Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Jack, a year old male Beagle, who will win your heart over. Jack loves everyone, he will gently put his paws on you to get closer, will snuggle with you if you let him, and loves with his WHOLE heart. Jack was a surrendered hunting dog at 9 months old. He has spent the last 3 months in foster care being treated for heartworm. He is heartworm free and ready to get out and do things! Jack is definitely still a puppy, learning how to navigate living in a home. We found it beneficial to use his harness and leash along with positive praise and treats to curb unwanted behavior.   Jack is looking forward to having a job that will use his energy. Maybe a jogging companion, a walking companion, a gardening buddy, who knows. He loves the outdoors. He would love to have a home with a fence so he could run and be safe. He loved the neighbor boy, and all adults he’s interacted with.   Jack is brave. He isn’t worried about thunder, screams (yes, I screamed when there was a spider on me), or vacuums.   Jack doesn’t like to be left by those he loves, which is everybody. He will howl for a few seconds, and stop if you distract him - treat, toy, positive and excited voice. When left alone, he is currently being medicated, crated, and has a foster dog who is nearby. This helps with his feelings of abandonment.  So we do recommend another dog in the home with him. We all are hopeful that now that he is allowed to exercise that he will expend his energy and that he can find a home that has a lot of activity and a dog pal. Jack likes cats, but will chase cats that run. So introductions will need to be thought out and monitored.    We think Jack is super smart, willing to please, and absolutely adorable. We hope you do too! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.All animal breeds and ages are a best estimate July 18, 2024, 2:12 pm

Story
Tim McGraw is a sweet senior beagle/bassett (bagel!) who came to the shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. He's an easy going guy who takes life as it comes and doesn't need a lot to keep him happy (plenty of time to sniff and plenty of snacks!). He doesn't mind other dogs but he's past wanting to put up with puppy nonsense. He lived with a couple of other dogs so he would be fine with another easy going friend who wouldn't mind a friend who is content to coexist! If you enjoy long, meandering walks and are pretty content to take life at a senior pace, Tim would love to meet you (joggers need not apply!). All our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots before adoption!

Story
This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! At 7 months old and 35 pounds, Avalon is all puppy and is still growing. She’d make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker or runner or an active family. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, so supervision while she’s playing is a good idea. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 40 to 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. She’s cautious around strangers but will warm up to them if given time to get to know them. Avalon’s foster mom says that she a very smart girl and is picking up obedience basics such as “sit,” “wait,” and “come,” and is working on improving her leash manners. Avalon rides well in the car and goes to doggy daycare two or three days a week, where she really seems to enjoy hanging out and playing with her friends there. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. When it’s time to go to sleep, Avalon is equally happy to snuggle up in a dog bed or people bed – she just wants to be comfy! She’s housetrained with the use of a doggy door. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

Story
Toby is a 1 and 1/2 year old ginger beagle. He is very energetic and needs lots of exercise. He would do best as the only dog. He does play with the other dogs in the house but likes to be the alpha male and on occasion has growled at the other foster dog. He likes attention. He loves his toys and treats. This handsome beagle is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention and get plenty of exercise. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Hi, I'm Perry! I'm such a unique and special boy. Last summer I was hit by a car and sustained serious damage to my front legs. One leg needed to be amputated and the other has some nerve damage that never fully recovered. Don’t let that fool you though! I can get around very well, go up and down stairs, jump on the couch and bed, and even play ball for hours. I do have a prosthesis that was especially made for me. I am very dog selective and it has been determined I should be in an only dog home. I absolutely adore people, children, cats and playing outside. If you are looking for a very handsome boy with a survivor story to tell, contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor for more information about me! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
