Story
If ever there was a dog whose purpose in life was to help heal a deserving human heart, it is Bessie.   This sweet girl has a gentle spirit that seems almost heaven-sent. While we may never know everything she endured before she came to us, it’s clear that life was not always kind to her. Bessie appeared as a stray in a very rural area of Tennessee, thin, neglected, and suffering from skin issues that spoke of a difficult past. Thankfully, a kind Samaritan stepped in and contacted Critter Cavalry Rescue, and Bessie’s journey toward healing began.   We immediately got her the medical care she needed, including being spayed, treating her skin condition, and helping her regain much-needed weight. When she arrived, she weighed only 38 pounds and looked visibly starved. Today, Bessie is healthy, healed, and thriving at about 42 pounds. The physical wounds have faded, and her beautiful spirit shines through.   Bessie is estimated to be around 5 years old and is the definition of a loyal companion. She loves to snuggle close, walk quietly by your side, and simply be near the people she trusts. She is housebroken and doesn’t require a crate. All she really needs is a predictable routine, a comfortable place to rest, a water bowl she can count on finding, and a loving human who will never let her down.   There is something truly special about Bessie. She carries herself with a calm, steady presence that brings comfort wherever she goes. She doesn’t ask for much—just kindness, security, and a family who will cherish her. In return, she offers unwavering devotion, acceptance, and the kind of companionship that helps mend hearts.   We believe there is someone out there who needs Bessie just as much as she needs them. Someone who understands that healing often happens quietly, through shared walks, peaceful evenings, and the unconditional love of a faithful dog.   Bessie will not disappoint you. The only thing we ask is that you never disappoint her.   If you would like to learn more about this remarkable girl, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Bessie is ready to begin the next—and best—chapter of her life.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 21, 2026, 1:48 pm

Story
Meet Gale! Gale is a 4-year-old Beagle with a loving heart and a strong devotion to her people. Originally arriving at the shelter as a stray, she was later adopted but has found herself searching for a new home once again. This sweet girl forms deep bonds with her family and loves spending quality time with the people she trusts. Once you`re part of Gale`s inner circle, you`ll have a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side.Gale`s previous family reported that she became uncomfortable when visitors entered the home and displayed protective behaviors. While she was never aggressive toward her family, she did show signs of guarding her home and the people she loves. She has also nipped at family members in the past, though these incidents did not break skin.Because of this, Gale is looking for a home that can provide structure, management, and an understanding of her boundaries. If you`re seeking a smaller dog with guardian instincts, Gale may be exactly what you`re looking for. She thrives when she knows who her people are and what is expected of her. While she has been noted to do well with children, we believe Gale would be happiest in a home with older children who can better understand and respect her space, particularly when visitors are coming and going.Gale is a wonderful dog with so much love to give. She simply needs a family willing to appreciate her loyal nature and help her feel secure. In return, you`ll gain a devoted companion who will be your biggest fan and closest friend. If you`re looking for a faithful sidekick who bonds deeply with her people, come meet Gale and see if she`s the missing piece of your family.
