Story
BUGSY 5 years Attributes: Dog friendly Requires another dog Housetrained Playful Snuggly Medium energy Requires a fenced yard Likes car rides Bugs' early life wasn't easy, but you'd never know it from his joyful spirit. This 3 - 5 year old, 22 pound beagle radiates sweetness. He's gentle, affectionate, and happiest when he's near his people or curled up with another dog. His house manners are excellent — he's never had an accident and uses the dog door like a pro. Bugs loves having a fenced yard where he can trot around and do a few joyful zoomies each day. Inside, he's a calm, content companion who enjoys napping near the resident beagles, watching the world go by from the front window, and playing with his beloved toys. Evening snuggles are a must in his book. He rides beautifully in the car and sleeps soundly in a dog bed next to his foster mom. Bugs isn't a big fan of the crate, but he doesn't need one — he can be trusted alone as long as chewable items are put away. Walks are still new to him, but he gains confidence when he has another dog by his side. He'd do best in a home with a friendly canine companion. Bugs recently completed heartworm treatment with no symptoms and will need a retest in October, along with lifelong monthly prevention. He also tested positive for Lyme, ehrlichia, and anaplasmosis and completed a month of doxycycline without any symptoms. Bugs has loved every child he's met and would be thrilled to join an active, loving family who enjoys playtime, cuddles, and lots of love. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
KYRA 2 years LYRA 1 year Attributes Bonded pair Dog friendly Adult-only home Not best for apartments Housetrained Need a fenced yard Kyra and Lyra are a beautiful, young, bonded pair of small girls who are ready to find a loving home together. They came from a breeder situation and are now discovering how wonderful life in a home can be. With each passing day in their foster home, they continue to grow in confidence and show just how special they are. These two are inseparable and share a sweet, devoted bond—they truly do everything together. Kyra, about 2 years old, is the more confident of the pair. Whether it’s heading outside or settling in for bedtime, she helps show Lyra the way. Kyra is curious and gently explores her surroundings, and once she feels comfortable, she enjoys back scratches, belly rubs, treats, and even following her foster family around. She loves cozy spots—whether that’s by your feet, on the couch, or snuggled up with a dog friend. Lyra, around 1½ years old, is a thoughtful and observant girl who still requires encouragement from Kyra and other dogs. While she is reserved, she is clearly interested in connecting and has already made progress—taking treats by hand and choosing to rest near her foster mom. With time and patience, her sweet personality will continue to shine through. Both girls have made good strides since arriving in foster care. They are learning to relax, enjoy a predictable routine, and feel safe in their environment. Because of this, they would do best in a home in a quiet suburban or rural neighborhood – apartment living and the hustle and bustle of city life is not for them! They would prefer an adult-only home, but a quiet home with calm, older children might also be a viable option. Car rides are not on their list of favorite things to do, but hopefully over time they will learn that car rides can lead to fun. They love having cozy spaces to unwind and will happily play, run, and wrestle together when they think no one is watching! Their playful side really comes out with each other and with other friendly dogs. Kyra and Lyra are housetrained with only occasional accidents and do best with regular outdoor access, so a fenced yard will help them continue to succeed. They haven’t yet learned leash walking but are making progress every day in building trust and confidence. These gentle, loving girls are looking for a patient and understanding home that will continue to nurture their growth. In return, they will offer a special bond—not only with each other, but with the lucky family who gives them the chance to fully blossom into the happy, loving companions they are meant to be. SHEILA 2 – 3 years Attributes Adult-Only Home Preferred Will potty on leash Crate Trained Does not Like Car Rides Not good with Cats Dog Friendly Working on House Training Medium Energy Playful Not best for Apartments Hi Everyone, My name is Sheila. I am a stunning 15-inch blue tick beagle, and under three years old (DOB 07-26-23). I had a family that included other dogs. Unfortunately, we needed new homes because of our owners’ ages and health issues. My foster family said I have the sweetest personality. I LOVE people and spending time with them…petting sessions are the best! I am docile, friendly with other dogs, loving and well socialized. I was an outdoor dog, but I am nearly housetrained (approximately 75%). I LOVE BEING IN A HOME! I have not destroyed anything other than some dents in the dog toys. I have a medium energy level. I get the zoomies, but I like to nap or to play with toys for a large portion of the day. My previous owners trained me for trail runs (officially retired when I came to Midwest BREW). Because of my trail run experience, I have a hunt drive, but it has been decreasing during my time with my foster family. Surprisingly, if you take me for a walk, it is loose leash walking except for sniffing along the way (I am a beagle). I am approximately 36 lbs., but I am slim. Note from the foster home: Sheila is an extremely sweet, loving and funny foster dog. She is VERY smart. She loves to “hug” us with her front legs. Her transition into a home is going much quicker than expected. She is good with our resident beagle. Sheila has been good at interacting with children in the neighborhood. We do not have a fenced yard, but she potties on a leash. Leashed activities should be handled by adults because she is a bit strong. She is crate trained. Color about fence experience was provided by previous owners – she could climb the fenced-in recreational area with or without the assistance of the surrounding trees. Sheila is still adjusting to being in a car. She will not do well in a home with cats or smaller animals such as guinea pigs. We recommend a residential home (she has an entire repertoire of adorable, but louder noises that would not be conducive for an apartment or townhouse). NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Hello, my name is Dolly, I am a senior dog who knows what I am looking for in a forever home. I will be an open book from the start! You will know important things like my full-grown size, personality, and ideal lifestyle. I would enjoy a more low-key lifestyle to live out my golden years! I’m looking for a lowkey household without any young kids or cats so I can be your main focus. I can be selective when it comes to new friends, so I’d like to meet any potential dog siblings before I go home.Dolly is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!
