Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Buddy is a super easy guy, quite friendly and even playful with other dogs. His foster sister had lost interest in toys but now that Buddy is around they are playing with them together. He follows his foster mom around the house and, although his vision and hearing are diminished, he navigates quite well. He's also done very well with house training and if he can't hold it all the way through the, he goes to the guest bathroom and uses a potty pad. Such a thoughtful little guy! Buddy is on an inexpensive medication (Telmisartan) which costs about $8 a month. Buddy's medication is working great and recent lab work in April looks really good! If you have a love for seniors, this is definitely the guy for you!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 22, 2025, 5:48 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fritz's blend of breeds resulted in stunning good looks and a friendly, happy personality. He and Chickie were little lost strays in Alabama, but they have both now arrived to their new foster homes in Florida. Fritz fit in immediately and is already playing with his foster siblings. He's making straight A's in house training and his foster mom thinks he's wonderful! At night he sleeps in his crate and has learned to settle down quickly when it's bedtime. He is also crated when the family is away from home and does not cry or fuss. Fritz is very young and still does some puppy chewing. However, he listens very well and when told 'no', he doesn't chew on the same thing again. He loves toys, soft bones, ropes, rubber balls and Kong type toys. Anytime he tries chewing something he shouldn't, we give him a toy and he happily re-focuses his energy on the toy. Fritz is heartworm negative and ready to go on a sleepover with someone who will be very lucky to have him!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 4, 2025, 3:50 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lena is a tiny little thing and such a lover! She is a little timid at first but just needs to feel safe. She came to us in mid-February from a Louisiana shelter along with Gena, who is also on our website. Both girls were very skinny and had some significant skin and coat issues. It's wonderful to see her regaining her good health! Lena is curious and playful and really wants to be with other dogs. At first we thought the two girls might need to be adopted together, but we have lately noted that Lena is growing less dependent upon Gena. As long as she is not an only dog, we think she will be fine. She has done well with potty training unless she is left alone for too long and then she will go on a pee pad. Lena was heartworm positive but has already been through her treatment. She is ready for a sleepover!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 17, 2025, 5:33 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Grover must have wandered about Lakeland for a while, hungry and alone, until he got lucky and found someone to help him. His skinny body showed prominent ribs and hip bones, and his elbows and bottom have callouses which means he probably spent a lot of time on concrete. At first it was difficult to get him to eat, but finally he got pretty regular with chicken and rice. The first thing we had to do for Grover was a good dental as he had some very loose molars which no doubt were causing him pain. Now that he's had some extractions and a good cleaning he is eating well. Grover has shown us the most gentle and docile personality. He was a little humpy at first with some of the other dogs In his foster home, but that has passed. He loves to wander about the yard and totally enjoys a good soft dog bed and a long nap In the late morning and early afternoon. He doesn't move fast but he's very alert and he has done fabulous with house training! We are so, so glad we were able to rescue this worthy senior beagle boy. You would be very blessed to give him the loving home he should have always had - but didn't get. He'll be ready for sleepover the last week of May.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 15, 2025, 8:12 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Pippy -- a beagle who wished for freedom and got her wish! Most all of her life was spent in an outdoor, elevated box, just being let out a few times a year to hunt. She's very quiet and gentle, and loves to be paid attention to. As soon as you stop loving on her she will scamper about in a happy dance that will make you laugh! When Pippy is on the move, she has the most adorable little trot. She has a  LOT more energy than you would expect for her estimated age. Pippy loves to be outdoors and learned quite quickly how to use the dog door in her foster home. She's made straight A's in house training. Crating is no problem and she will often choose to nap there if the door is open. She is very friendly with other dogs and would probably play if one would play back gently. If they are too rough she will skitter away. Pippi's heart has suffered a bit from the heartworms, the medication she's been on has helped and we were able to move forward with a much needed dental. She is feeling so much better! We have also been able to have her spayed and removed some mammary tumors. We have, however, decided that it is in Pippy's best interest to do the slow kill method of heartworm treatment. We want her to have the very best quality of life because she is enjoying herself so much now! Please consider opening your home and heart to this little girl. We will be happy to share more information on her treatment plan.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 23, 2025, 9:12 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Wiggles, wags and exuberant kisses! Maybe only a tiny bit of beagle, but a WHOLE LOT OF CUTE and Nora is sure to charm you. She's a special case though and we'd like an adopter willing to communicate with Nora's personal trainers. Nora will resource guard her toys from dogs she doesn’t know or trust. However this is something she can work through with help from a person she trusts. When Nora is first around new friends, she needs to be watched carefully and supported. But it's important for you to know that Nora currently attends daycare with up to 20 other dogs with toys strewn about the play area, and does very well. Her trainer friends understand Nora's body language cues and know she needs to feel safe, especially when she's ready to spend some one-on-one time with a toy. They let her know that she can take that toy to her crate and have all the uninterrupted time she wants. Otherwise she mixes and mingles with the other dogs without problem.  Nora has miles of personality and is definitely a dog who will bring much to your life.       Here's a little from her trainers, 'Nora loves being carried from her crate to the door upside down like the baby that she is. She plays hard, but does well with our daycare crew whether they’re 10lbs or 150lbs. This girl is ready to either go on an adventure - or have an all day cuddle on the couch with some snacks… and boy can this girl snack. She definitely loves food, which makes her a breeze for training.' Nora comes with a free 6 week Level 1 Obedience Class through Procyon Training in Ocala, FL or 3 virtual online sessions.      One other thing we want you to know - when Nora first came into the rescue, we noticed a little opacity in her left eye. We took her to the Veterinary Eye Institute and they confirmed it was a congenital defect which will remain the same. It does cause some slight vision impairment on that side though... just something to be aware of.        Nora is heartworm negative and is ready for a sleepover. If you are interested in falling in love with her, we would set up a meet and greet with her and her trainers. We will do what it takes to make that happen because Nora is a remarkable dog and we know she will be treasured and adored.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 3, 2025, 2:56 pm
