Story
Say hello to Arizona! This lovable pup started her journey with us as a tiny baby, found a family, and then sadly made her way back when her medical needs became too much for them to handle. Arizona has Addison’s disease, which means she takes a pill every day and gets one injection a month—it's part of her routine now, and she's a champ about it. She’s had a bumpy road and can be a little shy at first, so she’ll need some time (and patience!) to get comfortable with new people. Because of her history, we think Arizona would do best in a calm home without young children. She gets along well with mellow dogs and will need a secure backyard for her outdoor adventures. Arizona is looking for someone who understands she needs to settle in at her own pace, no rushing. Once she trusts you, she’s an absolute sweetheart and will show you just how wonderful she can be. If you’re ready for a loyal friend and can give her the care and understanding she needs, Arizona just might be your perfect match!

Story
Meet Starla! This sweet Beagle Mix lady is 4 years old and weighs about 25lbs. Starla came to rescue after ending up in the shelter incredibly pregnant. Despite our vet's best efforts, Starla lost all of her puppies, leaving her sad and confused. Fast forward a few months later, this sweet girl is coming into her own and realizing how wonderful having a family in a home can be! Starla is very sweet, rolling on her back for belly rubs whenever she gets the chance. She loves to go for walks and to explore the yard. She is fostered with other dogs and with cats and has done well meeting everyone, although a little nervous at first. Starla is fostered with two human foster brothers, ages 11 and 6 and gets frequent visits from the neighborhood kids, who love to take her for walks! Starla is great on a leash - sometimes needing a little extra persuasion to keep walking if she hears a scary noise! Starla is working very hard on her potty training skills and has improved so much since entering her foster home. Her foster family is confident that she will continue to improve in a new home with a consistent routine. Starla may have had a rough start, but she has overcome several obstacles to get to where she is today! She would love to keep improving with a family of her own! If you are interested in making Starla a part of your family - apply today! Her adoption fee is $275. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Hi I'm Merlin! I'm a little shy but once you get to know me I'm as sweet as can be. I'm around 6 years old and 45 lbs, and I would do best with a simple, routine life without too much excitement. In fact, I could spend almost all day on the couch with my head on your shoulder. I am vision impaired but once you help me learn where everything is, I do just fine navigating on my own- I'm even crate trained and enjoy having a crate as my "home base". I am perfect with cats and dogs, and would really love a dog friend to help me continue building my confidence. I do need a fenced in yard at my forever home, being on leash is tough for me until I feel super safe and secure. If you're a homebody with a little bit of patience and a gentle soul, I would be the perfect companion for you and I am sure to give you all the love you'll ever need.   All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   December 16, 2025, 11:39 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.Miss Percy Sue Pickles came to OBHR under the name Persimmon but we have since changed that to something more fun and fitting!  Percy came to OBHR a HOT MESS!! She had no hair on her chest, bottom, hoo hoo, back legs and very sparse on her back. Her eyes were cloudy and goopy. She was obviously used to crank out puppies over the years and probably was dumped. Thank goodness she was picked up by a good hearted person who took her to the shelter who then contacted us. Percy Sue Pickles' foster family has been taking fantastic care of her and a lot of her hair is coming back in! She is still pretty bald on the booty and legs, but things are filling in! She has some new eye meds and they are also clearing up. We are not sure she can see 100% but thank goodness she has that hound dog nose! Percy is guessed to be a bea-bull...beagle bulldog and about 8 years old. She is a sweet girl who would love a family of her own. She is spayed, chipped and up to date on all shots, but it still continuing with her meds for her eyes and skin. She is a little gal at 36 pounds of spunk!   She is good with other dogs, chickens, ducks, lizards.....doing fantastic in her foster home! She is a spunky little girl who may take a few days to warm up to you but she will eventually pay you back with love over and over!  She is available for adoption now if she can go to a home close enough to our Columbus vet so they can continue to check her progress for a few more weeks.  If you are interested in Percy Sue Pickles, please fill out the online application at ohiobassetrescue.com. Once approved email us at ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com and we will put you in touch with her foster!       Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 25, 2025, 3:49 pm
