Story
Lady Lucy – Sweet Survivor  Some dogs have a way of capturing your heart the moment you meet them, and Lady Lucy is certainly one of those dogs. Though her past appears to have been filled with uncertainty, she has emerged from it with a gentle spirit, a loving heart, and an unwavering belief that good things are still ahead. Lady Lucy was one of nine dogs discovered living in a remote wooded area of Middle Tennessee after they were apparently abandoned when their owner fell on difficult times. No one knows exactly how long they survived on their own, but their situation touched the hearts of many rescue volunteers who came together to help. With patience, food, water, and kindness, the dogs were gradually brought to safety. Rescue groups across the region stepped forward to help, and Critter Cavalry Rescue was fortunate enough to welcome Lady Lucy into its care. From the moment she arrived, it was clear that Lucy had once known the comforts of a home. She settled in beautifully and quickly showed everyone what a wonderful companion she is. At just over a year old and weighing 32 pounds, Lucy is the perfect size for a family looking for a smaller dog with a big heart. She appears to be a delightful mix of Corgi and Beagle, though her most remarkable feature is her personality. She is affectionate, gentle, and full of love, with the easygoing nature often found in hound breeds. Whether she's relaxing beside you on the couch or quietly following you from room to room, Lucy simply wants to be close to her people. She is fully grown, crate trained, housebroken, and has excellent manners in the home. Lucy currently lives successfully with other dogs and does very well in an active household with teenagers, but she has made it clear that she would not mind having a little less competition for attention. After all she has been through, we think she would happily embrace a life where she can enjoy a bit more of the spotlight and receive the princess treatment she believes is rightfully hers. Lady Lucy has a way of looking into your eyes that makes you feel like you've known each other forever. She is the kind of dog who forms deep bonds, offers unwavering companionship, and fills a home with warmth and comfort. Her difficult past has not diminished her capacity to love; if anything, it seems to have made her even more appreciative of every kindness she receives. Now all that remains is for the right family to find her. Lady Lucy is packed and ready for her next adventure, with an open heart and a hopeful spirit. She is ready to leave her difficult past behind and begin the life she has always deserved with a family who will cherish her as the special girl she truly is. To learn more about Lady Lucy or to request an adoption application, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 21, 2026, 9:14 pm

Story
Meet McCoy – the sweetest little sidekick you didn’t know you were missing. At just 4.5 months old and 24 pounds, McCoy is a delightful mix of silly, snuggly, and smart. He may be a tiny bit shy at first, but give him a little patience and you’ll quickly discover his playful personality and affectionate heart. McCoy comes from a pretty interesting family tree! His mom is a Heeler/Beagle mix and his dad is a cream-colored Goldendoodle, which resulted in one very unique and adorable pup. He has the coloring of his siblings but favors his Beagle-mix mama in looks — with short little legs, a loooong Basset-style body, and a thick, medium-length coat that’s perfect for cuddling. Though he was born outside and spent his early weeks living outdoors with his parents and littermates, McCoy is now thriving inside a loving foster home. He’s learning all about family life — from the excitement of greeting you at the door (he gives the best welcome-home kisses!) to living with young boys ages 6 and 10. Every day he grows braver and more confident. At first, the big dogs in his foster home made him a little nervous — but now? He’s happily part of the crew. He absolutely loves to run and play outside, and fetch with tennis balls is quickly becoming one of his favorite games. And yes… he is SMART. You can just see those wheels turning. One of the most special things about McCoy is how deeply he bonds with his people. When his foster mom recently had a terrible migraine, McCoy instinctively curled up beside her and stayed close, offering quiet comfort. He’s not just cute — he truly cares. His activity level is beautifully balanced. He enjoys playtime and adventures, but he’s just as happy snuggled up right next to you. With a loving, supportive family, McCoy is going to absolutely bloom into the best kind of companion — loyal, joyful, and full of heart. He is expected to grow to around 45–50 pounds when fully grown. If you’re looking for a special boy who is adorable inside and out, McCoy may be your perfect match. To learn more about McCoy, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com. We transport from our rescue base in Nashville up the northeastern corridor of states to approved adopters. McCoy is ready to find his forever family — maybe it’s you. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 21, 2026, 9:14 pm

Story
Best friend Buddy is the total package. He loves people and greets everyone, always eager for attention.   At 12, Buddy ended up in a rural Tennessee shelter. We do not know his backstory or why such a sweet boy would land in a shelter. We may never know.     At Critter Cavalry, we adore seniors and believe they deserve every chance to find a loving home. You won’t regret considering Buddy—he loves everyone, whether human or animal. Buddy is everyone’s best friend.     Buddy is healthy for a senior. He has limited sight and hearing, but is otherwise in good shape. He navigates his foster home easily and enjoys exploring the fenced yard. He comes when called—just use a louder voice.   Buddy is ready to retire with a couple eager to add him to their family. He’d love a fenced yard to explore—size isn’t important—and an active retirement with short walks and car rides. He will be a wonderful addition to a family that matches his lifestyle.   If you want a new best friend, Buddy is perfect for you. To learn more about adopting him, contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com or 615-943-7311. Approved application and adoption fee required.    June 21, 2026, 9:14 pm

