He's a friendly boy who was dropped off at a Louisiana shelter as a stray and he is so happy to be in his foster home! Matty wants to hang out with his humans and be a part of whatever is going on. He loves to cuddle and will do anything for food, including stealing it when you aren’t looking. Housetraining is improving. He does well in a crate. Once his foster parents started feeding him in his crate and giving him treats there, he was eager to jump right in. He is mostly quiet, even in the crate. He doesn’t bark unless he's helping the other dogs defend the yard, but even then he is not the instigator. And Matty is good with other dogs, even if they bark and growl at him. He isn’t intimidated, he just keeps going. He loves stuffed toys but occasionally he will get hold of something that isn’t a toy. He is still learning that part of being in a house. If you want a true beagle, he is exactly what you're looking for. Matty was treated for heartworm in March. She is also very good with other dogs, both male and female, and gentle with cats. One cat she met bopped her on the nose and Colleen just rolled over on her back. :) She was seen being dumped from a car, but fortunately she was rescued and taken to a very good shelter. She has now settled in well in her Florida foster home. She has a moderate to low energy level, will occasionally play with toys and sometimeswith other dogs. Although she likes her food, she is not super food motivated and a little crazy like some beagles can be. She also walks well on leash. Colleen will make someone the most calm, serene and loving companion. She tested positive for heartworms but has completed her treatment and ready for a sleepover. Friendly, playful, and full of personality, she loves greeting new friends, exploring outdoors, and curling up close for cuddle time. This social girl is great with other dogs, enjoying playtime and sharing toys with her canine companions. She is also wonderful with kids and gets along well with cats too. Gracie was originally rescued with a tail injury that required amputation, leaving her with an adorable little tail nub. The family in Louisiana who had her for a number of years unfortunately met with some catastrophic circumstances and needed to rehome her. She has been with one of our wonderful Fosters in Louisiana since 9/10. Gracie has a slightly above moderate energy level and she loves going to the dog park. She enjoys walks, dog-park adventures, playing, and exploring, but she is equally happy to settle in for serious cuddle time. She is doing well with housetraining once she learned the household routine. Gracie sleeps happily in her crate at night, especially with a treat, and can remain crated during the workday. She may protest briefly before settling. She loves food and treats, but is not food aggressive. Her leash manners are decent, though excitement may inspire some pulling. Above all, she is a loving, people-oriented companion who would adore a family ready to offer her affection, playtime, and a permanent place to call home. He definitely needs another playful dog and he's having a blast with the other young boy in his foster home. They have a great time sharing toys and romping about. Please see videos below. Finn loves going to the dog park and showing off his running speed, and hâ°e also loves the water. One day the pool was not available so our silly boy climbed into a water bucket. Finn does still have a few puppy traits. He will go after shoes... even when you are wearing them... he puts his feet on the counter to investigate... and he likes rugs and blankets. But foster mom is a good trainer and Finn is starting to understand 'no' when he gets into those things. When Finn is left at home alone he is in his crate. He does cry for a bit but settles down pretty quick and he doesn't destroy anything in the crate. He sleeps quietly in his crate at bedtime. Finn definitely has a high prey drive and will chase squirrels and is definitely not good with cats. His foster mom is teaching him he can't chase squirrels on the leash, but it's a work in progress. He's not a big eater and not very food motivated (toys work better). At this point in his very young life he seems to relate more with other dogs than with people, but that could change over time. He mostly asks for affection when he sees his foster brother, Jasper is getting lots of attention. We think Finn may possibly be really good at agility. His prey drive might transfer well to stuffed toys but currently he is deprived of those as they are just not allowed in the home because of the other dog absolutely destroying them. She adores being outside sniffing and running around, and inside she is just as much of an explorer, jumping on her little hind legs to see whatever is on the counter! Iris is not hugely food motivated oddly enough, she's just an investigator. And she loves toys -- squishy toys, ones that make noise, ones with crinkles in them. She likes to chew but has not destroyed or ripped any up. She is special in the way she loves to be near her humans. She is very lovey! Iris is also very friendly with new people and is thrilled when guests come over. If she is taken to a new environment though, it may take her a little time because, well she's just got to investigate before she's totally comfortable! She can be super energetic at times but also LOVES to snooze for extended periods of time. At night she sleeps in a crate in the bedroom. Her foster family is retired so currently Iris is never alone. In her previous foster home the family worked and she was crated sometimes for up to 8-9 hours. She was not particularly happy with the situation and was pretty vocal about it, so we have promised her that we will look for a family who is home much more of the time. Housetraining was also a previous issue, but with free access to a fenced yard via a dog door, Iris has been a full week with zero accidents. She has done very well with the large pack of dogs she is with currently, but previously exhibited some occasional bossiness with other dogs. We think this may come from inexperience and hope her current situation has improved her social skills, but she will need clear boundaries from her humans. Iris is admittedly not great on leash so we do recommend a fenced yard... or patient people who will train.
