Story

Nedd was a stray in Miami and I pulled him as a foster in early November. Technically, I adopted him last month, so that he could come with us on our move from FL to VA. The animal welfare situation down there is truly awful and I’m hoping for more luck finding his furever here. Nedd is approximately 8. Neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, Heartworm negative, and on preventatives. He knows basic commands like sit, down, shake, stay, wait, come, go get a toy, and more. He is currently working on some off-leash skills. He loves his morning walks/jogs, working on obedience, playing tug, fetch, and flirt pole. He does have prey drive, so no cats/small animals in the home. I have children that he does great with. I also have a Saint Bernard and a Great Pyrenees that he lives with. He is very handler focused. He is house trained and sleeps on a dog bed in our room all night long. He would come with a collar, leash, bag of Sundays Dog Food, beds, toys, and more!

Seeking a highly qualified foster or adopter looking for a working or sport dog. Lycan is trained in German, knows bite work, has high ball drive, and was scheduled for euthanasia before we stepped in. Seeing the intelligence behind this dog, we sent him straight to a trainer. They confirmed what we already suspected—someone put real, professional work into him. He reads your hands, responds to commands, and is ready to work. He’s engaged, aware, and looking for direction. Maybe he flunked out of a program. Maybe he got lost. He didn’t have a tag or microchip, so we may never know. While we don’t know his exact breed or mix, some have suggested he may come from KNPV lines. That’s not our area to confirm, but we welcome feedback from those familiar with this type of dog. Aside from his drive, he’s excellent with people. Lycan will give you his paw and roll onto his back the second he meets you. He’s social, confident, and genuinely enjoys interaction. He loves to work. He wants a job. That’s where he’s happiest. Lycan is five years old, about 70 lbs, neutered, heartworm negative, and currently in boarding with a trainer until the right home is found. He’s medium to high drive and currently reactive to male dogs, which is manageable for someone experienced and familiar with dogs like him. We are looking for a specific home: sport, protection, or working, or simply someone who can handle this type of dog. Someone experienced who understands what they’re looking at and actually wants a dog like this. This is not a casual pet. He needs to be engaged and given a job so he can live up to his full potential, because that’s what he truly enjoys. Transport available anywhere in the U.S. to approved applicants. Lucca is an 8-year-old Belgian Malinois (turning 9 in September) that I adopted in 2019. She is incredibly intelligent, loyal, and emotionally aware, and she bonds closely with her person. She thrives in an environment with structure, attention, and consistent mental and physical engagement. Lucca has a strong personality and does best as the only pet in the home, where she can receive focused attention. I am looking for an experienced owner familiar with working breeds (Malinois, German Shepherd, etc.) who understands their needs and can provide daily exercise, engagement, and leadership. Due to my current workload, health considerations, and time constraints, I’m no longer able to give her the level of attention she needs to truly thrive. The Melder!MEET FLASH! Don’t miss out on this gem of a dog! Around a year old, spayed, house broken, and crate trained. Flash is a designer mutt, with some possible combination of Belgian Malinois (maybe!), shepherd (maybe!), Kelpie (maybe!), and a pinch of pit (maybe!). The rest is anyone’s guess. She’s about 48 pounds, though a bit underweight from her time on the street. Yes, that’s right, Flash was found living in the wilds of Frederick, MD, fending for herself until she was taken in by Tara’s House. Flash is super loving and quickly bonds to her people. She’s been great with kids and adults alike. She does take a few minutes to warm up to new people, but a few well-placed treats do the trick. We call her The Melder, because if it were up to her, she would cozy up to you and meld herself to you! You bend down to give some pets and pretty soon you’re on the floor with a dog in your lap, which is about the greatest thing ever. Flash is the perfect age–past the shark-puppy phase, but young enough to be super goofy. She tosses balls for herself and has short puppy fits running up and down stairs and parkouring that will have you rolling on the floor laughing at her antics. Her coat is short and silky soft. She doesn’t shed a whole lot. Flash is athletic and can clear 4' fences...but she seems only interested in escaping if one of her people is on the other side of that fence. Despite being athletic and somewhat high energy, Flash does just fine with moderate walks and activity. She has done great with another dog in the house–she plays hard and loves to wrestle. She walks well on a leash and with another dog. She doesn’t pull aggressively, but she does get distracted by squirrels (so suspicious!) and dogs down the block (Do they want to play? Do they? Do they?) and will need a little urging to move along. If you keep a brisk pace, she matches it well. Anyone considering Flash for their pack should expect to do some consistent training to get her all the way to Perfect Pup status. But it won’t take long, because Flash is very smart, picks up cues easily, and is motivated by treats. Flash’s adoption donation fee is $450, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip.
