Darius and his 5 siblings are the product of two buddies thinking they were going to make money breeding Belgian Malinois. They were in way over their heads and the owner realized that being a backyard breeder was not for him especially when roaming neighborhood male dogs also came visiting. Darius is very social and playful. He gets along with other dogs and people. We do not know what he thinks of cats. Darius is about 7 months old and 33 pounds. Please help Darius find the loving home he deserves. "D" Litter is comprised of 5 boys (Dajon, Darius, Davenport, Davinici & Dax) and 1 girl (Dandelion) ***You must provide a vet reference for a current or past pet you have/had.*** We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. Mom decided the neighbor boxer mix boy was much more interesting then an arranged match. The puppies were neglected and luckily the owner realized that being a backyard breeder was not for him. Mom is now spayed and the owner gladly handed over the puppies to the local rescue where they are thriving and getting all their medical needs met. These 7 month old pups are super social with typical energetic and playful behaviors of puppies. Dajon weighs about 34 pounds. Please help Dajon find the loving home he deserves. https://www.greenepets.org/adoptionapplicaiton.html Special Handler, Savvy Belgian Malinois Dog Owner Leopold is absolutely amazing. He is extremely laid back and such a gentleman. I pulled him from Animal Control this morning because he was on his "death's door date". He was okay meeting a stranger "me", and didn't pull as we walked to the truck. Opened the tailgate and told him to "Hup" and up he went. He had a couple of barks on the 15 mile trip to our kennels, but he didn't mind being in the back. He also waited when I opened the tailgate to unload him. Didn't dismount until invited. He will be in chill mode for the next three days and he is barking in the kennel. During this time I will be making every effort to find his owner and figure out what brought him to Greene County. Leopold will be assessed this Friday. He currently seems very laid back, and a little shy, though he has been great with all the new stuff thrown at him so far. Not a worker, I see more of a snuggler. And he was picked up with a small female terrier.

We are re-homing our one year old Belgian Malinois puppy. He is a great smart and active dog. He is a typical Malinois and is on the larger side (about 29 inches and 85 lbs), but very sweet. He would make a great addition for anyone with an active lifestyle. He also makes a good guard dog. We have had him for almost one year. He grew up along a 1 and 3 year old and our 11 year old daughter handles him well. He has also been raised with our 13 year old Border Collie and likes other dogs. He really needs space to exercise and an owner who can give him the attention he deserves. All of his shots are up to date and he was neutered on 12/28/23.

Story

Ash is 3-year-old Belgian Malinois mix who is smart as well as loving. She sits nicely whenever the possibility of a treat comes around and also sits and waits for her meals to be served. She has even taught herself to go to the door when she has to go out. Don’t worry, if you’re not around to see it, she’ll give you a verbal warning. Ash is housebroken and kennel trained, although she prefers a treat or two when entering her kennel. Ash is super sweet and affectionate. She is quick to bond with her human and is a master cuddler and leaner. She is very curious and will want to follow you everywhere you go and watch everything you do. She is a bit of a nervous nelly when it comes to meeting new people and, in true Malinois fashion, she tends to be vocal about her fear. She needs a human who will be understanding and patient with her when it comes to introducing visitors and new friends. Dog introductions should be conducted slowly as well. Ash takes a few days to warm up to her new environment but once she does, her personality shines through. She can run all day in the yard with her furry foster siblings or crash just about anywhere when it’s time to wind down. She loves any and all kinds of toys and will throw them around all by herself. She is an awesome puppy that would bring heaps of love and energy to anyone willing to adopt her. After being rescued from a Texas shelter, NorthStar discovered that Ash has a severe congenital deformity that will lead to congestive heart failure. She will need to be monitored closely for any symptoms (exercise intolerance, coughing, shortness of breath). She is currently on medication for her condition and seeking the care of a cardiologist is recommended. Unfortunately, Ash's longevity will be affected and the doctors feel that she will most likely not reach the age of 5 years. When NorthStar rescued Ash, we never expected that she would have such a short life but we are determined to make what time she has left the best we can. Ash is looking for a very special adopter who will love this sweet girl and give her the care she needs for the rest of her life. BeBe is a diamond in the rough - she is one of a litter that is bonded to each other, and needs to move away from her siblings and into her own human family. She has a sweet temperament, but has never been taught how to be a house dog. A little love and a lot of training and she will be an awesome companion. All our dogs/pups are spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. They have been dewormed and are current on vaccinations. Our adoption fee includes 30 days of complimentary medical insurance for your new pet. Breed and size is frequently a guess and can not be guaranteed. Our dogs are fostered on a private residence, we do not have a free standing shelter. They live on a farm where they run and play with other dogs, cats, horses, and barnyard fowl.
