Meet Hudson This handsome boy found himself at a high kill shelter. With no one looking for him, he found himself on death row. We rescued him and brought him to our no kill shelter to give him time to find his forever home. He is a great young dog who now has his whole life ahead of him. Hudson is two years old. At some point, someone must have loved him because he is house-trained. He has excellent manners and is well-behaved. He walks easily on a leash and everyone at the shelter loves walking him. He is exceptionally handsome. Not sure what his breeds are, but our best guess is tri-color coonhound/beagle or basset mix. He only weighs 37 lbs. and is fully grown. He’s pretty quiet and doesn’t bay or howl. He loves being with people and looks forward to getting out of his kennel. We’ll test him with other dogs. He does react to some dogs (while on a leash), but that could be because he’s uncertain and confused. Although he wags his tail, is friendly to everyone and loves scratchies and pets, he seems sad and out of place. We can tell he doesn’t want to be in the shelter, and he longs for the peace and quiet of a loving home. We hope a forever person/family comes for him and gives him all his heart longs for. He will be a wonderful and loving companion. If interested in welcoming Hudson to your heart and home, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call our shelter at 706-865-4135 and leave a message to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Meet Bonbon! This sweet 5-year-old, 20-pound Beagle was rescued from a devastating hoarding case involving 80 other Beagles. Bonbon is a gentle, low-energy girl who can be a bit timid, so she’s looking for a patient, loving adopter to guide her as she learns the joys of her new life. She absolutely adores snuggles and will blossom into a devoted companion for someone willing to show her that humans can be kind, the world isn’t so scary, and life can be truly beautiful. She is working on her leash training but would greatly benefit in a home with a fenced-in yard and another dog who can provide companionship for her. Coming Soon... Meet Betty Boop. Betty Boop is a beagle that is estimated to be 4 years old. We recently rescued several beagles from a local animal control. Furkids is in the process of vetting all of these dogs. Once they are completely vetted, they will be available for meet and greets and then adoption. We are going to begin screening applications in advance, so that we can get them to their forever home as soon as possible! What we know... these babies are all very SWEET. Because they came from a hoarding case, they have had minimal human exposure and are now learning what it's like to be a normal dog. These dogs will require a fenced yard, as they can't walk on a leash. Due to the breed and how much they like to howl, we are not recommending apartments due to noise concerns.
