Our sweet Murphy is the love hound - lover of all things, just not other dogs! He simply can't get enough of people - young and old, small and tall. But dogs of any size and that's a no!Murphy came to us from the same person as Winston and Ollie. Given their previous lifestyle, we can certainly understand his stance with other dogs - he has lived outside in close quarters with them and enough is enough! So bring on the people for Murphy - let him look into their eyes like he does, so that their hearts instantly melt! He is most definitely a people charmer!Murphy is 5-years-old and weighs 32 pounds. He is heartworm positive but has started his treatment and it is all covered by AAS, even once he goes home!So if you have no other pets but are looking for the perfect companion, please come meet this charming boy! Murphy will steal your heart the instant you see him! Murphy and his friends are available to meet every single day, rain or snow, from 9am-12pm!Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton VA.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Story
THOSE EYES -- so much soul, so much love!!!!This 35-pound, 5-year-old, healthy Beagle is actually very quiet!Winston doesn't bark and bay -- he communicates with his eyes. They absolutely shine with joy when he sees a friend (and everyone is a friend!), they sparkle with glee when he sees a toy (as do ours -- there's nothing like watching Winston bounce and chase after a ball), and they fill with sorrow when we go away.Yesterday, Winston met a little girl, about three years old.He had a blast playing with her -- Winston was so gentle, and his tiny human friend just ran and laughed! When they finally tired out, they snuggled together on a pillow under a desk. That's our Winston -- ALWAYS up for hugs and snuggles! Please come meet this sweet, silly, affectionate, guy -- our Winston wants to be yours! He longs for companionship, and his eyes just light up when he gets it. Young, old, big, small -- Winston LOVES everyone! And those eyes -- you'll never have to guess how much he adores you.Winston is waiting for you at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are daily, 9am to noon -- including weekends & holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Story
Please help us welcome back our little love bug of a beagle, Ollie! He was adopted and returned because he wasn't a good fit with the other male dog in the home (but was fine with the female). Ollie was sweet, snuggly, never destructive or loud, and housetrained!!!Originally, Ollie was surrendered with nine other beagles by a hunter to Sussex and we are lucky enough to help find his new family. He is five-years-old and about as darling as they come!Everything is new and exciting for Ollie! When playing catch with some volunteers, he kept getting sidetracked because he would pick up a new and exciting scent on the way to fetch the ball!Ollie loves to snuggle and would love to meet YOU! He is available to meet every day from 9am-12pm - come see our snuggle bug and let him shower you with love!UPDATE: Ollie visited the vet for his intake exam and was FABULOUS! Everyone fell in love with this calm, snuggly, happy little guy. Other than an ear infection (which we're treating), Ollie is HEALTHY and ready to go home!Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
DIXIE LOU IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION FROM HER FOSTER HOME. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN HER, PLEASE EMAIL US AT PRAS-FOSTER@NNVA.GOV AND WE WILL GET A MEETING SET!Hi there, I`m Dixie Lou! I`m young and full of life. I`m a friendly gal, always ready to greet everyone with a wagging tail. I`m gentle and mellow, preferring quiet moments of companionship. I`m also quite curious, always eager to learn new tricks. I`m smart, you see. I love playtime, it`s when my energetic side shines. But I can be a little shy at first, so please give me time to warm up. I think I would be happiest as the only pet in the house, and with no young children around. I need someone patient and understanding, who can appreciate my unique personality. Adopt me, and I promise to be your loyal companion, your confidante, and your best friend. I have so much love to give, and I`m just waiting for the right person to share it with. Will you be that person?

Story
Sweet Huck was  a volunteer favorite at the shelter.  He is  2 years old (a baby who was stuck in a rural shelter), 56lbs( is on a diet), neutered, heart worm negative, and current on vaccines.  He revels in attention and knows basic commands.  Huck was an owner surrender and is house and crate trained.  He takes a while to warm up to some men so a slow intro with treats wins him over.   Like most dogs and people, he doesn't respond to yelling or rough treatment.  He loves to go for walks and would love to have a running partner to help him see the world.  He would do best with older children. Huck is a fast learner and is eager to learn new cues and tricks.  He is a snuggle bug according to his foster but would also like to go for a long walk or run.   Because he is a typical beagle, he loves to chew so he would need someone who will work with him and take him to training class.  If you think this adorable boy would make a wonderful addition to your home, PLEASE contact Rainbow Rescue at 757-472-1583 or rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.comNovember 3, 2024, 9:38 am

Story
This precious purebred Beagle girl just turned 10 years old and for the last 9 years this girl was a girl who was used as a taste tester dog for a dog food manufacturer.  In October of 2023 this girl was adopted with the great hopes of giving her the many last years of her life a new life with a family who could provide that special home she never has had.  For 15 months all was going well for her.  A quiet girl that weighs 22 pounds and is very petite for a Beagle, she learned how to be loved and give love right back.  She lived with another dog and went to work some days with her mom.  Coffee Bean was all set until a new baby entered the home and then her world changed.  She shut down and retreated and hid from her human mom and dad there in the home.  It was apparent that this girl was sadly not comfortable with a baby in the house.  This loving couple can see that Coffee Bean needs to find a different home soon so that she can readjust and find peace and quiet.  She is so very affectionate and sweet and we think that CB would be the delightful companion for a retired couple or woman who lives alone and wants to have Coffee Bean as her new best friend!  She does well with male dogs, but with female dogs she will have issues if they are bigger than her (smaller breeds are fine). She is not 100% housebroken but has few accidents and we want to be clear on that.  She lived in a kennel for 9 years and so she was not required to be housebroken 100%. She rarely has an accident! She's done well to tolerate the cat and should be fine with another cat if required.  We envision a home where someone is home a lot or can take this girl with them places.  She craves the companionship and will not do well being home alone for long hours while someone is away at work.  A  retired family where she could be a couch potato and a nice yard for her to do her beagle running and sniffing would be fabulous.  She is not a frequent barker, just the usual alerts when someone is at the door or a squirrel has entered the yard uninvited.  She just loves everybody and wants nothing but pets and cuddles!  This lovely girl is gentle and very soft in her personality with people. She is not demanding and loud and just wants a more peaceful life during her senior years.  We project another good five years or more are in her future.  Want to invite this girl into your world?  Just email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com  She is ready NOW!   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 20, 2025, 11:47 am
