you for years already. I love her, but with my schedule it is unfair to leave her in a cage for so long. She is not fully potty trained but with the time I could not provide I know she will figure it out. I have new printed records of her medical history including her shots and microchip. She is already ready registered in Polk County and I can switch ownership once she finds a new home.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Grover must have wandered about Lakeland for a while, hungry and alone, until he got lucky and found someone to help him. His skinny body showed prominent ribs and hip bones, and his elbows and bottom have callouses which means he probably spent a lot of time on concrete. At first it was difficult to get him to eat, but finally he got pretty regular with chicken and rice. The first thing we had to do for Grover was a good dental as he had some very loose molars which no doubt were causing him pain. Now that he's had some extractions and a good cleaning he is eating well. Grover has shown us the most gentle and docile personality. He was a little humpy at first with some of the other dogs In his foster home, but that has passed. He loves to wander about the yard and totally enjoys a good soft dog bed and a long nap In the late morning and early afternoon. He doesn't move fast but he's very alert and he has done fabulous with house training! We are so, so glad we were able to rescue this worthy senior beagle boy. You would be very blessed to give him the loving home he should have always had - but didn't get. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.This gorgeous boy just arrived from Kentucky. Coffee's owner recently passed away and he needed a new home. He is a snuggler, certainly an easy fellow to live with and he has settled into his foster home quite well. Coffee is polite to the other senior dog In his foster home but mainly interested in people. He would do well in a calm household and would prefer no children. He's doing very well with house training as his foster mom lets him out every 2 to 3 hours. Sometimes when he goes outside he is interested in chasing lizards and sniffing, and sometimes she has to encourage him to venture out a bit to do his business. But he is dutiful and then is happy to come back into the cool house. He naps a good bit during the day and often likes being in a crate but only with the door open. Closed crates can make him anxious (unless he's being transported in a car, then it's fine). Coffee is actually quite athletic and can jump up on the couch or bed. He is content to sleep on the couch at night. He is a bit stormophobic and will pant, tremble and crawl into your lap for reassurance. Coffee is heartworm negative, although he did test positive for Lyme and so is taking the antibiotic for the 30 days required. Her mama, Serafina is definitely a beagle, (see her picture), but we do not know who the father is. At a little over 6 weeks of age, we believe puppies are the right weight to be beagle sized. Serafina's puppies will be ready to go to their new homes on July 25th. They will have been spayed or neutered, dewormed, microchipped and will have received a Bordetella vaccination and two Distemper/Parvo vaccinations. Adopters will be responsible to complete the booster vaccinations and, when they are old enough, the Rabies vaccination. If you are interested in adopting, please submit an Adoption Survey on our website and our adoption team will contact you promptly. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ADOPTION PENDINGWhen we first saw Serafina's shelter video. We knew we had to save her. After we got her to a foster, we realized she appeared to be pregnant and we soon confirmed that. The vet also confirmed she was heartworm positive and recommended that we spay and abort her pregnancy, but we said no. She has been a wonderful little mama and delivered five healthy puppies who will be ready for adoption late July. But Serafina has done her mommy duty and is ready to come to Florida. She loves her food and has learned to jump on a bar stool to get what's on the counter. She is a great snuggler and her life now consists of playing, napping and eating. What more could a beagle ask for? We expect Serafina to arrive in Florida on the 17th of June, but she will need to be spayed and treated for Heartworms, so won't be ready for a while.