TWO PEAS IN A POD BAXTER & CARLOS are quite a pair. At 30 and 20 pounds, respectively, they are happy and easy-going boys who only landed behind bars when their owner passed away.At 10 years old, both Baxter (with the cone) and Carlos are playful and love going for walks - which, I might add, they are a pleasure to be at your side. Toys are fun and being near their human is even better! Experienced at being active participants in their family's daily activities, even napping (!), these two will make the transition to a new home with ease as they enjoy the company of kids and other dogs.---house trained---love toys---lazy boys! PUPPY AT HEART, LOVES ATTENTIONMAX - 12 years old, 40 pounds, house trained, playful Max is an older boy surrendered due to his reactivity towards new people. He's just a boy who needs some extra time getting used to new people. He was easy for me, treats in hand, to leash him and lead him out.He ran around the yard, even at 12 years of age, like he was a puppy! He's playful, enjoys plush and squeaky toys mostly.Max is a great passenger when going for car rides! He likes taking walks, too!Max would be best with older kids or in an adult only home.He is said to be friendly and playful with other dogs but also that he might avoid other dogs. With his floppy ears, his round body and short legs, Max is super cute! Story
FOSTER UPDATE:Max (Maximus) has been in foster with us for well over a year. While he is cute, sweet and goofy, Max is not for everyone. Max deals with high anxiety and separation anxiety (he's not destructive), and has very sensitive hearing (which escalates his anxiety). He exhibits his anxiety and sensitivity to noises by barking, whining and pacing until the cause of the anxiety disappears or he is otherwise comforted. He will not do well in a noisy home, which includes homes with young children (their natural exuberance and toys would be too much for him). He will not do well in a condo, townhouse, or other multi-family housing; and he will not do well near a busy street (too much noise).Max would like his fur-ever person to be with him a lot (he wants to go everywhere his person goes), and, if his person does have to leave him, he would prefer his fur-ever home to have a doggy companion (who tolerates his anxiety) to comfort him. Max does better when he has a routine. He is house-trained, loves frozen pup cups and belly rubs, enjoys car rides, loves walks (he would probably love someone to teach him how to run a few miles on quiet running trails each morning, which may help with his anxiety) and exploring (the hound in him necessitates stopping to smell everything), and he just really wants to be with his person (whether being a couch potato, or getting out and about; however, this also means he is going to get underfoot as he will want to follow his person if he thinks his person is leaving him).Max does not like being surprised by unknown people "just appearing" (e.g., people working drive-thru windows, curbside grocery pickup employees loading groceries in the back of the car, people appearing on the front porch, etc.), and while he gets along with other dogs and loves attention from people, he does not like people walking dogs (yet does fine in stores, at festivals, etc. where there are lots of people escorting their pups (this may be because he sees them first/approaches them, as opposed to them "just appearing")).He is an all-American mutt, and his DNA results identified 15 different breeds: Norwegian Elkhound (30%), Chi. (17%), Labrador Retriever (15%), Rat Terrier (10%), Treeing Walker Coonhound (4%), American Hairless Terrier (3%), Toy Fox Terrier (3%), Flat-Coated Retriever (3%), Plott Hound (3%), American Foxhound (2%), Miniature American Shepherd (2%), Dandie Dinmont Terrier (2%), Parson Russell Terrier (2%), MinPin (2%), and Portuguese Podengo Pequeno (2%).Think Max is a perfect match for you? Contact the shelter to get in touch with Max's foster to talk more! Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 31.2 Age: 8yrs 8mths 1wks

Story
Meet Oliver 🐾Oliver is an almost 7 y’o Basset Hound/Mini Australian Shepherd mix who is incredibly loyal and loving with his people. He’s a gentle, affectionate companion and has been amazing with our three young children—patient, calm, and sweet. He thrives when someone is home often, as he can have separation anxiety and may bark or get into things if left alone too long. Oliver is also very protective of his home and family. He can be wary of strangers and needs slow, careful introductions and clear boundaries (he is very over protective of his home & family—he takes his role as guard dog very seriously) but once he feels safe, he becomes a big, loving teddy bear.Oliver would do best in a home with minimal visitors, someone home most of the day, and an owner willing to work with him or experienced with protective dogs. This is a hard decision, and we’re hoping to find him a home where he can truly thrive.

Story
Meet Daisy Belle ❤️Some dogs come into your life with a story. Daisy Belle came with a mystery. She was found in a very remote area on a farm, and no one knows how she ended up there. What we do know is that whoever adopts Daisy Belle will be gaining an absolute treasure. At 28 pounds of pure love, Daisy Belle is one of the sweetest, most affectionate dogs you'll ever meet. She bonds quickly and deeply with her people and simply wants to be where you are. Whether you're relaxing on the couch, working around the house, or settling in for the night, Daisy Belle is happiest by your side. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats, never causing a fuss. If another pet wants to play, she's happy to join in. If not, she's perfectly content to go with the flow. Her easygoing nature makes her a wonderful companion in a variety of households. Daisy Belle loves treats, looks forward to every meal, and has excellent house manners. She is fully potty trained, happily goes outside to do her business, and comes right back in. At bedtime, she loves to snuggle and sleeps soundly through the night. While Daisy Belle isn't a fan of being crated, she doesn't need one. She is well-behaved in the home and doesn't spend her time getting into mischief. She can stay home alone when necessary, but she would thrive with a family where someone is around much of the time. More than anything, she loves companionship and being part of the daily routine. As for her breed mix, your guess is as good as ours! She appears to be a unique combination of Basset Hound and Boxer or perhaps Basset Hound and Bulldog. Whatever her DNA may say, the result is a one-of-a-kind girl with a big heart, a charming personality, and plenty of love to give. Daisy Belle's beginnings may be a mystery, but her future is easy to imagine: curled up beside the people she loves, finally home where she belongs.   Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested in helping this girl!!!!!!  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 21, 2026, 9:14 pm
