Story
Please contact Mark (btfoha@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Adoption Donation $199    Located: New England Age: approx. 10 years old Weight: 40 lbs.   Louie, also known as Dre, was picked up as a stray in a local city, and no one came looking for him, which really is surprising because he is such a sweet guy with a beautiful temperament and coat and appears to have been well cared for and loved. He loves being outside, going for walks, playing fetch, squeaky toys and going for rides in the car. He is very much a lapdog and would love someone to be around more than not. He does have some old man lumps and bumps that the vets says are fatty tumors and not of concern. One is larger than the others but does not cause him any discomfort. Louie could stand to lose a few pounds and would benefit from regular exercise and a healthy diet. He is happy to be out of the shelter and in a foster home but would really love a family of his own again. This guy is a younger 10 year old that still has pep in his step and plenty of life left to live and love to give. He is doing great with the 5 year old boy in his foster home.    If you are interested in adopting Louie/Dre please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  btfoha@gmail.com  Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: 1 yr as of 4/8/26 Weight: 22 lbs. as of 4/8/26 Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Letty is a one‑year‑old, 22‑lb beagle mix with the softest eyes and the sweetest nature. She’s a quiet little girl with a soft, thoughtful presence that makes her incredibly endearing. She takes comfort in quiet companionship, and chooses to observe rather than participate in her surroundings. She will have brief moments of solo zoomies in the fenced yard, and also perks up with interest when the other dogs start to play around her, but she chooses not to directly interact with others much at this time. She’s doing well with housetraining, co-exists well with other dogs, is calm in her crate for hours at a time, and prefers to spend her days observing quiet activities at home and nights sleeping in the bed with her people.   Letty is still getting her bearings after traveling from Oklahoma to RI, and she will likely take longer than most rescue dogs to start to show her true personality. She needs a quiet household that is committed to allowing her to blossom at her own speed. Sudden movements or noises in the home startle her, and she can be overwhelmed by o ff property excursions and social interactions. She is as quiet and docile as a mouse, and needs an equally gentle home that will maintain a safe space for her for however long she needs to settle and build confidence. Access to a fenced-in outdoor area would help her transition along, too. Letty will thrive with a gentle, patient family who will cherish Letty for who she is today, and who will celebrate every small moment of progress over the coming years as she discovers comfort, routine, and love. Come say hi to Letty! Letty's Backstory: Letty comes from a hoarding situation in Oklahoma, where she was kept in large outdoor kennels with many other dogs . Despite her challenging first year of life, she has held onto her loving, trusting heart — she leans into affection, watches other dogs play with interest, and is already learning how good life can be inside a home. Note: Caregivers of dogs from hoarding situations should be prepared for quirks as well as fear of normal household things/life, people, and excursions.  Adopters of dogs like these need to be looking to adopt to help the dog, not so much to get a pet for themselves with specific expectations of the pet.  While dogs from hoarding situations can make great pets, they need a home and lifestyle that is gentle, accommodating and will be forgiving as their needs and personalities unfold.  Here is a great resource:  https://www.washingtonpashelter.org/understanding-and-caring-for-rescued-hoarded-dogs/ An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. Story
Hello world, my name is Wally. I am the cutest fellow you have ever met. I am a red/fawn with black trim Beagle mix. At first glance you would think I am an old man because of the white on my mouth. But, this is not true. My age is around 2- 3 years old. My teeth are beautiful. I am prematurely turning gray. While I was being neutered, the vet saw a bump on top of my head. The bump was healed with no sign of what could possibly be in it. So when the vet opened the bump, a pellet came out. She and her staff were discussed with finding the pellet, and sorrowful with the thought of what he has been through. The pellet is a small clue into my past. My foster family spotted me crossing a deserted country road carrying something in my mouth running to an open field. They say at first I looked like I was heading someplace carrying a prize. But once I realized they had stopped, car door open and wanted me to get in, that's all it took. I dropped what I was carrying and ran to them. What hasn't been mentioned is where they found me, there is not any homes for a few miles in either direction. My chances of just being lost are non- existing; I was dumped. I am so happy, when I see people or other animals, I sing my beautiful Beagle song. I am ready for my furever family and have adventures. I love car rides, snuggling, and playing. I have never been hike or camping, but, I know I would love it. My foster mom noticed how I like splashing in the water bowls. There is a world of fun waiting. Please request an application from alittlelonger2home@gmail.com to begin the adoption process. Once you receive the application, please fill out completely including your three references email addresses. Your references cannot be related to you. Story
Meet Bonnie 🐾 Sweet Bonnie’s story began on the side of the road… alone, scared, hungry, and covered in ticks with nobody there to care for her. Thankfully, two kind-hearted Good Samaritans found her wandering by herself and made sure she got the help she so desperately needed. ❤️ At around 5 years old, this beautiful Beagle girl had clearly been struggling to survive on her own, searching for safety and wondering where her next meal would come from. When Bonnie arrived to us, she was underweight, exhausted, and covered in ticks from head to toe. But slowly, day by day, Bonnie has started learning what love feels like. As she’s spent time with our staff, her gentle personality has begun to shine through. Beneath the fear is an incredibly sweet soul who just needed patience, kindness, and a chance. Bonnie absolutely LOVES going for walks and sniffing the world around her like only a true Beagle can. And if there’s one thing she’s learned to get excited about, it’s FOOD! Honestly, Bonnie’s favorite time of day is any time snacks or meals are involved, and we don’t blame her one bit after everything she’s been through. While Bonnie can still be nervous when meeting new people, once she realizes she’s safe, her walls come tumbling down. Before long, she’s leaning in for affection, wagging her tail, and soaking up all the love she can get. She truly wants to trust, she just needs someone willing to give her a little time. Bonnie deserves so much more than the lonely life she came from. She deserves soft beds, full bowls, peaceful walks, and a family that will never let her feel abandoned again. After surviving on her own for who knows how long, Bonnie is finally ready to find the forever home she’s always deserved. 💕 With her shy nature, she can be nervous at first around other dogs at first, but will warm up to them. She doesn't seem to mind cats as long as they don't chase after her and can be on the same energy level. We would recommend kids being 10+ years just so they're not too hectic for her. If you are interested in this sweet girl, feel free to fill out an application online, or come down the the shelter to fill one out. If you have any other questions call us at 508-995-6661
