Story
Diamond (F, 5-years-old, Feist Mix) & Tony (Male, 7-years-old, Beagle Mix) were transferred to AAS from one of our amazing rural rescue partners (SWAG). Their lives had a happy beginning, in a loving home with a human couple. But, the couple split, and the dogs suffered the consequences. Having loved and lost, these two playful, goofy, snuggly pups are on a mission to love harder -- greeting everyone they meet with so much joy and adoration, you can't help but smile! Diamond and Tony are great friends, and would make a terrific pair if you're looking for pups who can keep each other company, but they are NOT bonded, and will happily go home separately. Don't worry -- if you adopt one, we'll keep the other company!Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
What's sweeter than sweet? THAT'S the word I need to describe Naomi! She is a wonderful, affectionate, cuddly, calm, friendly, gentle, sometimes goofy, always loving girl. Naomi adores humans of all ages, and is fabulous with other dogs -- come to Animal Aid, and you'll see her hanging out with Betty White, a blind and deaf Pitbull, in our front yard! Naomi was adopted and returned through NO fault of her own -- she was a terrific houseguest and did great with the other dog in the home. The adopter experienced a change in life circumstances and had to return her. Naomi is a healthy, joyful pup! She has had seizures in the past, but they are completely managed with two pills per day (pills she happily gobbles up with some canned food or cheese).Interested? Story
Jess was rescued back in 2016 and is now 8 years old. She has been a sweet loving dog with a sassy personality. Jess is not a highly active dog and loves her naps. She is wary of new people, it takes time for her to warm up to new environments. She has lived with one other dog and is cautious around new dogs. Once she is comfortable she will rarely turn down a nice belly rub. Jess would work well in a home WITHOUT small children (we have learned her patience runs thin around little ones). She is house and kennel trained and we hope to find a home for her to get the one on one attention she deserves.

Story
Meet Turtle !! This sweet boy is a near perfect addition to any family. He is already mostly trained and super loving and easy to have around. Turtle is a 7 year old, male, beagle mix. He weighs 35 pounds but needs to losing some weight to be his best self again. His ideal weight is closer to 25 pounds. He is already neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is heartworm negative. Turtle has been great to have in the home. He does well with potty training but isn’t perfect (but see below), crate trained, does great in the car and does well on the leash. He has been marking his territory inside but is otherwise potty trained. His Foster has been working with him on this training but his new family will need to help continue that. He’s very easy to have around. He did great with meeting all the dogs in his foster home. He’s with small and large dogs, senior and playful dogs. He’s great with them all. He isn’t fostered with cats but his previous owner said he does well with them. He’s also wonderful with children. Turtle blends well into most family settings. He has a medium energy level. He’s relaxed and chill but will also play with you or the other dogs. He’s an excellent mole hunter. He lives up to his hound genetics in that respect. If you’re unwilling to deal with that behavior and you have moles then he’s not the one for you. His foster says he listens well and is a joy to have around. He isn’t really into being held but loves to sit beside you and chew a bone or sleep. (He’s not aggressive when picked up he just doesn’t enjoy being held) Beagles can typically be very vocal. So far the only time Turtle has been vocal is when he is on his great mole quests. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ He has not shown any aggression at all. He’s been fine sharing food, treats and toys with both humans and other dogs. We are very excited to see him find his perfect new home. He is a great little guy and would be an easy first time dog or for someone who doesn’t have the time to train a puppy. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message us directly at VillageDogResource@gmail.com with questions or to get an application.‼️

Story
Meet Ringo !! This sweet boy is ready for his new family. He is very sweet and loving. Great little guy to have around the house. Ringo is a 1 year old, male, beagle mix. He weighs 20 pounds and should be full grown. He will be neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped as part of his adoption. He is thankfully heartworm negative. Ringo did great with meeting all the dogs in his foster home. He’s with small and large dogs, senior and playful dogs. He’s great with them all. He isn’t fostered with cats so we don’t know how he would do. He’s been absolutely wonderful with children. He loves kids. He is doing really well with his training so far. He is potty trained when taken out regularly but he does still mark his territory. His upcoming neuter will likely help with that some. He is crate trained and does great in the car. He still needs some work on leash training but doesn’t do too bad. He was great at the vet and has no trouble meeting strangers. Ringo has not shown any aggression at all. He’s been fine sharing food, treats and toys with both humans and other dogs. He blends well into most family settings. He has a medium energy level. He’s both relaxed and chill but will also go do things with you if you want him to. He loves to play with his toys either alone or with the other dogs. He has that playful side but does not need a ton of exercise to be happy. His foster says he came in and joined the pack immediately without any issues. He is learning well and for a hound he has been fairly quiet. That could always change but so far, he isn’t loud. He is a fairly easy-going guy that would make a great companion for one lucky family. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message us directly at VillageDogResource@gmail.com with questions or to get an application.‼️

Story
Meet Remi !! We recently agreed to help 4 very terrified dogs learn to love again. We will be posting as they become more ready for their homes. Remi is progressing the fastest and is ready to transition to his new home. He is an approx 11 month old, male mixed breed and weighs 32 Pounds. His breed is a mystery. Maybe some beagle in there. Hard to tell for sure but whatever he is, it’s absolutely adorable!! Remi is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is heartworm negative. He is very shy at first but if you give him a day or two and some space he starts seeking out attention. He will come up and take treats but is still somewhat afraid of human touch. We can tell he’s so close to giving in to human love. He will let his foster pick him up and has not shown any aggression. He’s still a bit uncertain when you reach to pet him. Unless you’re a kid, he’s all about getting love from the kids. Despite being shy he’s always happy. You can see in his pictures he just loves to smile. Such a sweet boy. Remi would do best with another dog or several dogs. He immediately befriended the fosters other dogs and that has helped him so much. He really needs his confidence built up in a kind and caring household. Despite living outside prior to coming to us he’s doing really well with house manners. He is still learning but has done well so far. He is potty trained if let out frequently. He does good on car rides. It’s best not to feed him prior to a ride or he may get sick. He still has a lot of fear with the leash. He is crate trained and so far has been quiet and content. He does great with other dogs and another confident dog in the house really helps him. He’s never met cats so we are unsure how he would do. He adores kids. He lets them get close and touch him and give him treats. As long as the kids are old enough to understand giving him space at first until he feels safe. Remi loves being outside. He would do best with a fenced in yard due to that and his leash fears. He’s currently got a medium energy level. He will run and play with all the dogs but also come in and relax. He’s just starting to figure out what toys are and how to enjoy them. He’s extremely food motivated which helps a lot for gaining his trust. He gets scared to come inside sometimes but will learn to follow the other dogs inside for a treat. He has not had any aggression with food, treats, or toys with people or other animals. If you’re willing to put some time into letting Remi feel safe with you he will be your best friend and your shadow. A loving loyal boy that will quickly steal your heart. Vet and home checks required. Fenced yard required Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message us at VillageDogResource@gmail.com directly with questions or to get an application.‼️
