TWO PEAS IN A POD BAXTER & CARLOS are quite a pair. At 30 and 20 pounds, respectively, they are happy and easy-going boys who only landed behind bars when their owner passed away.At 10 years old, both Baxter (with the cone) and Carlos are playful and love going for walks - which, I might add, they are a pleasure to be at your side. Toys are fun and being near their human is even better! Experienced at being active participants in their family's daily activities, even napping (!), these two will make the transition to a new home with ease as they enjoy the company of kids and other dogs.---house trained---love toys---lazy boys! PUPPY AT HEART, LOVES ATTENTIONMAX - 12 years old, 40 pounds, house trained, playful Max is an older boy surrendered due to his reactivity towards new people. He's just a boy who needs some extra time getting used to new people. He was easy for me, treats in hand, to leash him and lead him out.He ran around the yard, even at 12 years of age, like he was a puppy! He's playful, enjoys plush and squeaky toys mostly.Max is a great passenger when going for car rides! He likes taking walks, too!Max would be best with older kids or in an adult only home.He is said to be friendly and playful with other dogs but also that he might avoid other dogs. With his floppy ears, his round body and short legs, Max is super cute! Maxis hanging in our med dog adoption kennel. Come on out to meet him! Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Weight: 51

FOSTER UPDATE:Max (Maximus) has been in foster with us for well over a year. While he is cute, sweet and goofy, Max is not for everyone. Max deals with high anxiety and separation anxiety (he's not destructive), and has very sensitive hearing (which escalates his anxiety). He exhibits his anxiety and sensitivity to noises by barking, whining and pacing until the cause of the anxiety disappears or he is otherwise comforted. He will not do well in a noisy home, which includes homes with young children (their natural exuberance and toys would be too much for him). He will not do well in a condo, townhouse, or other multi-family housing; and he will not do well near a busy street (too much noise).Max would like his fur-ever person to be with him a lot (he wants to go everywhere his person goes), and, if his person does have to leave him, he would prefer his fur-ever home to have a doggy companion (who tolerates his anxiety) to comfort him. Max does better when he has a routine. He is house-trained, loves frozen pup cups and belly rubs, enjoys car rides, loves walks (he would probably love someone to teach him how to run a few miles on quiet running trails each morning, which may help with his anxiety) and exploring (the hound in him necessitates stopping to smell everything), and he just really wants to be with his person (whether being a couch potato, or getting out and about; however, this also means he is going to get underfoot as he will want to follow his person if he thinks his person is leaving him).Max does not like being surprised by unknown people "just appearing" (e.g., people working drive-thru windows, curbside grocery pickup employees loading groceries in the back of the car, people appearing on the front porch, etc.), and while he gets along with other dogs and loves attention from people, he does not like people walking dogs (yet does fine in stores, at festivals, etc. where there are lots of people escorting their pups (this may be because he sees them first/approaches them, as opposed to them "just appearing")).He is an all-American mutt, and his DNA results identified 15 different breeds: Norwegian Elkhound (30%), Chi. (17%), Labrador Retriever (15%), Rat Terrier (10%), Treeing Walker Coonhound (4%), American Hairless Terrier (3%), Toy Fox Terrier (3%), Flat-Coated Retriever (3%), Plott Hound (3%), American Foxhound (2%), Miniature American Shepherd (2%), Dandie Dinmont Terrier (2%), Parson Russell Terrier (2%), MinPin (2%), and Portuguese Podengo Pequeno (2%).Think Max is a perfect match for you? There's lots more to sniff when you're walking along a trail!Boomer is house trained but If left alone too long, he might also have an accident.Boomer isn't a fan of car rides so some practice and management might help with this.Boomer is also good at finding lost items! Foster Update: Scooby and Boomer are well behaved indoors and not destructive aside from the occasional cardboard box. Boomer has started digging in the yard, while Scooby loves chewing sticks and will eat cardboard if she finds it.They get along fine with the cats, curious but respectful when corrected and generally mind their own business. Both enjoy simple treats, especially milk bones.Scooby prefers tug toys and chewing, while Boomer tends to want whatever Scooby has. Scooby isn't into fetch but likes interacting with toys, while both dogs spend a lot of time relaxing on the couch.Socially, Scooby is shy at first but warms up quickly, while Boomer is friendly with everyone.Overall, they're affectionate, sweet dogs, Scooby is excitable and attention seeking, and Boomer is laid-back and loves belly rubs. AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A HOUND DOG....Twelve year old low riding Bassett Hound ELEANOR is as fun to look at as she is to meet. Her round belly, short legs and floppy ears all contribute to the cuteness, almost cuteness overload. Her senior years show in the grey around her muzzle and the gentle but purposeful stride of her chunky paws. Friendly and treat motivated, 70 pound Eleanor pleasantly walks on a leash. She's playful - loves all kinds of toys - and can easily go for car rides with her family.Eleanor seeks a home without small children. She was surrendered after snapping at the young child in her previous home.Dog selectiveCome on out and just ask to meet her! Primary Color: Tan Weight: 76
