Story
Meet Cairo (aka Big Dog) 🐾 Looking for a loyal sidekick, adventure buddy, and professional Velcro dog all rolled into one handsome package? Meet Cairo — a 4-year-old neutered Belgian Malinois with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Cairo’s story started rough. He was found wandering the Texas countryside as a stray, severely underweight at just 50 pounds and too weak to stand. Today, this resilient boy has transformed into a healthy, happy 65-pound goofball who’s ready to leave the dusty roads behind and finally find his forever home. At first, Cairo can be a little reserved and cautious while he figures you out. But once you earn his trust, you’re officially his person. From that moment on, he becomes the ultimate Velcro dog — following you from room to room, leaning against your legs, attempting to climb into your lap like he’s a tiny puppy, and giving dramatic sighs if you leave him alone for too long. Like a true Belgian Malinois, Cairo is whip-smart, intensely loyal, and always ready for his next job — even if he occasionally invents one for himself. He’s the kind of dog who wants to be part of everything you do, whether that’s hiking a trail, tossing a ball in the backyard, or supervising your every move around the house. Malinois fans know the breed’s magic: fierce devotion, incredible intelligence, and a bond that runs deep. Cairo brings all of that… plus a goofy streak that keeps life entertaining. He’s equal parts loyal protector and oversized clown. One minute he’s on neighborhood watch duty with his serious “I’ve got this handled” bark, and the next he’s prancing around with a toy in his mouth like the happiest dork alive. He’s expressive, hilarious, affectionate, and absolutely full of personality. The Good Stuff: Crate trained and happy to relax in his kennel Mostly house trained and learning routines quickly Dog-friendly with excellent play energy Smart, eager to learn, and highly trainable Loves tug, fetch, puzzle toys, and interactive games A Few Honest Notes: Cairo is looking for an adult-only home or one with older, respectful teens. Young children make him nervous, and he does best when his space and boundaries are respected. He also cannot live with cats, chickens, or other small animals due to his prey drive. What Cairo Needs: Cairo is looking for someone who appreciates everything that makes a Belgian Malinois special — intelligence, athleticism, loyalty, and that deep desire to be connected to their person. He’s not a “sit around all day” kind of dog; he thrives when he has structure, activity, and a job to do, even if that job is mastering puzzle toys or joining you on outdoor adventures. Give this boy guidance, consistency, and plenty of love, and you’ll get the kind of once-in-a-lifetime dog people rave about. In return, Cairo will give you unwavering loyalty, endless laughs, and the kind of deep bond Belgian Malinois are famous for. If you’re ready for a smart, protective, hilariously clingy best friend, Cairo may be your perfect match. Apply today and give this big goofy boy the forever home he’s been waiting for. ❤️ Adoption only in Texas at this time $200 adoption fee

Whether it’s hikes, runs, playtime in the yard, or learning new tricks, Rancher is always up for the next activity. This handsome boy is full of energy and personality, but what really makes him special is how much he adores people. Rancher is incredibly friendly, loves human attention, and is happiest when he’s part of the action with his family. He’s also great with kids, making him a wonderful companion for an active household. Rancher gets along well with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a canine buddy to play with. Story
Shadow (7months old) came from a purebred breeder. She is friendly with humans and does great at the dog park (I’ve taken her many times and she never has bitten anyone, plays wonderfully with all dogs small and big)Unfortunately I need hip replacement surgery which will leave me immobile for 4-5 months. I didn’t anticipate this and there is just no way I can raise this beautiful puppy, now 7 months old, while I’m unable to walk even for months.Shadow likes to have a lot of space in the backyard and home. She is the most loving pup with a defense nature to guard the house. She has progressed wonderfully with her training to be potty and pad trained, to walk without pulling (heal) when using a nose lead, sit, lay down, back up, stay, and is capable of learning so much more. I’ve also taught her attack using a toy and also drop it to let go. She is very food motivated to learnAny physically active owner who is able to love her as much as I do is needed.

Story
Age: 7 months Breed: Belgian Malinois Mix Sex: Female, Spayed Weight: 40 pounds About: Curious, smart, and eager to learn…all amazing qualities to have in a dog and Finn matches them all. Finn was surrendered with her other siblings who have already found their forever homes. However, because Finn and her sister Princess are not traditional colors, they have been looked over every time. Finn’s Mom was a Belgian Malinois but they were unsure what the dad was. But that doesn’t matter to us, because we love her just the same! Finn is learning how to walk on a leash and her basic commands. She will need someone with the patience and willingness to continue to help her become the best dog she can be. She loves kids and enjoys running and playing with all the dogs in her playgroup!  (5/5/26)   Hope Dogs      Lower Fees. Adoption $300.00, Transport: $100.00     **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $395 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  May 29, 2026, 3:19 pm

Story
Meet Sage — Your 2026 Adventure BuddySage is a 1‑year‑old Black Mouth Curr mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She was originally adopted from us as a puppy, but life changed for her family and—through no fault of her own—she found her way back to us. Now she’s hoping her second chance is the one that sticks. This girl is every bit as fun and goofy as her photos suggest, but don’t let the silliness fool you—Sage is smart. Really smart. If you’re looking for a running partner, a future sports dog, or a companion who thrives on activity and learning, Sage might just be your perfect match. She came to us from Louisiana as a stray puppy alongside her siblings, and she’s grown into a bright, eager, energetic young dog who’s ready to take on the world. What she needs now is someone stable, patient, and excited to help her channel all that enthusiasm into something amazing.Sage has recently recovered from a medical emergency and life-saving surgery involving her intestines. She suffered from Intussusception, a serious condition where part of the intestine slides into an adjacent section, like a telescope, causing obstruction, swelling, and reduced blood flow. She is well on the mend, back to eating her normal diet from a slow feeder and normal play and activity! This could be a recurring issue in the future and would require immediate veterinary care. Will 2026 be the Year of Sage? She sure hopes so.Sage's adoption fee is $125, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! We welcome adopters from out of state to apply! _When it comes to our pets, we're all-inclusive!
