You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Benny is looking for a special home.  This sweet handsome boy is 11 years young. He’s got pep in his step and flap in his giant ears. However, it is very clear that he has been through some trauma in the last few years, which has resulted in resource guarding behavior around food-related items. He also sometimes needs his space and requires that his people pet him only when he asks for attention.  The good news? He shows none of this behavior toward other dogs and his triggers can be managed with some careful set-up of his environment. The better news? Benny has been working on learning new behaviors with the help of a professional trainer. He will continue to need reinforcement of these new behaviors in his new home.  Benny needs to go to a home with adults only. Not because he doesn’t like kids, but because kids have a harder time with following the systems required to keep everyone safe. He would be happy with or without furry siblings and has lived with dogs, a cat, and a rabbit.  Do you have room in your heart and your house for an older gentleman who wants nothing more than a walk, a snack, and a nap? Can you modify the environment so that no food or food-adjacent trash is accessible to a determined beagle nose? Can you resist petting these big old ears unless requested? This sweet boy hasn’t met a human yet who he doesn’t immediately think is his new best friend! He’s the kind of dog who makes you feel like you’ve been best friends forever! Champ is a retired hunting beagle who was lovingly surrendered when his owner began experiencing health issues. He was well cared for and described as being good with children and other dogs. His experience with cats is unknown. His former owner also shared that Champ is fast and strong and would take off if given the opportunity, so he should not be allowed off leash in an unsecured area. Because of this, his forever family will need a secure, fenced-in backyard where he can safely enjoy his beagle adventures.  After spending much of his early life in a kennel environment, Champ is adjusting to home life and has discovered how much he loves being with his people. He can experience some separation anxiety and would always prefer snuggling with his humans than sleeping in his crate at night. Champ loves playing with his foster brother and sister, both rescue beagles, and has plenty of puppy energy. He’s always ready for another round of fun—even when his foster siblings are ready for a break! His classic beagle bark makes an appearance when he thinks playtime should continue.  Champ is looking for a loving, active family who will keep him safe, support his training, and give him the companionship he craves. We are looking at rehoming Bear. He’s about 7 years old (8-28-2019). Fully potty trained, uses door bells to say when he wants to go out. Likes to be out side when it’s warm. Gets along with other dogs and cats, but he loves being an old man and just needs someone to relax with. Due to kids and sports we just don’t have the time he needs and when we are around he doesn’t get as much attention. He is older but still has many years left, just wants someone he can spend more time with. Loves to lay in bed and sit on chairs with people.
